TCA 2008: CBS President Nina Tassler Talks MOONLIGHT’s Cancellation and CSI’s Grissom Replacement

July 18th, 2008

By: Kevin Kelly, Special TCA Correspondent

Minutes ago, CBS Entertainment President Nina Tassler filled us in — and by ‘us’ I mean the hundred or so journalists attending the 2008 Television Critics Association Press Tour — with regards to what fans can expect from the character replacing William Peterson’s Gil Grissom on CSI this upcoming season. According to Tassler, Grissom’s replacement will be a doctor, who not only is a bit of an outsider and must work his way onto the team, but has somewhat of a complex dual identity. One that DEXTER fans might be intimately [or is it eerily] familiar with.

In other news, Tassler pretty much put a final stake into MOONLIGHT’s chances for survival by revealing that she stands by her decision to cancel this season’s JERICHO. Said Tassler, “We love Alex and the rest of the cast, but we’re okay to let the show go.” Adding that most of the comments she received from viewers were aimed at the actors and not the show itself.

Which naturally got us thinking. If Alex O’Loughlin is currently unemployed and the gang from CSI are on the look out for a dark and mysterious investigator. It doesn’t take THE BIG BANG THEORY’s Sheldon and/or Leonard to connect the dots here! Match made in television heaven? You be the judge.

Exclusive Interview: CSI MIAMI Star Eva La Rue

May 4th, 2008

Eva La Rue
By: Amrie Cunningham [My Take on TV]

I recently had the time to talk with CSI: Miami’s Natalia Boa Vista, aka Eva La Rue, about what’s coming up for the last few episodes of this season, what TV show makes her cry week after week, and her new place as a member of my favorite band!

Just want to start by saying that I started watching CSI: MIAMI because you joined the cast. I was such a fan of you on ALL MY CHILDREN.
Oh thank you! That’s great! As much as I miss all my friends from ALL MY CHILDREN, and I do, I call over there and catch up with everyone over there all the time. This job is so much easier than ALL MY CHILDREN.

I read somewhere that on AMC you spent a day shooting one hour of TV, and now you get a full week to shoot the hour.
We would have sometimes 50 pages a day on the soap. 50 pages a day would be a normal day on he soap so by the time you get home, you start studying again for the next day. You‘re so brain-dead that by the end of the week you can barely remember your own name. While you’re doing it you don’t realize how hard it is because it’s your day to day routine, but once you’ve stopped doing it, you think to yourself, how did I ever do this for as many years as I did? Oh my god, the amount of constant pressure and stress that you feel is mind numbing. It really is tough. It’s also really rewarding. It’s like a big family over there at the soap.

GREY’S beats CSI in Round 1

September 22nd, 2006

The biggest battle of the new season wasn’t the impending duel between McDreamy and McVet for Meredith’s love — It’s which show would win the the ratings war between GREY’S ANATOMY & CSI. And the winner of round one is…..

GREY’S ANATOMY. ABC’s hit medical sudser garnered 25.14 million eyeballs versus 22.04 million viewers for CSI. CBS still managed to be the most-watched network (770,000 viewers ahead of ABC), while ABC finished first in the overnights and adults 18-49. A night of season premieres on NBC settled for the distant No. 3 spot, while Fox’s perennial Thursday audience woes continued. The CW hid under the desk with repeats.

This is the first time a non-season finale of any series has beat an episode of CSI since April 1, 2004 (and that show was the season-finale of then must see The Apprentice).

Thanks to Seriously? OMG! WTF? for the tip.
