NIP/TUCK Scoop: Rosie Returning

March 9th, 2007

Following last night’s NIP/TUCK event at the 2007 Paley Festival, creator Ryan Murphy was kind enough to answer a few questions for a gaggle of reporters. At the top of the list was whether or not ROSIE O’DONNELL’S popular character from last season — Dawn Budge would be returning. Murphy confirmed that Rosie would indeed be returning and that since the show’s now set in Hollywood, we should expect to see quite a parade of famous guest stars. Stop the presses — Celebrities like plastic surgery? Who knew!

Check back later today for theTVaddict.com’s full report from the NIP/TUCK panel at the Paley Festival.

We Declare Today Canada Day!

March 4th, 2007

theTVaddict.com is declaring today — a cold and dreary Sunday in March — CANADA DAY in the world of television. Now before you run to turn OFF your television in fear of a surprise Celine Dion guest appearance on EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, let me me take a moment to explain why we’ve declared today Canada Day Part Duex.

THE WINNER
FOX’s latest attempt to replicate their animated SIMPSONS success premieres tonight with the first two episodes of the Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY) produced half hour laugher called THE WINNER. THE WINNER, stars everybody’s (or at least our) favourite DAILY SHOW correspondent Rob Corrdry as Glen Abbott, a 32-year-old man-child still living at home with his parents in early 1990s Buffalo.
CANADIAN CONNECTION
THE WINNER has not one, but two Canadian connections. Glen Abbott’s life is based on the life of Native Montrealer Ricky Blitt. Who not only wrote the pilot, but conceded in a recent interview with the Toronto Star that the show is “very autobiographical.”

The show’s second Canadian connection belongs to young Keir Gilchrist. The local Torontonian, who at 14, must hold his own against funny-man Rob Corrdry. Gilchrist plays the teenage neighbor who Corrdry befriends in order to get closer to his mom, who coincidentally happens to be his childhood crush. “He’s like a 35-year-old and I’m like a 14-year-old,” says co-star Rob Corrddry of Gilchrist. “So we sort of meet in the middle”

BROTHERS & SISTERS
theTVaddict’s new favourite drama (alongside FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) returns tonight after an Oscar hiatus. On tonight’s episode, entitled “The Other Walker”, the family discovers what the audience has known for quite a while — William and Holly had a child together named Rebecca.
CANADIAN CONNECTION
‘The Other’ that the episode’s title is referring to is none other then fellow Canadian (Port Perry native) and EVERWOOD alum Emily VanCamp. Emily plays Rebecca, who as you can see from this clip, made quite an impression on a shocked Tommy Walker at the end of BROTHERS & SISTERS last episode. We at theTVaddict.com cannot wait for sparks to fly tonight when the entire family discovers The Other Walker.’ And knowing the modus operandi of the Walker clan, we predict that the episode will end with one very memorable and akward tear-soaked family dinner. Seriously, can someone tell us why the Walker Family even bothers to sit down for dinner? It never ends well!

Will Rosie Leave THE VIEW for NIP/TUCK?

December 5th, 2006

According to Access Hollywood, Rosie O’Donnell is preparing to leave THE VIEW for NIP/TUCK. Apparently, during a commercial break on THE VIEW, Rosie told the studio audience that she’s been offered the female lead of the show since Joely Richardson is leaving for a year. According to Access Hollywood:

She said that she’d play the character of Dawn Budge, who was introduced in a guest role this past (the show’s 4th) season. Dawn would be the owner of the plastic surgery center and do things like “sneak Cher in the back door” and then hire paparazzi to take pictures. Rosie added that it would be a 15-week shoot in LA. She didn’t say if she was going to do it, but it sounded very much like she’s leaning towards it.

No word on how this could affect her schedule with THE VIEW, but Rosie has said that she’s only signed on to co-host for one season of Barbara Walters’ morning talk-fest.

Tonight’s Premieres: House & Nip/Tuck

September 5th, 2006

America’s favourite irreverent/controversial doctor returns to TV tonight as HOUSE begins its third season on FOX (8pm Tuesday EST). While I won’t be watching the premiere (for the incredible reason why not, tune in tomorrow…seriously, i’ll be doing something way cooler… any TV addict’s fantasy, ok not quite, I may have oversold it, but tune in tomorrow to find out) I’ll be PVRing the episode.

