Morning Static: Jon, Fred Armisen & Shenae Grimes

September 1st, 2009

Welcome to our morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen.

On Friday, Jon Gosselin sat down with GOOD MORNING AMERICA’s Chris Cuomo to complain that the media and the tabloids are exploiting his children for financial gain. Apparently, if anyone is going to exploit his children for financial gain it’s going to be him and Kate. After-all, they were totally there first. [E! Online]

Good News: In an effort to inject some more laughs into the fledging sophomore comedy, a SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE cast member will be dropping by Amy Poeher’s PARKS AND RECREATION this fall. Bad News: Said cast member is its weakest link, the highly unfunny Fred Armisen. [EW]

What’s On TV: August 30, 2009

August 30th, 2009

THE 36th ANNUAL DAYTIME EMMY AWARDS (8PM CW)
Because Neil Patrick Harris can’t do it all, UGLY BETTY’s Vanessa Williams hosts the annual gala saluting soaps, daytime talk and children’s programs. Blerg.

YOUR KID ATE WHAT? (9PM TLC)
Following in the footsteps of Jon and Kate’s eight — who will no doubt rack up some serious therapy bills when they’re old enough to realize what their parents put them through comes tonight’s victims kids — whose public humiliation medical operation is chronicled after swallowing some questionable items. Items include: a leaking battery, rat-poison pellets, magnets and toy cars.

ENTOURAGE (10:30PM HBO, HBO Canada)
Vince’s downward spiral into utter uselessness continues with tonight’s story that has him messing around with his compound’s security. Tune in next week when Vince tries his hand at refrigerator repair.

Random Musings: ENTOURAGE Edition

July 13th, 2009

entourage_cast

While critics and fans alike have pretty much declared the gang from ENTOURAGE — as Bruno might put it — so 2007. This TV Addict — understanding full well that nothing ever really happens on the show— remains unapologetically head-over-heels in love with Vinnie, ‘E,’ Turtle and Drama. Seriously, nothing gets us ready for a busy work week than an endless barrage of insults from one Ari Gold on Sunday nights at 10:30PM.

That said, last night’s less that stellar season opener did leave us scratching our head for a multitude of reasons. Not the least of which is why on earth the show — which is known for its fairly realistic portrayal of the inner-workings of Hollywood — would allow for an episode to air with such outdated references to a now ‘TONIGHT SHOW-less’ Jay Leno and a MY NAME IS EARL-free Greg Garcia (whose series was unceremoniously dumped by NBC this past May).

Good News, Bad News: NBC, TERMINATOR, GOSSIP GIRL & ENTOURAGE

September 9th, 2008

Good News: The NBC Universal family which includes NBC, SciFi, USA and Bravo have come to their senses and put their content back on the Apple’s iTunes Store. Bad News: For my wallet. [Source]

Good News: TERMINATOR THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES launched their second season last night with a phenomenal action-packed episode. Bad News: Which most of America missed because they were too busy watching DEAL OR NO DEAL. I mean seriously America. Are you trying to kill the medium that this TV Addict loves so dearly. What’s the deal? [Source]

Good News: According to Newsweek, the TV Addict is not the only guy who watches GOSSIP GIRL. Bad News: Still no confirmation as to whether I’m the only guy excited for PRIVILEGED. [Source]

For Your Consideration: Johnny Drama

May 30th, 2007

With all the free publicity ENTOURAGE has been giving Variety this season, I certainly hope the show got a good deal on this full page ad they took out with the hopes of snagging Johnny Chase a Best Actor Emmy Nod for his work in the fictional NBC show FIVE TOWNS.

We Preview Tonight’s ENTOURAGE

April 8th, 2007

What may have been lost in all THE SOPRANOS ‘Final Episodes’ hype is the fact that tonight marks the return of one of theTVaddict’s favourite dramas — Johnny Drama.

Yes my friends, Matt Dillon’s less famous — yet equally hilarious brother — Kevin Dillon (Johnny Drama) returns tonight with all new episodes of ENTOURAGE.

Those hoping Vinnie and Ari would have simply ‘hugged it out’ following last fall’s season finale are in for a bit of a shock [for a refresher of Ari being fired last season, see clip above]. Tonight’s premiere revolves around Vinnie’s birthday bash and the introduction of his new agent Amanda (deliciously played by Carla Cugino). I guess what they say about Hollywood is true. Never forget the number one rule — it’s not show-friends, it’s show-business.

ENTOURAGE returns tonight at 10PM on HBO and TMN in Canada.

ENTOURAGE Set to Return with a New Member

March 20th, 2007

When we last left our favourite entourage, Vince had just fired his agent Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven) after Ari failed to secure Vince’s dream project — the Joey Ramone biopic. When ENTOURAGE returns on Sunday April 8, expect the unexpected. More specifically, the addition of a new female cast member to Vince’s possé. Carla Cugino (THRESHOLD) joins the cast as Vince’s new agent and proverbial thorn in Ari’s side. Any bets on to how many seconds it takes Drama to hit on her?

ENTOURAGE: Sorry Ari…

entourage ari lloyd quotes

With all the EMMY HOOPLA I haven’t had time to discuss my favourite summer series, ENTOURAGE (Why HBO would air the finale up against the EMMYS I’ll never understand). Sunday’s finale was pretty much the ‘Ari Show’, as Hollywood’s favourite agent desperately tried to save his job. Vince and Eric were not pleased that the ‘Ramones Project’ fell threw, and Ari attempts everything short of whoring out Lloyd to get it back – and save his job. In fact the Ari/Lloyd Banter was definitely the highlight of the episode (see favourite quotes above).

So did Ari end up getting fired? I won’t ruin it for you here (in case you missed it), but you’ll have to wait until the Spring to find out. While ENTOURAGE’S third season is twenty episodes, the second ten will air with the final SOPRANOS episodes in Spring 2007.
