In all seriousness though. We’re happy to see Isaiah Washington is getting a second chance to redeem himself. Everyone makes mistakes and last season’s GREY’S ANATOMY misstep shouldn’t automatically destroy the man’s career.
Here’s hoping he’s learned his lesson and more importantly that others learn from what he went through. Intolerance of any kind won’t to be tolerated — and if you’re ignorant enough to think it is — well, NBC’s going to send the BIONIC WOMAN to kick your butt.

Isaiah Washington is getting ready to go mano-a-mano with an up and coming television star. Unfortunately for TV fans everywhere, that star is not T.R. Knight.
According to USA TODAY, NBC is set to announce (at this morning’s TCA press tour) that Washington will guest-star on their most buzzed about new fall series BIONIC WOMAN. For at least five episodes, he’ll play an outsider with a mysterious agenda.

In an exclusive interview with EW.com, actor Isaiah Washington sounded off on what the future holds now that he won’t be returning to GREY’S ANATOMY.
EW: What type of offers have you received?
ISAIAH: I’ve gotten a ton of offers in both film and TV, and now my agent Ben Press and I are just sorting through all the options. There is one network in particular that’s very interested. But I don’t want to say anything specific until it’s a done deal.
Now I’m no network executive (clearly my TV tastes are far too smart to slum it), but how about this for the most brilliant move ever — Dr. Burke, looking for a change of scenery following his anti-gay slur wedding being called off should hop on the next flight and take a job at County General. Yes, you heard me. Signing Isaiah Washington would not only be the shot in the arm ER so desperately needs, it would completely re-ignite interest in NBC’s aging medical drama. Ben Silverman, you can thank me anytime.
Many in the media have urged GREY’S ANATOMY showrunner Shonda Rhimes to speak out with regards to the Isaiah Washington controversy (see Maureen Ryan’s column). Today, Rhimes finally released a statement regarding the situation:
“I speak for all the executive producers here at Grey’s Anatomy when I say that Isaiah Washington’s use of such a disturbing word was a shocking and dismaying event that insulted not only gays and lesbians everywhere but anyone who has ever struggled for respect in a world that is not always accepting of difference.
We’ve been working within the Grey’s family as well as with ABC and Touchstone Television to address the issue in a way that underscores the gravity of the situation while giving us all a foundation for healing. We applaud and encourage Isaiah’s realization that he needs help and his subsequent choice to seek immediate treatment for his behavioral issues.
We appreciate the support the fans have always given our show, particularly during this stressful time. Creatively, we continue to strive to make the best television we can with the hope that our show reflects the talent, hard work and professionalism of our cast and crew.”
Looks like Washington will be sticking around Seattle Grace for the time being.
