Wanna see LIFE ON MARS’ Jason O’Mara (Sam) in a whole new light? Be sure to check out the premiere of TNT’s new show, TRUST ME, on Monday, January 26, at 10 p.m. ET, where you’ll be able to watch the actor pitch a fit — not to mention a DVD — as mad ad man Stu Hoffman. The series — starring Eric McCormack (WILL & GRACE) and Tom Cavanaugh (ED) as modern advertising execs — is a fast-paced, work-place dramedy (more edy than dra) which plays like a more-grounded NIP/TUCK. This isn’t entirely surprising, seeing as it comes from the medical drama’s production team. As for Mara’s gig on TRUST ME — formerly titled TRUTH IN ADVERTISING — expect it to be short-lived, meaning it won’t interfere with LIFE ON MARS in the least.

Giving Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood Daily a run for her money in the news-breaking department, yesterday’s Hollywood Reporter Live Feed broke the news that ABC plans on moving LIFE ON MARS’ from its cushy post-GREY’S ANATOMY time-slot to Wednesday night’s following LOST come January 2009.
Now this TV Addict is the first to admit that it doesn’t take a rocket scientist brain surgeon to see that the one-two combo of GREY’S ANATOMY and PRIVATE PRACTICE just makes perfect medical sense. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for LIFE ON MARS’ prospects when it moves to Wednesday at 10PM following LOST.

That said, following last night’s installment, I simply have to get this off my chest. Am I the crazy one, or are LIFE ON MARS star Jason O’Mara and BROTHERS & SISTERS Walker sibling Matthew Rhys not eerily identical. Especially when it comes to the cadence of their voices?

Admittedly, this TV Addict is a little late to the LIFE ON MARS party. But following a weekend of back-to-back-to-back episodes (or, as I like to call it, my mini MARSathon) let me just saythat if you’re not watching this time-trippin’ cop show, you’re missing out on the best new show of the season. (Sorry, J.J. Abrams… )
Based on the popular British series of the same name, MARS revolves around Detective Sam Tyler (the underappreciated Jason O’Mara) who is plowed down by a car and wakes up in a New York City where the World Trade Center is still standing, misogony is a way of life and fighting crime is a down and dirty business. This ain’t your mama’s New York City. Then again, maybe it is… because Detective Tyler has somehow been thrown back in time to 1973!
