AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Strap on your dancin’ shoes and get ready to boogie oogie oogie ’til ya just can’t boogie no more. That’s right, it’s disco night. I’ve avoided this show like the boil on the butt of humanity that it is, but even I am tempted to tune in tonight.

90210 (9PM CW, Global in Canada)
Donna and Kelly bond. I’m sure lots of supposedly interesting things happen to the “new generation” of Beverly Hills residents, but who cares. It’s Kelly and Donna, together again!

FRINGE (9PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Olivia witnesses a suicide… in her dreams, and it soon becomes apparent her nightmares could be connected to the ZFT manifesto. All of which would certainly mean a lot more to us if we remembered what exactly the ZFT manifesto was.

NEW & NOTABLE:
SAMANTHA WHO? (8PM ABC)
Who out there was asking for more of this show? (Anyone? Bueller?) Well, whoever you are, ABC heard and is responding with not just one but two new episodes airing back-to-back! (I’m going to guess they were so busy responding to your request that mine — that they not cancel SAMANTHA WHO — got lost in the shuffle. I hope you’re happy.)

THE BIGGEST LOSER (8PM NBC, E! in Canada)
The contestants take part in a health trivia contest. Frankly, that sounds like this recurring nightmare I have in which I’m playing Trivial Pursuit and all I need is one more piece of plastic pie, but I keep getting science questions over and over and over.

REAPER (8PM CW)
Sam makes a deal tonight which could result in him learning the secret to regaining his soul. Meanwhile, the Devil amuses himself by causing tensions between Sam and Morgan. Oh, you devil you!

THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS)
The show has really been doing a great job of having Penny bond with the various guys this season as evidenced in this rerun during which her nasty remark about Wolowitz sends him into a tizzy.

DANCING WITH THE STARS (9PM ABC)
Natasha Bedingfield performs, as does the Irish group Celtic Woman. Oh, and someone’s going home.

RESCUE ME (10PM FX)
Tommy decides it’s time to have a little chat about the birds and the bees with daughter Colleen. Later, he meets the psycho-dramaturge (who knew there was such a thing?) who advised Sheila to “purge” herself of Tommy.

THE UNUSUALS (10PM ABC)
The detectives set up a sting at a store that sells murder weapons and body-disposal advice. Talk about putting the “beyond” in Bed, Bath & Beyond!

The remaining eight contestants perform songs from the year they were born. Interesting fact: At least one of them reportedly has naked pics floating around on the web. On your marks… get set… Google!

FRINGE (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Serial killer, creepy kids, dancing Walter…. we can’t wait!

90210 (9PM CW, Global in Canada)
Jason Priestly… directed this outing, which pretty much revolves around Silver and the fallout from that whole video mess that unfolded in the last episode.

CUPID (10PM ABC)
I ain’t gonna lie: I went into this show last week hating it. Call it THE LOVE BOAT syndrome, but by the end of the pilot, I’d been lulled into a state of somnambulistic-like bliss that left me… well, not exactly eager for more, per se, but somehow not opposed to the idea.

NEW & NOTABLE:
IT’S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN! (8PM ABC)
Everyone mocks Linus for believing in the Easter Beagle. The life lesson here? The cool kids don’t have all the answers, and the geeky kids often walk away with the candy.

NCIS (8PM CBS, Global in Canada)
When a scientist who was working on a hush-hush project goes missing, Abby is asked to take his place. Here’s hoping she has a great insurance plan.

REAPER (8PM CW)
A tentacled beast wants to take over a small town and Sock tries sleeping with his stepsister. Hard to say which is creepier.

THE BIGGEST LOSER (8PM NBC, E! in Canada)
Is there no show celebriwhore chef Rocco DiSpirito won’t do? As of tonight, I think we all know the answer.

DANCING WITH THE STARS (9PM ABC)
Beyonce may have sung “At Last” at the inauguration, but Etta James croons the tune she’s best known for on tonight’s results show. That’s almost — not quite, but almost — enough to get me to watch.

THE MENTALIST (9PM CBS)
THE NANNY alum Nicholle Tom plays Marilyn Monroe as the team heads to Hollywood to try and solve the murder of a movie producer. What am I saying, “try to solve”? I’m pretty sure we all know they’ll be successful. Perhaps instead they should focus on finding out what the heck Tom has been doing in the years since her sitcom went off the air!

