Uncover the Secrets of KYLE XY Season Two

June 8th, 2007

kyle xy season 2 preview

Back in July of 2006, the TV Addict attended the KYLE XY panel at the San Diego Comic Con where executive producer Julie Plec had this to say about her ABC Family hit show.

“Unlike LOST, where it seems like they’re just making it up, we actually know what the secret of KYLE XY is. The key is that we started with the answer and worked our way backwards,” she explains. “We’re not going to wait until season five to answer the questions you’re dying to know, and then run out of stories to tell.” In fact, she goes on to reveal, “the answer to Kyle’s existence actually opens a completely new direction for the show. It’s not the end of the series… it’s just the beginning.”

Having just watched the second season premiere of KYLE XY, fans will be pleased to know that Plec has indeed kept her promise. In fact, within the episode’s first ten minutes, the ’secrets of Kyle’ are completely unwrapped. Questions like where Kyle comes from? Why he has super-human abilities? And most importantly — the question on every fans mind — why he has no belly-button are all answered with refreshing ease.

Yet as Plec stated above, the answer to Kyle’s existence is just the beginning. As the episode unravels, Kyle quickly realizes that danger lurks around every corner and much to his surprise, he may not be the only teenager with freakishly good math skills.

Needless to say, the season premiere delivers and fans of KYLE XY will not be disappointed. Learn the secrets for yourself by tuning into the premiere on ABC Family this Monday June 11 at 8PM.

Looking to win yourself a FANTASTIC KYLE XY PRIZE PACK? Simply post in the comments below the name of the city where the series takes place in AND the name of the city where the series is actually filmed. A winner will be chosen at random on Thursday June 14 2007. One winner will receive a fantastic KYLE XY prize pack including a Kyle XY Soundtrack, Kyle XY Season 1 DVD, 3 different teaser posters, and a Kyle XY postcards/tattoos.

Great News for Canadian KYLE XY Fans

May 30th, 2007

If you live in Canada and are a fan of the series KYLE XY today is your lucky day. This afternoon, ABC announced that much like last summer, the alphabet network will be filling its summer schedule with repurposed episodes of the hit ABC Family series.

Season two, which premieres on Monday June 11 on ABC Family will re-air four days later on ABC (Friday June 15 at 8PM). So why is this good news for Canadians? Well, as you may or may not know, the unfortunate reality is that we (Canadians!) don’t get ABC Family. Thus ABC is our only hope for discovering the ’secrets’ of KYLE XY.

KYLE XY Finale Tonight

August 28th, 2006

Tonight is the season finale of KYLE XY. While I haven’t loved the series, I’ve pretty much seen every episode . Why have I subjected to myself to an dumbed down X-Files/John Doe/Lost all summer long? Pretty much because there were no other decent scripted dramas on TV (aside from Showtime’s BROTHERHOOD).

In tonight’s finale, Executive Producer Julie Plec (at the Kyle XY Comic Con Panel) has promised the answers to all of the mysterious questions that have been teased all season long. Namely, Who is Kyle XY? Where did he come from? and the most pressing issue of all, what’s the deal with no belly-button? All I know is that the show better not pull a ‘LOST’ and decide to answer nothing. For a preview of tonight’s episode check out the video below. (I would also be remiss to mention that I don’t actually get ABC FAMILY, so I’ll have to wait until Friday to watch the episode on regular TV! Damn you Canadian Cable Companies!).

Attn: KYLE XY Fans in CANADA

August 8th, 2006

Just thought I’d let fans of KYLE XY in Canada know that CITY TV has picked up the show! So instead of having to wait until ABC airs a re-run of the show on Fridays, you can now catch KYLE XY tonight at 8pm (EST) on all CITY TV channels across Canada.

UPDATE: For some reason, KYLE XY is not on at 8pm on CITY TV as my PVR suggested. In its place is the dreadful ABC comedy HOPE & FAITH. I’ll do some more investigation into this matter and get back to you all on what the deal is with this mix-up. Check back tomorrow for details.

KYLE XY gets renewed

August 4th, 2006

Fans of KYLE XY have reason to smile today. According to Variety, ABC Family has commited to a second season of the show. Looks like we’ll have 13 more episode to discover the truth about KYLE! Executive producer Julie Plec did promise fans at the San Diego Comic Con that unlike another fan favourite show on ABC (Lost), we’ll get some definitive answers! [See Story Here] Of course the big question remains, will one of those answers explain why KYLE has no bellybutton?

Comic Con Report: KYLE XY Panel

July 27th, 2006

It’s one of the hottest tickets at Comic Con 2006 as a room filled with screaming fans welcome an incredibly photogenic panel of actors who happen to star in a series steeped in mystery and mythology.

No, this isn’t the panel for the ABC’s LOST. Rather, it’s the surprise hit of the summer, ABC Family’s KYLE XY.

As adoring fans in the audience implore the show’s teen dream Matt Dallas (Kyle) to “Show us your belly button!” — and yes, for the record, he has one — the rising star looks as surprised as anyone to be the center of so much attention.

Eventually, the enthusiastic fangirls in the crowd go from sustained shrieking to subdued giggling as the question-and-answer period gets under session. Unlike a media-only event, Comic Con is a great equlizer, allowing fans to step into Katie Couric’s sensible shoes and ask the tough questions. And it quickly becomes evident that those in attendance aren’t afraid to ask the tough questions.

Veronica Mars & Lost at Comic Con

July 22nd, 2006

All I can say is that for a TV addict, days don’t get much cooler then this. This morning I sat in a room with 4,500 LOST fanatics, as they peppered questions at showrunners Damon Lindeloff, Carlton Cuse, Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and Daniel Dae Kim (Jin) for an hour and a half. My afternoon was spent in VERONICA MARS HEAVEN, as myself and Amrie got to sit down with Mars creative genius ROB THOMAS to discuss the upcoming season (yes, we know what season 3’s final mystery will be, no we can’t tell you!). As well as getting the fantastic opportunity to talk to Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan), Michael Muhney (Sheriff Lamb) and Ryan Hansen (Dick).

Stay tuned all this week (starting Monday) for my Comic Con reports on KYLE XY, LOST, HEROES, BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, VERONICA MARS and more! I’ve got interviews, photos, and even a few spoilers/casting nuggets. Eat your heart out Ausiello!

Kyle XY Review

July 2nd, 2006

Sure the initial premise is cool: good looking teen wakes up in the forest with no clothes and no recollection of who he is and how he got there. Yet because it’s an ABC Family show, that’s pretty much where the coolness factor ends. KYLE XY revolves around Kyle, a young man who may or may not be an alien (he has no belly button!). Within the first hour, Kyle is taken from a juvenile detention centre and adopted by a workaholic child psychologist, her supporting husband and meddlesome two kids. No doubt conflict, romance and hilarity will ensue as Kyle adjusts to his new life with his new family.

The premiere episode does a great job of laying the groundwork for the first season. It introduces us to our main characters, and hints at what could be an interesting X-Files-like mythology. We discover that Kyle is an off the charts genius. And more importantly, a love triangle between two girls is not-so-subtlety set up with Kyle. The show has potential as a fun summer series (as fankly, there isn’t much else on). But considering the fact it’s target audience is 10-15 year olds, the show will no doubt end up being a dumbed down version of the X-Files (with a bit of Degrassi mixed in). Sadly, this TV addict will continue watching to find out the truth about KYLE XY! (again, he HAS NO BELLY BUTTON!)
