Good News, Bad News: EVERWOOD, ONE TREE HILL, HOUSE

September 16th, 2008

Good News: A representative from Warner Home Video finally confirmed that EVERWOOD Season 2 will finally see the light of day on DVD. Bad News: That light of day won’t arrive until sometime in 2009. [Source]*

Good News: According to the CW, last night’s ONE TREE HILL delivered its best numbers in nearly two years. Bad News: Can this show get anymore depressing? Another hour like that last nights and this TV Addict is this close to seeing if Nanny Carrie makes house calls.

Good News: HOUSE returns to TV tonight with a bang. Bad News: Cameron and Chase, not so much.

*Thanks to all the of my fellow EVERWOOD Addicts who emailed me about this story. Nice to see that while one of our favorite shows may be gone, it’s far from forgotten.

Good News, Bad News: 90210, HOUSE, 24, DR. HORRIBLE & More!

September 4th, 2008

Good News: 90210 netted the CW a record 4.9 million viewers, making it the highest rated debut for a scripted series that the CW has ever had. Bad News: To quote Zap2it.com’s Daniel Fienberg, “Just as an FYI: In its final season, staring cancellation in the face, “BEVERLY HILLS 90210″ averaged nearly 8.4 million viewers per week.” [Source]

Good News: Ted Danson’s career resurgence continues having just signed on to play Jason Schwartzman’s mentor in the HBO comedy pilot BORED TO DEATH Bad News: Possibly cutting short his critically acclaimed [read: awesome] turn as the duplicitous Arthur Frobisher on FX’s addictive legal thriller DAMAGES. [Source]

Good News: The oddly addictive soundtrack to Joss Whedon’s somewhat overhyped DR. HORRIBLE SING-A-LONG BLOG is now available on iTunes. Bad News: Someone’s going to have to explain to this TV Addict why the soundtrack costs $9.99 while the three act Dr. HORRIBLE series that costs over one hundred thousand dollars to produce only costs $4.99. 5 Things That Put a Smile on This TV Addict’s Face This Week

August 8th, 2008

house cast season five promo pic

1. NEW PROMO PHOTOS: While some may argue that this TV Addict needs to get outside more, I’m just going to go ahead and say it. New promo photos make me giddy! Not only do they signify that the Fall TV Season is just around the corner. But Hello!?!? Surely I’m not the only one who’s beginning to think that the fine looking doctors of Princenton-Plainsboro are starting to give the dysfunctional gang from Seattle Grace a run for their money.

2. AN EVERWOOD REUNION: Now admittedly, Michael Ausiello totally deserves to be tied to a chair and force fed season after season of ACCORDING TO JIM for his incredibly misleading title that immeditatly got me thinking, “Gregory Smith on BROTHERS & SISTERS!” But nonetheless, in accordance with my [FOR] EVERWOOD obsession, this TV Addict is stoked that showrunner Rina Mimoun has tapped the adorable Sarah Drew [Hannah] for what will hopefully turn into a recurring guest stint on the CW’s PRIVILEGED. And while on the subject of the CW’s other new drama. You know, the one that doesn’t feature that famous zip code. You heard it here first. PRIVILEGED is going to be the CW hit that nobody saw coming.

TheTVaddict.com Week in Rewind

May 4th, 2008

THE OFFICE
Not only was spending the full twenty-two minutes at Dunder Mifflin Scranton a welcome change of pace from the recent over-the-top zany antics of Michael Scott. It gave the Dunder Mifflin denizens a welcome opportunity to shine. Stanley’s tour-de-force performance aside, anyone else curious as to what Phyllis the delinquent teenage vandal immortalized in cement all those years ago? Because you just know she was a wild child!

HOUSE
Even with the new team and the return of Cutthroat Bitch, this TV Addict can’t seem to get excited for HOUSE anymore. Is it just me, or are we watching virtually the same show each and every week? Diagnose, Snarky Comment, Cure, Repeat.

THE BIG BANG THEORY
As a stare blankly at my ridiculously large collection of Entertainment Weekly magazines [quite literally, almost every one], this recovering eBay Addict couldn’t help but laugh sympathize with Leonard, Sheldon, Wolowitz and Raj’s Time Machine predicament.

SMALLVILLE
It should come as no surprise that television’s most frustratingly uneven series relied on the tired and clichéd “It’s a Wonderful Life” plot contrivance for their very special 150th episode. Talk about your super lack of creativity.

