Today’s BIG TV Addict Question: Will you be tuning into Amy Sherman-Palladino’s [GILMORE GIRLS creator] long awaited return to television when THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES premieres tonight on FOX at 8PM?
Because this TV Addict certainly will be.
Sure, the show has generated some negative buzz, thanks to Michael Ausiello reporting that Parker Posey didn’t exactly click with a full-time TV gig and Maureen Ryan remarking that, “Fast-paced, tart dialogue isn’t enough to sustain a show if the people reeling it off aren’t worth spending time with.” But GILMORE GIRLS entertained this TV Addict for seven years and a big part of that was as a direct result of Amy Sherman-Palladino’s creative brilliance.
How about a little loyalty people. What happened to “Where You Lead I will follow?” Am I the only TV Addict who takes TV theme songs literally anymore?

We at theTVaddict.com are so excited for Amy Sherman-Palladino’s unique voice to return to television that we’re completely ignoring all the behind-the-scenes rumors (will Michael Ausiello ever learn?) and the fact that FOX already trimmed down the show’s episode order.
Feel the same way? Why not check out these new promotional photos from THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES.

With today’s announcement by FOX that they’ve cut back their order of the new Amy Sherman-Palladino comedy THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES from 13 episodes to seven, this TV Addict must take a moment and ask the obvious question — why does FOX bother?
FOX has an unfortunate track record of putting together high concept shows [see DRIVE and WONDERFALLS] with actors we love [see Nathan Fillion] and brilliant creators [see Tim Minear, Bryan Fuller] only to cancel them right out of the gate.
Should FOX not do us all a favor and simply cancel THE RETURN OF JEZEBEL JAMES before we even have the opportunity to fall in love with it? Why not go ahead and replace it now with reruns of HOUSE or a fifth or sixth helping of AMERICAN IDOL. The last thing this TV Addict needs is to fall in love with another show, only have the race cut short or the reunion end early. Who’s with me!
| The Pitch: What if the GILMORE GIRLS were sisters?
WHO’S WHO: Indie mainstay Parker Posey makes a welcome return to the small screen (after numerous sitcom guest stints) alongside her new sister Lauren Ambrose (SIX FEET UNDER) and GILMORE GIRLS alum Scott Cohen.
WHAT IT’S ABOUT: When hardworking book editor Sarah (Parker Posey) learns she can’t have children, she decides to ask her estranged sister Coco (Lauren Ambrose) for one really big favour. A favour that carries a nine month commitment.
THE GOOD: In a word, okay three — Amy Sherman-Palladino. Her unique vision, trademark blink-and-you’ll-miss dialogue and unique sense of humor all make a long awaited return to television. GILMORE GIRLS fans will not be disappointed.
THE BAD: The laugh track. Memo to FOX, this isn’t ‘TIL DEATH. Amy Sherman-Palladino fans are smart enough to realize when something’s funny, there’s no need for awkward canned laughter to cue us. And while we’re not in love with the title (a little too long and wordy for our tastes) we can’t think of anything better. If we do, rest assured we’ll be sure to let you know.

| Please note: This is not a review, just a first impression. The pilot that was sent to theTVaddict.com is by no means final and many things can and will change between now and when the show actually premieres in September |