LAW & ORDER: SVU (10PM NBC, CTV in Canada)
When one case seems connected to another, the hunt is on for a serial killer. Unfortunately, another cop — one who is pretty territorial — is already on the case.

WITHOUT A TRACE (10PM CBS)
Matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match… just try and get that diddy out of your head! Tonight’s outing has a Russian matchmaker vanishing (all together now: without a trace!) and leaving behind a long, long list of suspects who probably wish they’d just gone the Craigslist route.

AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Rumor has it producers have already picked their final four. A reality show manipulating the outcome? Quelle shocker!

NEW & NOTABLE:
DANCING WITH THE STARS (8PM ABC)
Listen, ABC might be calling this a “new” episode, but seeing as it’s just a recap of the best performances so far this season, we’re calling it a rerun. But hey, here’s hoping those of you who didn’t tune in for KINGS the other night are thrilled to have another hour of primetime television eaten up by reality TV. Enjoy! At 9 p.m., you can catch the first results show of the season… which I’ll bet will feature clips of the very performances spotlighted in the first hour.

THE BIGGEST LOSER (8PM NBC)
While home, the contestants have to run a half marathon and make healthy food choices. (Now I’m not gonna lie. A friend of mine ran a half marathon a few weeks back and I was winded just watching her jog past.) As if that weren’t hellish enough, they later face a cookie temptation. Yeah, I’d so be toast on this show. And then, because I’ve always loved toast, I’d have to consume myself.

REAPER (8PM CW)
Sooner or later, every show feels the need to do a boxing-centric show. I don’t know why, they just do. REAPER is getting it out of the way tonight. Meanwhile, Ben worries that his pals won’t accept his girlfriend. Sure, she’s hot and all… but she’s also a demon. Wonder if the Winchester boys will come over and try to do her in? Now that would get me to watch this show.

NCIS (8PM CBS)
Uh-oh. When Vance’s friend is killed, Gibbs winds up digging into his pal’s past. Expect Gibbs to be a tad bothered by the director’s approach.

LAST RESTAURANT STANDING (9PM BBC America)
See, watching this network can be very educational. For example, tonight we learn that what we ugly Americans refer to as “take-out” meals, our English pals call “take-AWAY” meals. Never say that I don’t try and broaden your minds, people.

THE MENTALIST (9PM CBS)
Jane loses his site and must rely on his other senses. Whatcha wanna bet he’ll get his vision back by the end of the hour? Even soap opera characters lose their vision for longer than that!

I DIDN’T KNOW I WAS PREGNANT (9PM Discovery Health)
An Irish rocker goes into labor. Too bad she, as the title of this new series would imply, had no clue she was expecting. In fact, the hard-living life she’s been leading has a not-so-great impact on the child.

LAW & ORDER: SVU (10PM NBC, CTV in Canada)
All you need to know is that tonight’s guest star is Carol Burnett… and that she plays a strip-club owner.

WITHOUT A TRACE (10PM CBS)
Jack and Sam have to adjust to Brian spending a lot more time with Finn. I’m sure if you watch this show, that makes sense. If not, just know that in other news, a trial consultant vanishes. Oh, and former GENERAL HOSPITAL babe Vanessa Marcil appears. And by “former” we mean as in “she used to be on” not “she used to be hot.” Because she still is. Majorly.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO (10:03PM ABC)
Okay, BIG LOVE fans, here’s a question for you: You’re in a restaurant when an old man sits down with this three wives. They’re celebrating his upcoming marriage to his fourth wife… a 15-year-old who is clearly not keen on the idea. What would you do?

