Tonight’s TV Addictions: February 13, 2009

February 13th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES (8PM FOX, “A” in Canada)
This TV Addict’s “nerd-tastic” evening of Sci Fi goodness commences when fatal consequences result after Catherine Weaver becomes protective of John Henry. Fatal consequences?! We can’t wait!

DOLLHOUSE (9PM FOX. Global in Canada)
After gigabytes of valuable bandwidth wasted with endless rumors and speculation, the internets will finally get to see what they’ve been scrutinizing for the better part of a year now.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS (9PM FOX)
Jason’s gotta figure out a way to support Erin and his son. See, that’s one of the things that makes this show so great: The people feel real and — most of the time — face real problems. Unfortunately, folks still aren’t tuning in, as proven by the fact that last week, this show had viewer viewers than HOWIE DO IT. Heck, it had viewer viewers than FUEGO EN LA SANGRE on Univision. Seriously.

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (10PM Sci Fi, Space in Canada)
At long last, Ellen reunites with her people. Gee, wonder how that’s gonna go? Think she’ll be happy to find out about Saul and that trampy Six? I’m thinking “not!”

Ask the Addict: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA & HOUSE Spoilers, CHUCK 3D and More!

January 30th, 2009

Where the Frak have you been? Do you think you can just throw up an “Ask the Addict” anytime you damn well feel like it? I have needs you know! — TVLover28

The TV Addict: Look people, “Ask the Addict” is a two way street. One that only works when you actually take the time to you know, ASK THE ADDICT! Which is why we’re back. Because it turns out that more than a few of you have yet to discover google have some really great TV questions which I’m going to do my absolute best to help answer. Ready….

I’ve been pulling my hair out all week long trying to find a pair of 3D glasses in time for Monday’s 3D episode of CHUCK. Help me TV Addict, you’re my only hope. — DownWithFulcrum

The TV Addict:
The good news is that according to our sources, and by sources I of course am referring to NBC’s official CHUCK news page, 3D glasses can be picked up for free at any of the the following retail locations: Kroger, Ralph’s, Frys, Safeway/Vons, Supervalu, Food Lion, A & P, Pathmark, Coburns, Fresh Brands, Hy Vee, Nash Finch, Roundy’s, Winn Dixie, K-Mart, Dollar General, Hess (select stores), CVS (select geographies), Meijer (on 1/31) and Target (on 1/31). CHUCK’s big news page also claims that, “Should a display’s supply of glasses run out or if a retailer near you does not carry the glasses, consumers can call 1-800-646-2904 to obtain a pair for free.”

The bad news is that if you currently reside outside the United States you’re pretty much out of luck. Unless of course you can scrounge together a cheap pair of plastic sunglasses, a red and blue permanent marker (ie. Sharpie) and a flat piece of clear plastic (ie. a transparency sheet) which combined, can easily be MacGyver’d together to create your very own pair of 3D glasses. Assuming of course you can follow these ridiculously instructions (Click for Video)

[Update] After checking in with our good friends over at NBC publicity, we’ve been informed that our attempt to MacGyver together our very own pair of 3D glasses will not work! Furthermore, viewers must use the “Color Code” glasses as the footage has been processed so it works with the Color Code technology.” D’oh!

Good News, Bad News: NBC, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, BONES & UGLY BETTY

January 27th, 2009

Good News: Thanks to an exclusive deal with NBC, American Airlines passengers will now have the pleasure of watching Peacock favorites such as 30 ROCK, THE OFFICE and CHUCK at 30,000 feet. Bad News: Or, depending on your flight attendant’s mood, a MAMMA’S BOY marathon. [Source]

Good News: @brianstelter tweeted today that DirecTV is interested in a fourth season of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. Bad News: After Friday’s installment of the best show you’re not watching fell to fourth in its time slot, it remains to be seen just how interested NBC is. [Source]

Good News: After moving to Thursday and attracting nearly 10 million viewers, BONES may have finally gotten some long overdue respect. Bad News: Too bad it had to eviscerate UGLY BETTY in the process. [Source]

Week in Rewind: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, UGLY BETTY, LOST & More!

January 26th, 2009

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Delivers: Between the entire Panther football team rallying behind Smash, Buddy taking the opportunity to remind Tami that Scoreboard-Gate ‘09 isn’t going away anytime soon and Coach Taylor capping off the episode by dropping by the Williams’ household to let Smash and Momma Smash know that he’s got two weeks to prepare for his big tryout with Texas A&M, the only thing we can say about last week’s phenomenal installment of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is that should the show get a much deserved fourth season, NBC might wish to consider switching Dillon’s local hangout from an Applebee’s to a Chili’s. Because “Chills” is exactly what we get while watching one of the finest dramas television has to offer.

How I met a lovely ending: With apologies to Pam & Jim, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Love Actually inspired ending on Monday has officially cemented Lilly and Marshall as television’s most romantic couple.

Emotional Betty: When it comes to UGLY BETTY’s Marc and Amanda, laughing until we cry is nothing new. But following Thursday’s episode, where Marc finally stuck up for himself by calling Willamina out for becoming too distracted with Connor and Amanda showed genuine feelings of friendship and respect for Betty during their unfortunate apartment breakup, it might take us a little while to get used to straight up crying (sans laughter) from our two favorite Mode employees.

Good News, Bad News: HEROES, ABC, NBC & BATTLESTAR GALACTICA

January 16th, 2009

Good News: In a statement released on Thursday to the media, HEROES creator Tim Kring promised that the new volume of HEROES “starts us pretty much from scratch.” Adding that “there is almost nothing that the audience needs to know from the previous volume in order to follow the storyline.” Bad News: Kring’s statement sounds eerily similar to the message he delivered to Entertainment Weekly at the end of the strike shortened second season, where he apologized to fans and professed his desire to give the show “a clean slate.” [Source]

Good News: On the subject of the now-cancelled PUSHING DAISIES, ELI STONE and DIRTY SEXY MONEY, ABC president Stephen McPherson revealed that he “really loved the shows.” Bad News: Just not enough to give the respective showrunners enough time to craft proper series endings or to make room on the schedule to air their remaining episodes.
[Source]

Good News: NBC has given early season pickups to THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK and THE BIGGEST LOSER. Bad News: While the fates of LIFE, LIPSTICK JUNGLE, CHUCK and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS hang in the balance. [Source]

Good News: After far too long a hiatus, tonight marks the beginning of the end for BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Bad news: It’s the beginning of the END! What the Frak are we all going to do when the show is over?
