WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
SCRUBS (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Wedding bells are ringing for The Janitor and Lady. Expect this to be one of the quirkier weddings of the season…

BETTER OFF TED (8:30PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
If you’re a fan of this off-beat comedy, tune in while you can. Rumors are circulating that Ted will soon be dead (read: not better off) This week, Linda winds up accidentally ingesting an experimental drug that gives her a whole lotta energy… and comes with a few unexpected side effects.

AMERICAN IDOL (9PM FOX, CTV in Canada)
Can’t we just name Adam the winner and call it a day?

LOST (9PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
Ben is kidnapped from the Dharma village’s infirmary, which seems to indicate that the hostiles have paid the townies a visit. Frankly, I’m just glad that we’ve stopped hop-scotching through time, at least for the moment.

Where’s the Love for BONES?

March 25th, 2009

david boreanaz

Is David Boreanaz the new Rodney Dangerfield? That’s the question this TV Addict finds himself asking after yesterday’s TV Week headline announcing that “Fox Orders Six Scripts for BONES for 2009-10 Season.” I mean come’on FOX, six scripts? Get serious!

Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 19, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
It’s a good news/bad news situation for Betty tonight. On the plus side, she finally gets a makeover from her co-workers. But seeing as the folks who give her that makeover are Mark and Amanda, we can’t help but worry. Speaking of makeovers, Daniel and Wilhelmina decide to give Mode one as well in an effort to boost circulation.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, GlobalTV in Canada)
Ugh. A Michael-centric office. here’s hoping the new vice-president who comes on board tonight can balance that out, because this show is in serious danger of having its lead character drag the whole thing down.

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
Is it just me, or are Christina, Bailey and Mark pretty much the only characters on this show who aren’t annoying? I suppose we could throw George into the mix, too, if only because he’s not on screen enough to actually annoy us. Anyway, tonight, Izzie tries to keep her disease under wraps, Christina finally gets a solo surgery and Mark tries to do a face transplant.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
Castiel and Uriel have been kinda nasty to Sam and Dean in the past, but you know how angels are: The minute they need a favor, they come knockin’ on bended wing. Which is what happens when someone begins killing angels with Lucifer’s sword. Of course, the real question is this: Who was stupid enough to give the devil a sword in the first place?

30 ROCK (9:30PM CW, CityTV in Canada)
Liz finds out that pretty people — like her boyfriend — get special treatment. Meanwhile, Jenna’s latest bid for attention from the public could result in the worst hair day ever.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM ABC, “A” in Canada)
Addison has to repress her feelings for someone who’s not as single as she’d like. Unfortunately, Addison has never really been all that great at repressing anything…

Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 12, 2009

March 12th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, City in Canada)
Wilhelmina headed for the poor house? Who wouldn’t tune in to see that! As an added bonus, Christine Baranski guests as Matt’s mom, and Hilda goes on a date with Ralph Macchio. It’s almost TOO much goodness!

SMALLVILLE (8PM CW)
Remember when Tori Spelling was nice-girl Donna? Well not any more! As reporter Linda Lake, she’s blackmailing Clark in an attempt to regain her journalistic mojo. “Frak that!” says Clark, who instead outs himself to Lois!

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
After finally realizing that a whole hell of a lot of his patients wind up biting the dust, Derek decides to quit. Frankly, that makes sense to us. I mean, once they stop calling you McDreamy and start calling you Doctor Death, it’s all over but the singing.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Michael’s latest scheme involves placing “Golden Tickets” — ala Willy Wonka — inside paper packages. Anyone else suspect this won’t end well? Meanwhile, Kevin’s out to woo a woman, so his co-workers offer him some advice. Um… anyone else suspect this won’t end well, either?

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
Baby, don’t fear the reaper. Especially now that all the reapers have gone missing, allowing people to literally cheat death! Sam and Dean journey to the netherworld (insert spooky sounds here) to find out what the heck’s going on.

30 ROCK (9:30PM NBC, City in Canada)
Liz has jury duty, which means the staff of TGS has no babysitter. Wacky chaos ensues.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM ABC)
Pete and Sheldon want Violet to take a paternity test. And who can blame them? Meanwhile, Sam commits the ultimate boyfriend sin when he calls his current girlfriend by his ex-wife’s name… while in bed. Yeah, that’s bad.

ER (10PM ABC, E! in Canada)
Thanks to a cavalcade of original series stars including Eriq La Salle, Julianne Marguilies and he-who-shall-not-be-named returning to Country General tonight, we officially give-in! Seriously NBC, you win. We’re back on the ER bandwagon.

