Kristen Bell to Narrate GOSSIP GIRL

May 16th, 2007

With reports of The CW canceling VERONICA MARS, fans of Neptune’s most loveable PI can take heart in this piece of exclusive news from Entertainment Weekly:

CW’s buzzed-about new drama GOSSIP GIRL, based on the best-selling teen book series, will feature voiceover narration by none other than… Kristen Bell as Gossip Girl herself. No word until Thursday morning on where Girl will land on the schedule.

For all the latest news from tomorrows CW and FOX UpFronts, be sure to tune into theTVaddict.com. I’ll be there live — stalking the stars reporting live from the scene.

CW UpFront Rumours: VERONICA MARS Cancelled

May 16th, 2007

Draining even more suspense from tomorrow’s CW UpFront presentation (as this TV Addict ponders why he even bothered to show up in New York — oh wait, to paraphrase Barney, NYC is awesome!) — Variety is reporting that the CW has officially greenlit three new dramas, and gave Veronica Mars her walking papers.

Renewed series include SMALLVILLE, SUPERNATURAL and ONE TREE HILL as well as the hilarious and underappreciated CW laugher EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS.

Not so lucky is VERONICA MARS. While nothing’s official, sources close to the show say ‘Mars” is indeed coming to an end.

On the new drama front, THE OC’s Josh Schwartz is headed back to TV (and not a moment too soon, I’m still in OC withdrawl) with GOSSIP GIRL along with two new dramas REAPER and WILD AT HEART.

And finally, just in case you were worried, 7th HEAVEN remains cancelled with absolutely no hope for another last-minute miraculous renewal. When reached for comment, even the ‘big guy upstairs’ had to concede, “It’s about time” adding quickly, “I miss EVERWOOD.” We at theTVaddict.com couldn’t have said it better ourselves.

Amrie’s Take on TV: UpFront Preview (Part 2)

May 15th, 2007

So, NBC threw out some shockers (at least FNL wasn’t cancelled. Sure, Friday at 10 is almost the kiss of death, but it’s fabulous, so yay!). With ABC set to change up their schedule and send some surprises our way, let’s see what’s coming for CBS, The CW, and FOX in the coming days!

CBS:

What do we not need to worry about?
Big Brother, Survivor – CBS isn’t big on the early renewals.

What shows are looking good for renewal, but haven’t gotten there yet?
48 Hours, 60 Minutes, Cold Case, Criminal Minds, CSI, CSI: Miami, CSI: NY, Ghost Whisperer, NCIS (especially now that Bellisario stepped down), Numb3rs, Rules of Engagement (who would have thought?), Shark, Two and a Half Men (really?), Without a Trace

What shows are riding that bubble?
The Amazing Race (not so much because ratings are down, but because they might not have a spot for it on the schedule right away), The Class (I would be sad to see it go…it got better at the end), How I Met Your Mother (seriously? I can’t imagine this being gone already), Jericho (I’ll be super upset if this is gone!!!), The New Adventures of Old Christine (I’m thinking it’s between HIMYM and Christine for the comedy spot…hopefully HIMYM stays), The Unit (no bad buzz here, but it’s probably the least “on the radar” procedural.

What should we prepare to say goodbye to, officially?
Armed and Famous, Close to Home (they never should have killed off Christian Kane’s character), Gameshow Marathon, Rock Star (if you hear nothing about it, chances are they aren’t working on it)

What shows did they already can?
3 Lbs (which is a shame, because I like Stanley Tucci), The Kind of Queens, Smith, Waterfront (I gotta be honest, I don’t remember this show even starting….)

What is still to come?
Creature Comforts and Pirate Master look to be interesting shows – we’ll see how they do.

Bottom line?
CBS has too many hits to know what to do with. To even consider getting rid of HIMYM or Jericho, it’s pure insanity. The latest talks point to neither of them getting the boot, but the fact that they aren’t incredibly safe just shows that CBS is doing really well and almost doesn’t know where to go from here.

HIDDEN PALMS To Premiere May 30

April 3rd, 2007

The CW has finally revealed the premiere date for its much delayed hour long sudser HIDDEN PALMS. In a press release sent to theTVaddict.com, CW President Dawn Ostroff, announced that HIDDEN PALMS will debut on Wednesday, May 30 (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET).

Multi-generational HIDDEN PALMS focuses on Johnny Miller (Taylor Handley, “The O.C.”), a teen who is struggling to come to terms with two tragedies in the strange and artificial atmosphere of Palm Springs. In addition to Handley, HIDDEN PALMS features a star-studded ensemble cast including “NYPD Blue” veterans Gail O’Grady and Sharon Lawrence, D.W. Moffett (”Traffic”), and fresh faces such as Amber Heard (”Alpha Dog”), Michael Cassidy (”The O.C.”), Ellary Porterfield (”The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio”) and Tessa Thompson (”Veronica Mars”).

Even more interesting is the fact that the new series will serve as the lead-in for this season’s final three original episodes of ONE TREE HILL including that show’s season finale on Wednesday, June 13. OTH fans take note — it’s never a good sign when your show has been pushed off the pivotal May Sweeps schedule (see EVERWOOD last year). May I humbly suggest kicking your fan campaign into high gear… NOW.

RUNAWAY Cancelled

October 18th, 2006

File this under news that will surprise nobody. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that the CW has cancelled RUNAWAY. After four episodes, the show could only pull in an average of 1.9 million viewers. Rather then being known as the CW’s first original drama, RUNAWAY will forever be known as the show responsible for EVERWOOD’S demise.

This TV Addict’s next question, which CW exec is getting shown the door for that bone-headed decision.

CW Switches Up Schedule

October 5th, 2006

Apparently, things aren’t as rosy as CW’s incessant press releases would have us believe. Due to a disappointing start, the CW network has decided to swap their Sunday and Monday night line-ups. The Curse of the EVERWOOD cancellation has struck again (and yes, there is a curse). Here are the details from the official CW Press Release:

October 5, 2006 (Burbank, CA) - The CW is switching its Sunday and Monday nights of programming, effective October 9.

On October 9, The CW’s comedy block of “Everybody Hates Chris,” “All of Us,” “Girlfriends” and new series “The Game” will move to Monday from 8:00-10:00PM. The CW will rebroadcast each comedy’s season premiere on Monday, October 9, with original episodes returning on Monday, October 16.

Starting October 15, The CW’s new Sunday line-up will begin with an encore of the previous Wednesday’s “America’s Next Top Model” (7:00-8:00PM) followed by original episodes of “7th Heaven” (8:00-9:00PM) and freshman drama “Runaway” (9:00-10:00PM).

The CW Launch Party

September 19th, 2006

Last night was the official CW LAUNCH PARTY on the WB main lot in Burbank California. Sadly, it seems my invitation was lost in the mail, but check out some great photos.