LISTEN: To what may be the next best thing to a Marc and Amanda spin-off, the official UGLY BETTY podcast featuring, you guessed it, Marc and Amanda. [Click here to listen]

LEARN: That the CW cares very little about the fate of REAPER as evidence by its questionable decision to launch its second season (which attracted a disappointing 2.3 million viewers) up against FOX’s unstoppable reality TV Juggernaut AMERICAN IDOL (which by comparison garnered 24.3 million viewers.) [Source]

PUKE: At the realization that Jennifer Aniston’s hairstyle for the Oscars cost a reported $56,000 while the average American makes roughly $32,000 per year. [Source]

Apparently, the big five network’s failed get the memo that sweeps moved to March. How else to explain the fact that tonight lineup features repeats of virtually all of your favorite show including: NCIS, THE MENTALIST, WITHOUT A TRACE, SCRUBS, and 90210.

NEW & NOTABLE:
REAPER (8PM CW)
REAPER was easily one of the most promising new shows of last season — too bad it teetered out halfway through. The strike didn’t help. Season 2 doesn’t disrupt the drollness: Sam (Bret Harrison), now officially the Devil’s son, is back to sending souls back to hell, this week with a cattle prod. Ray Wise’s performance as a giddy Lucifer is still great, but what REAPER desperately needs is to embrace a serialized element beyond the habitual bagging and tagging. — Aleks Chan

Dear TV Addict, as much as I loved last week’s mythology-laden episode BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, please tell me tonight’s episode involves a lot less thinking? — TighMeUp
The TV Addict: Is it just me, or are TV fans incredibly hard to please? I mean we all spend season after season clamoring for answers, only to complain the moment we finally get them! God help LOSTerminds Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse when they finally fill us all in on the mysteries behind the island, the four-toed statue, Ben’s mom, Claire’s disappearance, Jack’s father… well, you get the idea. But to answer your question, rest assured tonight’s episode is far less taxing on the brain cells. Not only does Ellen Tigh return in all her former glory, she gives new meaning to the phrase, “If this Viper is a rockin’…. don’t come a knockin!”

I have an unhealthy obsession with Jonathan Jackson, can you please tell me we are going to see more of him on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. — Jackson1
The TV Addict: I can do one better than simply tell you, I can be the first to reveal to you exclusively that Jonathan Jackson will indeed (all together now) be back, for multiple episodes no less. “Kyle Reese is the kind of character that fans are excited about and is good for the show,” revealed Jackson during last week’s one-on-one with theTVaddict.com. “I’ve shot three episodes so far and I’m about to shoot a fourth in a couple of weeks. A lot of stuff has been in the future, and Brian Austin Green who plays Derek has been great. Such a good guy and a great actor to work with.”

A while back you twittered that you were getting ready to see Lauren Graham in GUYS & DOLLS on Broadway. So… how was she? — StarsHollowHolla
The TV Addict: Well let’s put it this way. Had Rory Gilmore been reviewing the show for the Yale Daily News, she definitely wouldn’t have walked out. In fact, she would have been immensely proud of her fictional TV mom for not only proving that she has the pipes to belong on Broadway. But for more importantly showing that she can actually act and create a character that was hilarious, heartwarming and best of all, absolutely nothing like Lorelai Gilmore. Miss Patty would have been proud… and we’re just going to say, possibly a little jealous.

Got any scoop on Tuesday’s season finale of PRIVILEGED? — Sagetastic13
The TV Addict: Would you settle for a warning? Because if you can’t find the time to rope in at minimum five of your friends into watching one of the season’s most underrated new shows, you’re more likely to catch what will turn out to be the show’s series finale. For more on PRIVILEGED, be sure to check out this <strike>week’s</strike> month’s TV Addict podcast for our spur-of-the-moment SAVE PRIVILEGED campaign!

Any word on how the new season of REAPER is shaping up? — IHeartHarrison
The TV Addict: I will next week after I take the time to crack open the REAPER screener that’s been collecting dust on my desk for the better part of a month now. Stay tuned.

Please tell me tonight’s installment of DOLLHOUSE brings a little more excitement to the table? Because even I, the most ardent of ardent Whedon supporters found last week’s pilot seriously subpar. — WildaboutWhedon
The TV Addict: First of all, do you seriously expect me to believe you’re one of Whedon’s most ardent of ardent supporters when you’re already waving after episode one. Shame one you! That said, you’ll be pleased to know that tonight’s second episode introduces us to an entirely different Echo. One that must outwit, outplay and outlast one ridiculously deranged “client.” Oh, and if that’s not enough of an assurance, how’s this picture? Eliza + Crossbow = Awesome

Ellen Tigh returning to Galactica? Are you Frakkin’ kidding me with this? Where’s the scoop? Anyone could have picked that up from the Frakkin’ trailer? What else ya got? — TotallyFrakkedinTdot
The TV Addict: Putting aside the fact that somebody clearly woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or is taking the fact that we’re a mere month away from Galactica’s final voyage a little too hard, how’s this for genuine TV scoop: Another death hits Galactica tonight, one that will have major implications for the already tenuous human/cylon alliance.