Another show I won’t be watching tonight is the fourth season premiere of FX’s deliciously disturbing drama NIP/TUCK. My reason for not watching is because yet again, CTV (Canada’s Television Network — sad but true), has decided to delay the premiere. According to their web site, “CTV will be airing the 4th Season of Nip/Tuck, however, no premiere airdate has been confirmed at this time.”

Once again, this TV addict will be forced to view the show via alternative methods. CTV, your lack of respect for the fans of NIP/TUCK will earn you one less viewer whenever you decide to air season four (and yes, one viewer will make a huge difference to CTV’s bottom line).

My Take on TV: Nip/Tuck Premieres

September 5th, 2006

Do you remember last year when Nip/Tuck fans were all so frakking excited about Season 3 starting, and everyone was talking about who The Carver would be, and we all felt that bringing Quentin on was definitely a red herring and that someone else had to be the murderous felon because bringing Bruno Campos on to the cast was just too, too obvious, not to mention how exciting the idea of the fabulous Rhona Mitra (Tara from The Practice/Boston Legal) being a cast member? How, coming off of Seasons 1 and 2, there wasn’t a show that did drama, and crazy bat-shit stuff better and with more believability than Nip/Tuck?

The anticipation was intense, and friends of mine from work actually had countdown calendars to the season premiere. We had a party and then each week, we watched together, feeling less and less excited as the season went on.

As Seen on CTV….

September 4th, 2006

Tomorrow night at 10pm, the fourth season of NIP/TUCK premieres on the FX Network. Unfortunately, Canadian fans of the show will not get to watch the premiere with our friends to the south. The reason for this is that CTV, the Canadian network that owns the rights to NIP/TUCK hasn’t decided when they plan on airing the show. According to their web site, (CTV.ca), “CTV will be airing the 4th Season of Nip/Tuck, however, no premiere airdate has been confirmed at this time.”

Yet again, this TV addict will get on his high horse (why, because I can) and say that this isn’t acceptable! In the era of internet message boards and television web site, shows like NIP/TUCK need to be aired concurrently with our US friends. It completely ruins the TV experience for us when CTV will air a show months after everyone else on the internet has already spoiled it for us.

While I’m on my soapbox, let me also say how much it bothers me that CTV labels the new DVD seasons of VERONICA MARS and NIP/TUCK with stickers that read ‘as seen on CTV.’ With the help of Photoshop, I’ve re-designed the sticker to spout the truth (see photo above).

NIP/TUCK Returns September 5

August 16th, 2006

While I could cut-up last season for being too Carver-centric and having the most ridiculous/unbelievable finale on TV — the truth remains that NIP/TUCK, even at its worst, is still one of the most entertaining hours you’ll find on television. The FX drama is original, daring and filled with incredibly messed-up beautiful people (and who doesn’t love watching hot people screw up).

Season four looks to be back-on-track, with creator/genius Ryan Murphy back at the helm, and a line-up of Guest Stars that would make WILL & GRACE green with envy. Stay tunes all season long for pop-ins by Rosie O’Donnell, Mario Lopez (Saved by the Bell Alum Alert!), Kathleen Turner, Brooke Shields, Richard Chamberlain, Jaqueline Bisset and Catherine Deneuve.

Can’t wait for September 5th’s premiere, check out the preview below.

AC Slater to Guest on Nip/Tuck

June 30th, 2006

One of the TV addict’s favourite alumni from Bayside High has finally found a respectable gig. According to Michael Ausiello of TVGuide, Mario Lopez, better known as AC Slater will guest star in NIP/TUCK’s upcoming third season (episode 3). Slater, sorry Mario, will guest as an ‘infuriatingly fit’ plastic surgeon that Christian meets at the gym. This TV Addict’s question: Does Slater wear his standard maroon Bayside High wrestling tights to the gym? or was that only a Wrestling team thing?

Rosie getting a Nip/Tuck!

May 25th, 2006

In her own words (on her blog rosie.com) Rosie reveals she’s doing a guest spot on NIP/TUCK. I love both Rosie and Nip/Tuck, this should be fun!

Lisa writes: I’m so excited you are going to be on Nip/Tuck! I love that show. Do you know when? Do you know anything about the character you’re going to be playing?
You’re the best!!

Rosie: i do, but i cant tell, heee heee
