Good News, Bad News: NBC, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, Rosie & More!

January 2nd, 2009

Good News: NY Times reporter Mike Hale claims that NBC Universal is the number one purveyor of webisodes among the major networks. Bad News: So in conclusion, NBC does a really fine job of creating five minute shows for the web. But full-length comedies and dramas, umm… not so much. [Source]

Good News: Alan Sepinwall calls BATTLESTAR GALACTICA’s final season opener both “Brilliant and Devastating” Bad News: Not only is it BSG’s final FINAL SEASON OPENER, we’re still waiting for our advanced copy *cough*couch*hint*cough! [Source]

Good News: Viacom and Time Warner Cable have reached an eleventh hour deal ensuring viewers won’t lose access to the likes of Comedy Central, MTV and Nickelodeon. Bad News: Brody Jenner’s BROMANCE lives! [Source]

Good News: Rosie quits her blog. Bad News: Now where will we look to feel good about our spelling and grammar? [Source]

Week in Rewind: THE SIMPSONS, ROSIE, TERMINATOR & More!

December 1st, 2008

iFunny: Last night’s combination of two of this TV Addict’s favorite things: THE SIMPSONS and Apple mApple (see above video) was so entertaining that we’re willing to forgive the fact that FOX can’t ever seem to air their holiday episodes remotely close to their actual dates (Christmas in November?) and intolerant Homer stopped being funny five seasons ago (Memo to writers: Think Different.)

Quantity Doesn’t Equal Quality: The following are a few lessons gleaned from Rosie’s jam-packed train-wreck of a Variety Special. Alec Baldwin minus Tina Fey isn’t funny, time has not been kind to Clay Aiken and Rosie should stick to what she does best blogging. Or really, anything that doesn’t involve singing, dancing, fat jokes or sequins.

THE VIEW without ROSIE

May 29th, 2007

For those of you stuck in your office (without a television — paging Amnesty International), I thought I’d take a moment to update you all on this morning’s first installment of THE VIEW minus ROSIE.

Fourteen minutes in, I’m already bored. Barbara Walters is sitting in Rosie’s chair, and Whoopi Goldberg is special guest host (or is it Rosie replacement?). Not surprisingly, the opening minutes were dedicated to Barbara and Elizabeth talking about how much Rosie will be missed and that the two of them have been affectionately emailing Rosie all weekend. Translation: please don’t stop tuning in to the show because Rosie’s gone.

Not surprisingly, the Queen of Nice has a different take on the controversy. “I haven’t spoken to her [Elizabeth], and I think it’s just as well” said Rosie on her video blog at Rosie.com. “I wrote her an e-mail, and she wrote me back, and there you have it.”

What’s more, Rosie compared her stint on THE VIEW to being “just like a foster kid for a year … I didn’t really fit into the family and now it’s time for the foster kid to go back home.”

And now on to Lindsay Lohan’s ‘problems’…. cue channel change now.

Rosie Speaks Out

May 27th, 2007

Boy the internet is truly an amazing place. Via her blog, Rosie has just posted a video where she talks — albeit in broad generalities — about ‘nuclear Wednesday’, her words, not ours.

Again, love her or hate her, you absolutely have to appreciate how Rosie removes the mystery around ‘celebrity’. Does anyone else think it’s simply fascinating to watch how open and honest Rosie is about everything.

Check out the video and let us know what you think. First DEBBI MATEwhatwashername? STAR JONES, now ROSIE, can anybody leave THE VIEW in one piece?

Why I Love THE VIEW

May 23rd, 2007

Love her or hate her, one fact is indisputable ROSIE makes great TV. In case you missed it, here’s this morning’s latest Rosie/Elizabeth Smackdown. Talk about gripping Reality TV!

Thanks to GMMR for the Tip!

Rosie to Exit THE VIEW

April 25th, 2007

TMZ is reporting that Rosie O’Donnell will announce that she’s leaving THE VIEW on this morning’s episode. While this no doubt comes as bad news for ABC execs — who’ve seen the show’s rating surge 20% thanks in no part to Rosie’s opinionated views — it’s even worse news for fans of the show. Love her or loathe her, you can’t deny the fact that Rosie transformed the one-hour borefest into the season’s most buzzed about [and TiVo-worthy] talk show.

Update: It’s Official. Rosie’s done [come June] and so is my season’s pass for THE VIEW. Watch her farewell announcement above.

NIP/TUCK Scoop: Rosie Returning

March 9th, 2007

Following last night’s NIP/TUCK event at the 2007 Paley Festival, creator Ryan Murphy was kind enough to answer a few questions for a gaggle of reporters. At the top of the list was whether or not ROSIE O’DONNELL’S popular character from last season — Dawn Budge would be returning. Murphy confirmed that Rosie would indeed be returning and that since the show’s now set in Hollywood, we should expect to see quite a parade of famous guest stars. Stop the presses — Celebrities like plastic surgery? Who knew!

Check back later today for theTVaddict.com’s full report from the NIP/TUCK panel at the Paley Festival.

AMERICAN IDOL Defends Itself Against ROSIE Allegations

March 7th, 2007

Love her or hate her, ROSIE O’DONNELL sure knows how to stir up controversy. In response to her recent tirade on THE VIEW, AMERICAN IDOL sent theTVaddict.com this press release:

“Without wishing to add to the obvious self-promotion of Ms. O’Donnell, I feel as though I must refute her absurd and ridiculous claims that AMERICAN IDOL is racist and/or weightist.

“Ms. O’Donnell has, once again, spoken without thought or knowledge. Viewers need only look at the show tonight to realize that AMERICAN IDOL constantly confirms to America that talent has nothing to do with weight or color.”
Nigel Lythgoe, Executive Producer, AMERICAN IDOL

Seriously, did you ever think you’d be this interested in THE VIEW?

Why I Love Rosie

December 22nd, 2006

Here’s why ROSIE simply rocks (yes, you heard me Mr. Trump!). This morning on THE VIEW Rosie brought on a young girl named Stephanie to talk about how she deals with having Cystic Fibrosis. At the end of the conversation, Rosie asked Stephanie what her favourite musical was. Apparently, they bonded over their mutual love of musical theatre, specifically RENT. Rosie asks Stephanie to start singing “500,250,600 minutes…” and anyone who’s watched even a few minutes of ROSIE or THE VIEW knew where this was going. By the second chorus, the entire cast of RENT comes on stage, and sings along with Stephanie (who of course was completely shocked and amazed). It was a beautiful moment, and yet another reason why Rosie is awesome. Check out the clip below.