Oh and while we’re on the subject of your cranky moods Mr. TotallyFrakkedinTdot, I should probably take this opportunity to mention that theTVaddict.com has some exciting BATTLESTAR GALACTICA news in the works that is pretty much guaranteed to turn that frown upside-down. Unless of course you live outside of Toronto or the surrounding GTA. Then you’re pretty much still totally Frakked!

I’m finding myself more and more intrigued by the increasingly frequent KINGS trailers that NBC is putting out. What can you tell me about this new series? — Jess
The TV Addict: Having recently had the pleasure of visiting the set of KINGS there is an awful lot I could tell you. Unfortunately, after signing a twenty page document that may or may not have promised my first born to NBC Universal should I share any spoilers, here’s what I can say. While you’ll initially tune in for Ian McShane’s phenomenal portrayal of morally ambiguous King Silas Benjamin, you’ll stick around for easy on the eyes Aussie import Christopher Egan who plays young David Shepherd and Leighton Meester’s real-life boyfriend Sebastian Stan who does a remarkable job of channeling GOSSIP GIRL’s Ed Westwick. Which if you think about it, kind of means that Leighton Meester really does have a thing for Chuck Bass. Interesting.

Want more KINGS scoop? Enjoy this exclusive bloggers Q&A that TV Addict took part in on our recent visit to New York City. And be sure to check back later in the day for a word or two from Ian McShane.

Thanks to the recent WGA Strike, writers throughout Hollywood must now working feverishly to complete five or six new episodes by season’s end. With that in mind, this TV Addict thought he’d lend the proverbial hand and offer up some possible plot ideas for a handful of our favorite shows. You know, because there’s no such thing as a bad idea.

LOST
It’s time to face the facts. Claire must die. Not only can you count on one hand the amount of screen-time Emilie de Ravin has accumulated this season [two hands if you're counting last season]. You know it’s time to go when your non-speaking infant offspring [Baby Aaron] generates more passionate debate, online speculation and fan reaction than you do.

HOUSE
Is it not time to put an end to the age-old question: Which HOUSE ‘team’ is better? In other words, how long until the good doctor pits Cameron, Chase and Foreman against this season’s team of next generation newbies? One baffling medical mystery, two teams, one cutthroat bitch just for the fun of it. Paging May Sweeps!

ONE TREE HILL
So Dan returns a hero after rescuing Jamie from Single White Nanny on last night’s 100th episode of ONE TREE HILL. Surely this TV Addict isn’t the only one who’s not about to let Keith’s killer off the hook that easily. When is showrunner Mark Schwahn going to reveal that Dan was in cahoots with Nanny Carrie from the start of the season and that the entire Jamie kidnapping plot was an ingenious [read: evil] ‘Dan Plan’ to weasel himself back into his family’s good graces?

REAPER
Should the unthinkable happen and REAPER end up on the brink of cancellation. This TV Addict would like to see SUPERNATURAL’s Sam and Dean arrive on the scene to free REAPER’s Sam from his deal with the devil. In the business of show, it’s called poetic justice.

You know why SAMANTHA WHO? is my household’s favorite new show? Because it isn’t trying to reinvent the long-rumored-to-be-dead comedy genre, it’s just — and this is pretty crucial — funny. Very, very funny. Every performance is spot on. Yes, yes, Melissa McCarthy is basically playing GILMORE GIRLS gal pal Sookie, but I loved that character (before she became a breeding machine) so big whoop. Best of all, SAMANTHA doesn’t settle for the typical sitcom set-up, punch line dialogue, instead offering such witty exchanges as when our heroine apologized for dragging Andrea (the deliciously wicked Jennifer Esposito) into her web of deceit, only to have the bad girl reply, “I’m a lawyer. Web of deceit is where I pick up my mail.” This week’s outing — in which Samantha’s car accident triggered a chain of lies leading to an unexpected twist involving mom Jean Smart — was another sparkling entry, although it would have been nice to see Sam’s in-progress story with Eddie Cibrian continue. Then again, no need to rush things… right?

