Tonight’s TV Addict Must Watch: PRIVILEGED

February 24th, 2009

privileged

If there is a silver lining to President Obama’s second prime-time interruption in as many months (Seriously, what is up with this guy and his constant need to communicate? Score one for George W!), it’s that now you really have no excuse not to tune into the season (and possibly series) finale of PRIVILEGED at 9PM on the CW (8PM on CityTV in Canada).

Ask the Addict: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA & TERMINATOR Spoilers, DOLLHOUSE, KINGS & More!

February 20th, 2009

Dear TV Addict, as much as I loved last week’s mythology-laden episode BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, please tell me tonight’s episode involves a lot less thinking? — TighMeUp
The TV Addict:
Is it just me, or are TV fans incredibly hard to please? I mean we all spend season after season clamoring for answers, only to complain the moment we finally get them! God help LOSTerminds Damon Lindeloff and Carlton Cuse when they finally fill us all in on the mysteries behind the island, the four-toed statue, Ben’s mom, Claire’s disappearance, Jack’s father… well, you get the idea. But to answer your question, rest assured tonight’s episode is far less taxing on the brain cells. Not only does Ellen Tigh return in all her former glory, she gives new meaning to the phrase, “If this Viper is a rockin’…. don’t come a knockin!”

I have an unhealthy obsession with Jonathan Jackson, can you please tell me we are going to see more of him on TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. — Jackson1
The TV Addict:
I can do one better than simply tell you, I can be the first to reveal to you exclusively that Jonathan Jackson will indeed (all together now) be back, for multiple episodes no less. “Kyle Reese is the kind of character that fans are excited about and is good for the show,” revealed Jackson during last week’s one-on-one with theTVaddict.com. “I’ve shot three episodes so far and I’m about to shoot a fourth in a couple of weeks. A lot of stuff has been in the future, and Brian Austin Green who plays Derek has been great. Such a good guy and a great actor to work with.”

A while back you twittered that you were getting ready to see Lauren Graham in GUYS & DOLLS on Broadway. So… how was she? — StarsHollowHolla
The TV Addict:
Well let’s put it this way. Had Rory Gilmore been reviewing the show for the Yale Daily News, she definitely wouldn’t have walked out. In fact, she would have been immensely proud of her fictional TV mom for not only proving that she has the pipes to belong on Broadway. But for more importantly showing that she can actually act and create a character that was hilarious, heartwarming and best of all, absolutely nothing like Lorelai Gilmore. Miss Patty would have been proud… and we’re just going to say, possibly a little jealous.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
SCRUBS (9PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Turk and Carla make a big announcement, which much to our chagrin probably does not include the words, “We’re sticking around Sacred Heart for a ninth season.”

FRINGE (9PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
By golly we’ve got it, the world’s worst drinking game. Take a shot every-time Astrid (the adorable Jasika Nicole) gets an actual line! But seriously folks, do not miss what Executive Producer Jeff Pinkner calls “a total game changer” of an episode.

90210 (8PM CW, 9PM Global in Canada)
Annie’s jealousy of Rhonda starts to wear on Ethan. Which is odd, because one would think Ethan would find Annie’s incessant smiling far more annoying.

PRIVILEGED (8PM CW, 8PM CityTV in Canada)
LIPSTICK JUNGLE’s Kirby (Robert Buckley) drops by PRIVILEGED. Which means by our calculations, PRIVILEGED fans best be starting their “Save Our Show” Campaign in 3… 2… 1..

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
AMERICAN IDOL (8PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Hurray for Hollywood! Finally!

90210 (8PM CW, 9PM Global in Canada)
It’s time for Adriana to tell a few people she’s got a bun in the oven… including her fellow baker. Meanwhile, Annie’s feeling threatened by Ethan’s relationship with another gal, and Dixon finally gets Silver to open up. (Not like that, you pervs!) Wait… um, hello, why is there no mention of Brenda or Kelly? Do these people not know where their money is???

SCRUBS (9PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
What’s this? The potential of an unholy alliance between Cox and Kelso? Isn’t that a sign of the apocalypse? Somebody get the Winchester brothers on the line, STAT!

PRIVILEGED (9PM CW, 8PM CityTV in Canada)
Charlie finally man’s up and tells Megan how he feels. Of course, it true wuss fashion he does it has he’s about to leave for school in California. And it’s good news/bad news for Sage. On the plus side, she doesn’t have to worry that Luis will frown on her virginity. On the down side, he’s a big ol’ Jesus boy, which means she’ll probably stay that way for a while.

