summer glau

TONIGHT’S TV ADDICTIONS:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM on FOX, “A” Channel in Canada)
Rumor Alert: Summer Glau loses all of her clothes in an action-packed shoot-out (And yes, we’re not above making stuff up to get you people to tune into this show!)

GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
Aaron, or as we like to call him, television’s lamest love interest, burns to death in a horrible plane crash. Oh wait, must not replace what we’re hoping happens with the actual story-line.

PRIVILEGED (9PM CW, E! in Canada)
‘Tis the season for Megan to get caught under the mistletoe.

BOSTON LEGAL (10PM ABC, Global in Canada)
As BOSTON LEGAL inches closer an closer to its series finale, this TV Addict must come to grips that jumping on the BL bandwagon in its final season may not have been the brightest idea.

NEW & NOTABLE:
INSIDE THE ACTOR’S STUDIO (8PM Bravo)
The Harry Potter fandom anxiously holds their breath in the hopes that Dan Radcliffe delivers a verbal smack-down to former POTTER co-star and current overhyped “it” boy Robert Pattinson. Or maybe it’s just us.

MY OWN WORST ENEMY (10PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Spoiler Alert: Turns out Christian Slater’s own worst enemy was an indifferent audience.

THETVADDICT.COM READER PICK (via Twitter):
Memles: With PUSHING DAISIES gone, CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada) is the last great hope for the 07 Freshman Class. It deserves our allegiance.

Good News, Bad News: PRIVILEGED, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, SNL & HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

November 13th, 2008

Good News: After picking up PRIVILEGED for five additional episodes, this TV Addict’s faith in a network’s ability to show patience by allowing a show to find its audience was momentarily restored. Bad News: For quite literally, three hours, until news leaked out that NBC has cancelled MY OWN WORST ENEMY and LIPSTICK JUNGLE. The latter of which I really was enjoying. [Source]

Good News: In the wake of Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s departure, SNL has upped their female quotient by adding two female cast members, Michaela Watkins and Abby Elliot. Bad News: Both of whom we’re pretty sure are going to have a challenging time playing Michelle Obama. Paging the diversity police, anyone… [Source]

Good News: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER continues to make headlines. Bad News: By pandering to the worst of America’s television sensibilities and booking famous-for-nothings Kim Kardashian, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt for an upcoming episode. [Source]

PRIVILEGED Picked Up For Five!

November 12th, 2008

Attention Sage Baker. Your quest to become the next Paris hilton just got a little bit easier thanks to this afternoon’s surprising, albeit welcome announcement that the CW has decided to order five more episodes of the TV Addict’s favorite fall show PRIVILEGED. Also set to help is the CW’s savvy programming decision (no really, you’re reading that correctly) to award PRIVILEGED with the cushy post-GOSSIP GIRL time-slot on December 1 and 8. Here’s hoping America will finally clue into what this TV Addict has been saying since PRIVILEGED premiered. Next to LIFE ON MARS, it’s the best fall show that you’re not watching.

Question of the Day: PRIVILEGED For Perez?

November 10th, 2008

When it comes to enticing you to watch Tuesday night’s brand new episode of PRIVILEGED, does a cameo by the self-proclaimed “Queen of All Media” Perez Hilton help or hurt?

November Sweeps Stunts: CW Edition

Perez Hilton Guests on PRIVILEGED

When it comes to pandering, McCain and Obama have nothing on the Big 5 Television Networks. Which is why theTVaddict.com will be spending the next few days highlighting some of the most blatant sweeps casting stunts since Britney appeared on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. First up the CW, complete with witty one-lines free of charge.

November 3: THE OC’s Willa Holland returns as Jenny’s bad influence on GOSSIP GIRL. In related gossip, Holland’s fictional TV sister Misha Barton is quietly segwaying into professional dog walking. Awkward.

November 4: 90210’s Harry and Debbie tell Annie and Dixon that their Grandmother is being written out of the show about Harry’s son who was given up for adoption.

November 4: Our favorite Nun Kathy Najimy guest stars as the twin’s hot-shot publicist on PRIVILEGED.

November 6: After discovering how not so super the unemployment line is, Supergirl (Laura Vandervoort) returns to SMALLVILLE.

Exclusive Interview: PRIVILEGED Showrunner Rina Mimoun

October 21st, 2008

By: Amrie Cunningham, My Take on TV

We’ve all heard it said a million times before, every TV season. There is that awesome show that no one is watching. The show that you immediately hook onto, and can’t stand the thought of losing it because people are just not paying attention, and it makes you sad when people don’t catch on. For me, this season, it’s PRIVILEGED on The CW.