I tried watching another episode of REAPER last night, and within the first five seconds, Tyler Labine — or rather his character, Sock — was once again ruining the show for me. The guy is a seriously talented actor, but I just can’t stand the walking slacker stereotype he’s playing. Not that his alter ego isn’t completely in keeping with the tone of this show, on which Ray Wise’s devil refers to his minion as a “wienie.” You don’t need to see the scene in which the lead’s two best friends easily convince his girlfriend to bare all in a hot tub to realize who the target audience is here. We’re in what was once Porky’s territory here, where authority figures are to be mocked, feminism is a dirty word and men will be boys.

There’s something kind of kharmicly pleasing when one of the annoying twosomes is eliminated from THE AMAZING RACE. This time around, it was bickering Shana and Jennifer. While they weren’t as bad as some previous contestants, their whiny, bitchy ways had me hoping that the next leg of the race would involve a bus which someone could then throw them under. And yet, such is the power of this show’s closing moments that when the two annoying blondes spoke of having learned so much during their journey and then were shown walking hand-in-hand into the sunset toward a gorgeous windmill, I couldn’t help thinking, “Aww… they’re not that bad!” Especially when compared to Nate and Jen. At various points in the evening, he called her a bitch and said “I just can’t believe what kind of person you’ve turned into. It’s the ugliest thing I’ve seen in my life.” Her response? “Same with you, Nate.” At this point, I’m totally rooting for Kynt and Vyxsin, the goth duo who seem not only genuinely nice and loving, but actually take the time to smell the roses. Far too few of the teams seem to do that.

Finally caught the big wedding episode of BROTHERS & SISTERS. I don’t understand why this show refuses to keep a secret for more than two episodes. Wouldn’t the revelation that Justin’s kinda-girlfriend was most recently sleeping in his brother’s bed have had a bigger impact if the newer relationship had been given time to develop? If storylines move to quickly, it becomes an endless succession of plot points with no deep emotional payoff. When Lena sort of hinted what we’ve all been thinking — that Rebecca’s feelings for Justin aren’t exactly of the brotherly love nature — I was extremely pleased… until the end of the episode’s mini thirtysomething reunion between Ken Olin (what the hell happened to him? No wonder he’s taken to directing…) and Patricia Wettig. Does anybody doubt for a minute that his B&S alter ego, David, will turn out to be Rebecca’s real pop? That said, I’m dying to see how the uber-judgmental Walker clan reacts to Justin and Becca going from instasiblings to bed buddies.

I saw one of the first commercials for ABC’s CASHMERE MAFIA the other night. Come on… four chicks walking down the street in total SEX & THE CITY mode and then a clip in which one of them declares to the fiance of their newly engaged friend, “Be good to her or we’ll break every bone in your body.” This is the best you’ve got? Heck, they don’t even say “from the creator of SEX & THE CITY” which is the obvious selling point. I’d bet dollars to donuts the same person who designed the pre-launch campaign for BIG SHOTS was responsible for this… and we all know how well that show’s doing!

ONE LIFE TO LIVE — which was an unholy mess under former headwriter Dena Higley — has become one of daytime’s best soaps under new scribe Ron Carlivati. It is in equal parts funny (please, God, do whatever it takes to get Tuc Watkins — currently doing double-duty thanks to his recurring stint as one of the gay boys on the DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES block — to come back permanently) and engrossing (the “all-roads-lead-to-Paris… Texas” storyline), with a cast of actors who can handle whatever material is dealt to them. If anything, this show has too many blessings, explaining why we practically never see such crowd-pleasing characters as Roxy (the woefully underappreciated Ilene Kristen), although it’s great to see Erika Slezak’s Viki right back where she should be… at the heart of the action. Here’s hoping the writers strike doesn’t throw this show off its game.