FRINGE (9PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Remember that plane full of dead people that kicked this series off? Tonight, there’s another plane-related disaster. Could they be connected? I don’t know, but look at those tricky folks at the aptly named FOX, starting this at 9:01 in the hope that having missed the first minute of everything else on the airwaves, we’ll stay tuned.

SCRUBS (9:30PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Another new episode? Um, ABC, you do know that sweeps has been moved to March, right? Why do I get the feeling you’re gonna be stuck with nothing to air except GEORGE LOPEZ reruns?

First Look: Robert Buckley Guest Stars on PRIVILEGED

February 3rd, 2009

robert buckley

Now we’re not saying the CW is completely missing the point when it comes to casting Robert Buckley in next week’s brand new episode of PRIVILEGED. We just can’t help but feel that LIPSTICK JUNGLE and FLIRTING WITH FORTY got it right in terms of giving the audience what they want.

Good News, Bad News: CHUCK, PRIVILEGED, REAPER & More!

February 3rd, 2009

Good News: The heavily hyped post-Super Bowl 3D episode of CHUCK netted the criminally under-watched series its best ratings of the season. Bad News: Too bad 8.35 million viewers still weren’t enough to put a dent in HOUSE, THE BIG BANG THEORY or THE BACHELOR which still managed to wipe the floor with the gang from Buy More. [Source]

Good News: For REAPER fans, who will get to see their favorite series return on March 3 — two weeks earlier than originally planned. Bad News: For PRIVILEGED fans, whose season (or is it series?) will wrap up earlier then originally planned, possibly indicating the CW’s lack of long term confidence in the series. [Source]

Good News: ABC Family orders 20 more episodes of GREEK (a TV Addict favorite) and announces a summer 2009 bow. Bad News: And quietly cancels KYLE XY in the process. [Source]

TONIGHT’S TV ADDICTIONS:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM on FOX, “A” Channel in Canada)
Rumor Alert: Summer Glau loses all of her clothes in an action-packed shoot-out (And yes, we’re not above making stuff up to get you people to tune into this show!)

GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
Aaron, or as we like to call him, television’s lamest love interest, burns to death in a horrible plane crash. Oh wait, must not replace what we’re hoping happens with the actual story-line.

PRIVILEGED (9PM CW, E! in Canada)
‘Tis the season for Megan to get caught under the mistletoe.

BOSTON LEGAL (10PM ABC, Global in Canada)
As BOSTON LEGAL inches closer an closer to its series finale, this TV Addict must come to grips that jumping on the BL bandwagon in its final season may not have been the brightest idea.

NEW & NOTABLE:
INSIDE THE ACTOR’S STUDIO (8PM Bravo)
The Harry Potter fandom anxiously holds their breath in the hopes that Dan Radcliffe delivers a verbal smack-down to former POTTER co-star and current overhyped “it” boy Robert Pattinson. Or maybe it’s just us.

MY OWN WORST ENEMY (10PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Spoiler Alert: Turns out Christian Slater’s own worst enemy was an indifferent audience.

THETVADDICT.COM READER PICK (via Twitter):
Memles: With PUSHING DAISIES gone, CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada) is the last great hope for the 07 Freshman Class. It deserves our allegiance.

Good News, Bad News: PRIVILEGED, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, SNL & HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

November 13th, 2008

Good News: After picking up PRIVILEGED for five additional episodes, this TV Addict’s faith in a network’s ability to show patience by allowing a show to find its audience was momentarily restored. Bad News: For quite literally, three hours, until news leaked out that NBC has cancelled MY OWN WORST ENEMY and LIPSTICK JUNGLE. The latter of which I really was enjoying. [Source]

Good News: In the wake of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s departure, SNL has upped their female quotient by adding two female cast members, Michaela Watkins and Abby Elliot. Bad News: Both of whom we’re pretty sure are going to have a challenging time playing Michelle Obama. Paging the diversity police, anyone… [Source]

Good News: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER continues to make headlines. Bad News: By pandering to the worst of America’s television sensibilities and booking famous-for-nothings Kim Kardashian, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt for an upcoming episode. [Source]

PRIVILEGED Picked Up For Five!

November 12th, 2008

Attention Sage Baker. Your quest to become the next Paris hilton just got a little bit easier thanks to this afternoon’s surprising, albeit welcome announcement that the CW has decided to order five more episodes of the TV Addict’s favorite fall show PRIVILEGED. Also set to help is the CW’s savvy programming decision (no really, you’re reading that correctly) to award PRIVILEGED with the cushy post-GOSSIP GIRL time-slot on December 1 and 8. Here’s hoping America will finally clue into what this TV Addict has been saying since PRIVILEGED premiered. Next to LIFE ON MARS, it’s the best fall show that you’re not watching.