Based on the book “How to Teach Filthy Rich Girls,” the show is about Megan Smith (Joanna Garcia, REBA), a recent college graduate who, through a comedy of errors including fluorescent red hair, and a slight house fire, ends up in Palm Beach as the tutor to two heiresses, Rose (Lucy Hale) and Sage Baker (Ashley Newbrough). Her mission is to help the two underachievers get college-worthy grades. Along the way, while she meets hot guy after hot guy, she wades the treacherous waters of her terribly embarrassing family and she tries to figure out who she really is.

PRIVILEGED harkens back to the days of The WB glory when DAWSON’S CREEK, GILMORE GIRLS, EVERWOOD, JACK AND JILL were all on. They were these glossy romantic worlds that you could fall into every week. The reason it resembles those shows so much is that the creator and executive producer of the show is none other than the brilliant, and funny, and charming Rina Mimoun, who had more than a little something to do with all of the above (not to mention writing the script for my favorite season 1 PUSHING DAISIES episode, “Pigeon”).

We had the chance to spend some quality time with Rina last week on a very small conference call to celebrate the brand new episode of PRIVILEGED airing Tuesday. Among the things we discussed - how the show got started, where it’s going next and what other EVERWOOD alum (Sarah Drew is guesting in one episode this November) we should expect to see if the ratings perk up and they get their back nine!

Good News, Bad News: PRIVILEGED, SNL and KATH & KIM

October 9th, 2008

Good News: With ratings up 22% from the previous week, America may be finally cluing into what this TV Addict has been espousing for a month now. PRIVILEGED is the best new show that you’re not watching. Bad News: That, or the show simply benefited from being the only new show up against the Presidential debate. But hey, let’s just pretend for a moment that that’s not the case. [Source]

Good News: Tonight marks the first of four consecutive SNL Weekend Update Thursdays following a brand new episode of THE OFFICE. Bad News: Don’t be fooled! The majority of tonight’s ‘Very Special’ Weekend Update Thursday will be comprised of political sketches from previous episodes of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. In other-words, expect a cleverly disguised clip show. [Source]

Good News: And speaking of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. After far too long a hiatus, Molly Shannon returns to the small screen this evening. Bad News: KATH & KIM was not the return this TV Addict was hoping for.

You Be the Critic: 90210, FRINGE, PRIVILEGED & HOUSE

September 17th, 2008

jessica walter 90210

Now would be the time to let the world know and by ‘world,’ I of course mean the millions thousands of readers that are visiting theTVaddict.com on a daily basis what you, yes YOU thought of last night’s TV. Or to be more specific, 90210, FRINGE, PRIVILEGED and HOUSE.

And to get your started, here is this TV Addict’s brief rant on last night’s installment of 90210. Because honestly, I’m still scratching my head as to FRINGE’s mindboggling ending [Sorry Linda B.] and didn’t manage to stay up to watch PRIVILEGED because sadly, there is only so much TV one can watch in a single evening [Especially when I managed to squeeze in the final two episodes of WEEDS phenomenal fourth season]

5 Things That Put a Smile on This TV Addict’s Face This Week

August 8th, 2008

house cast season five promo pic

1. NEW PROMO PHOTOS: While some may argue that this TV Addict needs to get outside more, I’m just going to go ahead and say it. New promo photos make me giddy! Not only do they signify that the Fall TV Season is just around the corner. But Hello!?!? Surely I’m not the only one who’s beginning to think that the fine looking doctors of Princenton-Plainsboro are starting to give the dysfunctional gang from Seattle Grace a run for their money.

2. AN EVERWOOD REUNION: Now admittedly, Michael Ausiello totally deserves to be tied to a chair and force fed season after season of ACCORDING TO JIM for his incredibly misleading title that immeditatly got me thinking, “Gregory Smith on BROTHERS & SISTERS!” But nonetheless, in accordance with my [FOR] EVERWOOD obsession, this TV Addict is stoked that showrunner Rina Mimoun has tapped the adorable Sarah Drew [Hannah] for what will hopefully turn into a recurring guest stint on the CW’s PRIVILEGED. And while on the subject of the CW’s other new drama. You know, the one that doesn’t feature that famous zip code. You heard it here first. PRIVILEGED is going to be the CW hit that nobody saw coming.
