Got A Question for Emily VanCamp?

March 8th, 2007

theTVaddict is thrilled to be able to announce that I’m going to be talking to none other then BROTHERS & SISTERS newest leading lady Emily VanCamp tomorrow morning. If you have any questions for the girl that melted our hearts on EVERWOOD and is now set to stir things up for the Walker Family, please post away. I’ll be talking to Emily at 11:30am pacific (2:30pm eastern) tomorrow, so be sure to get in your questions before then.

UPDATE: My interview’s now been pushed to Monday at the same time, so if you thought you missed your chance to get in a question for Emily — it’s your lucky day!

We Declare Today Canada Day!

March 4th, 2007

theTVaddict.com is declaring today — a cold and dreary Sunday in March — CANADA DAY in the world of television. Now before you run to turn OFF your television in fear of a surprise Celine Dion guest appearance on EXTREME MAKEOVER: HOME EDITION, let me me take a moment to explain why we’ve declared today Canada Day Part Duex.

THE WINNER
FOX’s latest attempt to replicate their animated SIMPSONS success premieres tonight with the first two episodes of the Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY) produced half hour laugher called THE WINNER. THE WINNER, stars everybody’s (or at least our) favourite DAILY SHOW correspondent Rob Corrdry as Glen Abbott, a 32-year-old man-child still living at home with his parents in early 1990s Buffalo.
CANADIAN CONNECTION
THE WINNER has not one, but two Canadian connections. Glen Abbott’s life is based on the life of Native Montrealer Ricky Blitt. Who not only wrote the pilot, but conceded in a recent interview with the Toronto Star that the show is “very autobiographical.”

The show’s second Canadian connection belongs to young Keir Gilchrist. The local Torontonian, who at 14, must hold his own against funny-man Rob Corrdry. Gilchrist plays the teenage neighbor who Corrdry befriends in order to get closer to his mom, who coincidentally happens to be his childhood crush. “He’s like a 35-year-old and I’m like a 14-year-old,” says co-star Rob Corrddry of Gilchrist. “So we sort of meet in the middle”

BROTHERS & SISTERS
theTVaddict’s new favourite drama (alongside FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS) returns tonight after an Oscar hiatus. On tonight’s episode, entitled “The Other Walker”, the family discovers what the audience has known for quite a while — William and Holly had a child together named Rebecca.
CANADIAN CONNECTION
‘The Other’ that the episode’s title is referring to is none other then fellow Canadian (Port Perry native) and EVERWOOD alum Emily VanCamp. Emily plays Rebecca, who as you can see from this clip, made quite an impression on a shocked Tommy Walker at the end of BROTHERS & SISTERS last episode. We at theTVaddict.com cannot wait for sparks to fly tonight when the entire family discovers The Other Walker.’ And knowing the modus operandi of the Walker clan, we predict that the episode will end with one very memorable and akward tear-soaked family dinner. Seriously, can someone tell us why the Walker Family even bothers to sit down for dinner? It never ends well!

Emily VanCamp Talks BROTHERS & SISTERS

February 5th, 2007

Damn you Ausiello! Once again, the TV Scoop God snags a fantastic interview with Amy Ab.. er Emily VanCamp, who PLAYED Amy Abott on theTVaddict’s dearly departed favourite show EVERWOOD. Ausiello does a great job of covering all the basis with regards to Emily’s new role as Holly’s mysterious daughter on BROTHERS & SISTERS. But here’s Emily’s answer to whether she misses EVERWOOD? (umm, of course she does)

I do. It was such a tremendous experience. And I love everybody on that show so much. That was the hardest part — saying goodbye to all those people. We still see each other, but it’s not the same. We’re not all in the same place all the time. That part was really hard. And letting go of our characters that we’ve been playing for so long… you get really attached to those people that you’ve created, and suddenly they don’t exist anymore. It was very, very hard. But the response from all of our fans was incredible. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer way to leave. It’s not like we dwindled away and people got sick of the show. People really were left wanting more, and I think there’s a lot of value to that.

Emily also talks about her upcoming guest starring role on LAW & ORDER: SVU (Feb 13, NBC)

That was crazy. I played this girl who’s a bit of a drug addict, and [I’m led to believe] that I killed my mother. I was high the evening that it happened, so I had no recollection of the evening, and I convince myself that I did it. It’s really, really intense, and totally different from anything I’ve done before, so that was really fun.

For the entire interview, click here. And be sure to tune into the fall’s best new show, BROTHERS & SISTERS this Sunday at 10PM on ABC. Emily’s first episode is February 18.

EVERWOOD Star Joins BROTHERS & SISTERS

January 24th, 2007

Michael Ausiello is reporting today that Emily VanCamp (Amy Abott from EVERWOOD) has been cast as Holly Harper’s never-before-seen but much talked about daughter Rebecca on ABC’s BROTHERS & SISTERS. EVERWOOD fans rejoice! If you have yet to jump on the BROTHERS & SISTERS bandwagon, as of now you officially have no choice. Take it from someone who misses EVERWOOD so much that I often find myself traveling from town to town in search of a ferris wheel — BROTHERS & SISTERS is the next best thing to a fifth season of EVERWOOD. Be sure to tune in this week and check it out, 10PM ABC.

THE WEST WING Joins iTunes

January 16th, 2007

One of the TV Addict’s all time favourite dramas has been added to the ever growing lineup of television shows available on iTunes. The first and second seasons of THE WEST WING are now available for purchase. Click here to check it out.

The first two seasons of THE WEST WING were pure magic. From the moment we learned what POTUS was (President of the United States) as Sam realized he was in bed with a call girl — everything just clicked. The characters, the stories, it was the White House we wish (or at least I wished) we had.