Take the Monday Night TV SAT Challenge

April 29th, 2008

In honor of last night’s SAT—themed installment of GOSSIP GIRL, this TV Addict thought he’d throw out a few questions of his own.

Question #2: Georgina is to GOSSIP GIRL as to Heather Locklear was to _________ ?

Question #3: Ted and Robin are to HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER as to J.D. and Elliot are to _________ ?

Question #4: Cameron is to HOUSE as to Jenna is to _________ ?

Bonus Question: To make THE BIG BANG THEORY’S Leonard feel better, the dumbest spur-of-the-moment purchase you ever made on eBay was _________ ?

You Be the Critic: It’s HOUSE 24/7 on FOX!

April 7th, 2008

Sitting on my couch, as I’m one to do on a Monday night, this TV Addict thought he’d ask the one question FOX executives probably don’t want to hear. When’s REUNION coming back? What’s more repetetive: FOX using HOUSE to fill holes in their schedule a minimum of three times a week, or the formulaic nature of HOUSE itself?

How LOST, HOUSE, ONE TREE HILL and REAPER Should End the Season

March 19th, 2008

Thanks to the recent WGA Strike, writers throughout Hollywood must now working feverishly to complete five or six new episodes by season’s end. With that in mind, this TV Addict thought he’d lend the proverbial hand and offer up some possible plot ideas for a handful of our favorite shows. You know, because there’s no such thing as a bad idea.

LOST
It’s time to face the facts. Claire must die. Not only can you count on one hand the amount of screen-time Emilie de Ravin has accumulated this season [two hands if you're counting last season]. You know it’s time to go when your non-speaking infant offspring [Baby Aaron] generates more passionate debate, online speculation and fan reaction than you do.

HOUSE
Is it not time to put an end to the age-old question: Which HOUSE ‘team’ is better? In other words, how long until the good doctor pits Cameron, Chase and Foreman against this season’s team of next generation newbies? One baffling medical mystery, two teams, one cutthroat bitch just for the fun of it. Paging May Sweeps!

HOUSE: Don’t Ever Change

February 6th, 2008

cutthroat bitch house

Knowing full well fans might not get another episode of HOUSE until September (or if we’re lucky May), the creative team behind HOUSE sure ended the season off on the right note. Not only did Cutthroat Bitch (Amber) make a surprising return (Full disclosure: I fell asleep during Sunday’s SuperBowl episode due to Nacho overload, so if she already made an appearance, my apologies), the brilliant Laura Silverman (THE SARAH SILVERMAN PROGRAM) was this week’s patient of the week. Add to that the McGill University shout-out on Amber’s sweatshirt (Canada Eh!) and the realization by Wilson that he may in fact be in love with House (or at the very least, have one serious man crush) this TV Addict has one thing to say. And since my writer’s are still on strike, I’ll simply quote last night’s episode title. HOUSE — Don’t ever change (and come back soon).

You Be the Critic: HOUSE, ONE TREE HILL and IN TREATMENT

January 30th, 2008

Since my head is still spinning from last night’s screening of CLOVERFIELD, this TV Addict has yet to catch last night’s installments of HOUSE, ONE TREE HILL and IN TREATMENT. So, aside from your general thoughts on the episodes, my questions today are three. First, is anyone dedicating thirty minutes a night to watching HBO’s IN TREATMENT? Second, were Jesse Spencer and Jennifer Morrison thrown a bone… err line or two on last night’s installment of HOUSE? And finally, please tell me K-Fed left Tree Hill for good.

Exclusive Interview: HOUSE Star Robert Sean Leonard

January 29th, 2008

robert sean leonard dr wilson house

In tonight’s brand new episode of HOUSE, America’s favorite doctor suspects that a mysteriously paralyzed woman (played by America’s favorite deputy assistant to the deputy chief of staff; THE WEST WING’s Janel Moloney) is withholding vital information about her condition.

And in the spirit of tonight’s belated Christmas themed episode, the TV Addict thought he’d publish his own belated interview with actor Robert Sean Leonard who plays House’s foil and quite possibly only friend Dr. Wilson.

With your two to three scenes per episode, would you say you’ve pretty much got the best job on television?
Robert Sean Leonard: I’ve got the best job in Hollywood.

Do you ever long for a more substantial role in the series? When it came to pilot season, I first read NUMB3RS and thought, “Well that’s way too much work.” HOUSE is great, because my character doesn’t work too much.

There’s immense pressure when you’re the face on the coin. Hugh [Laurie] is our show. His face is our show, he’s literally on every advertisement. I don’t think I’d enjoy being that guy. The job I have is great.