The TV Addict’s personal favourite episode of the first two seasons is “Let Bartlet Be Bartlet.” The last few minutes alone, where Leo (the much loved John Spencer) tells President Bartlet (Martin Sheen) to start doing what he was elected to do, support the issues in which he truly believes — is well worth the $1.99 in itself.

And now for the obligatory rant: Warner Bros, I give you all the credit in the world for being pro-active when it comes to releasing the digital rights of your shows to iTunes. I’m thrilled to see VERONICA MARS, AQUAMAN et al in the iTunes store. My one problem — when are you going to get your act together and release seasons two through four of EVERWOOD on iTunes? If HERCULES and XENA can find a spot on iTunes, surely there’s room for one of television’s finest family dramas.

TV’s Top 10 Shows of 2006

December 29th, 2006

DEXTER An hour long drama about a serial killer. Does anybody actually want to see that? Luckily for Showtime [and fans of quality TV] a record number of people did — and for good reason. DEXTER featured an Emmy worthy performance by Michael C Hall (Dexter Morgan), compelling stories and most importantly (in the age of serialized ‘when are we going to get a resolution’ dramas) an actual ending. The show was the surprise hit of 2006 — and no, DEXTER isn’t number one on our list because we’re really quite scared of what he’ll do to us if he’s not happy.
A Favourite YouTube Moment — Dexter Confesses

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA No show on television dares to challenge its viewers as much as BATTLESTAR GALACTICA. Whether its showing us a different side of terrorism, or portraying its ‘human heroes’ as people willing to do some seriously awful things (yes, you heard us Starbuck) — the show’s writing team, led by the brilliant Ronald D Moore, never takes the easy way out. Let’s hope our heroes don’t find Earth too quickly, as this TV addict doesn’t wish to see BATTLESTAR end anytime soon.
A Favourite YouTube Moment — Second Season Finale

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Three words: Robing Sparkles and Swarley. Oh wait, there’s more…. Grinch, Suit Up, Steak Sauce, pretty much anything that comes out of Barney’s mouth. This year, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER truly came into its own, found its voice, and evolved into the FRIENDS replacement that we’ve so desperately needed. With a charming cast and razor sharp dialogue, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was officially the funniest, most talked about, three camera comedy on TV.
A Favourite YouTube Moment — Robin’s Secret

GREY’S ANATOMY What’s been lost amidst all the behind-the-scenes antics is that 2006 was by far the strongest year to date for the doctors of Seattle Grace. With water-cooler moments ranging from the fantastic Superbowl episode, to Denny’s death and more recently the deterioration of Dr. Burke and Cristina’s relationship, GREY’S ANATOMY is still our go-to drama for emotional high-stakes drama.
A Favourite YouTube Moment — Grey’s Anatomy The Fray

SCRUBS SCRUBS is that rare breed of show that simply does everything well. It tugs at the heart-strings as well as any medical drama while at the same time manages to be as funny as any episode of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. After six years, the show has developed such a rich stock of supporting characters [Ted the lawyer, the Todd, Security guard with a hook etc…) that it has essentially evolved into a live-action equivalent of THE SIMPSONS (but with more heart). If you’re still not on the bandwagon, do yourself a favour and check into Sacred Heart soon. Sadly, if the rumours are true, it may be the last season you’ll be able to.
A Favourite YouTube Moment — Dr. Cox Loses It

Vote for Chris Pratt!

October 27th, 2006

This TV Addict is incredibly excited for the season premiere of THE OC. Why you ask? Two words, Chris Pratt. Chris Pratt turned what could have been an incredibly ordinary ‘bully’ into one of television’s most enjoyable characters on EVERWOOD. Now’s THE OC’S mastermind, Josh Schwartz has hired Chris with the hopes that he’ll bring his own brand of Colorado magic to Newport Beach. Judging from his promotional video for student body president, both OC and EVERWOOD fans are in for a treat when THE OC returns this Thursday on FOX.

RUNAWAY Cancelled

October 18th, 2006

File this under news that will surprise nobody. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the CW has cancelled RUNAWAY. After four episodes, the show could only pull in an average of 1.9 million viewers. Rather then being known as the CW’s first original drama, RUNAWAY will forever be known as the show responsible for EVERWOOD’S demise.

This TV Addict’s next question, which CW exec is getting shown the door for that bone-headed decision.

First Look: Chris Pratt on THE OC

October 6th, 2006

chris pratt the oc

Returning Thursday November 2, THE OC will begin its fourth season with a familiar face. EVERWOOD’s Chris Pratt joins the cast as a love interest for Summer. After a dreadful third season, this TV Addict was ready to forget about Newport’s most troubled family, but as everybody who reads this site knows, cast an EVERWOOD alum, and you’ve earned yourself a new fan. Congratulations to the OC writers for finally having a ‘bright’ idea!

EVERWOOD Returns….

October 2nd, 2006

…to ABC FAMILY, starting tonight at 6PM (EST). Those of you lucky enough to get ABC FAMILY (living in the Great White North, this TV addict isn’t one of them) will be able to enjoy Greg Berlanti’s WB masterpiece from the beginning starting tonight. If you missed the EVERWOOD bandwagon, I can’t recommend this show highly enough. It had everything great Television should; phenomenal characters, rich dialogue and stories that weren’t afraid to both challenge and surprise its audience. In EVERWOOD (unlike say 7th HEAVEN), there weren’t always easy answers, and both parents and kids were capable of making mistakes. Problems weren’t always solved in an hour, but family and friends were always there for eachother. It was a phenomenal show that still deserves to be on the air (and yes, I’m still bitter).