Tonight’s TV Addictions: February 5, 2009

February 5th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
UGLY BETTY (8PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
Daniel’s got something to hide, and Betty is caught up in family matters. In other words, just another day in her world. On the plus side, that cute neighbor of Betty’s seems to be taking a renewed interested in her, so maybe things are looking up.

THE OFFICE (9PM NBC, Global in Canada)
Ugh. Michael goes on yet another road trip. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Pam is along for the ride this time instead of Dwight. But I’m not 100% convinced even she can make Michael more palatable at this point.

SUPERNATURAL (9PM CW)
A sexy siren (is there any other kind?) lures three men to their doom. And when the Winchester boys investigate, it’s brother-vs-brother thanks to the evil temptress!

GREY’S ANATOMY (9PM ABC, CTV in Canada)
Having apparently not learned a thing from every other doctor or intern at Seattle Grace, Lexie demands that she and Mark make their relationship public. Meanwhile, having not learned a thing from his girlfriend’s nearly psychotic narcissistic whining, Derek tries figuring out just the right way to propose. (Dude, trust us: No matter what you do, she’ll kevetch about it later.)

30 ROCK (9:30PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
Can the unlucky-in-love Liz Lemon finally get her act together and impress her sexy new neighbor (special guest Jon Hamm)? Yeah, wouldn’t bet on it.

PRIVATE PRACTICE (10PM NBC, “A” in Canada)
Crossover alert! When Addison’s brother has a seizure, she calls in ex-hubby Derek (of GREY’S ANATOMY) for a consult. Translation: This show is in trouble, and they need to lure in viewers any way they can. Ha! You can’t fool us, sly ABC executives!

Good News: Thanks to an exclusive deal with NBC, American Airlines passengers will now have the pleasure of watching Peacock favorites such as 30 ROCK, THE OFFICE and CHUCK at 30,000 feet. Bad News: Or, depending on your flight attendant’s mood, a MAMMA’S BOY marathon. [Source]

Good News: After moving to Thursday and attracting nearly 10 million viewers, BONES may have finally gotten some long overdue respect. Bad News: Too bad it had to eviscerate UGLY BETTY in the process. [Source]

Exclusive BONES Scoop: It’s all Relative

December 3rd, 2008

brendan fehr

In lieu of a brand new episode of BONES tonight (or as theTVaddict.com reader “tb” points out, any new episode of BONES since the show is on hiatus until January 15th) , how does some scoop sound?

For BONES fans out there who hoped they had seen the last of Booth’s borderline alcoholic brother Jared, this TV Addict has some bad news for you.

Brendan Fehr, who we had the opportunity to interview at Friday’s 2008 Gemini Awards (Canada’s Emmy equivalent) assures us that Jared will be back to wreck havoc on television’s favorite sometimes platonic investigative duo.

Will you be making a return appearance on BONES:
Brendan Fehr: I’ve actually already shot a second episode and I’ve been informed that they [they, being the BONES writers] have tentative plans to have me come back.

Can you spill anything on the story-line:
Brendan Fehr: I don’t know what the story-line will be for the character. But I do know they want to flesh out my character. And given the opportunity, I’d love to come back.

Translation: Booth and Brennan shippers may not want to get too excited about the scoop in today’s Ausiello Files. We’re just sayin’

Exclusive Interview: BONES Star John Francis Daley

October 8th, 2008

john francis daley

Before we talk BONES, let me start of by saying that FREAKS & GEEKS and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL are two of my all-time favorites shows. How hard was it to watch them go to the brilliant-but-canceled graveyard?
John Francis Daley:
It was hard, in fact it’s really frustrating. It shows that quality isn’t enough. But at the same time, you do get used to it and you sort of realize that it’s incredibly difficult for the stars to align and for there to be a really good show that does really well. I’d rather be on a really good show that I can be proud of that is appreciated by so many people than one that does really well.

How different is it as an actor to join an already established show versus starting on a show from day one?
It’s pretty different but at the same time everyone on BONES was so welcoming that it wasn’t that hard. I’ve been on sets where it’s not so fun [but don't worry, it's not one of the shows that you love].

Thank God! I can’t imagine anyone involved with FREAKS & GEEKS and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL being difficult to work with. Of course now I’m mentally scanning through your imdb profile [THE GEENA DAVIS SHOW, BOSTON PUBLIC, REGULAR JOE, STACKED, JUDGING AMY] and wondering whom you’re referring to!
Some of the shows I’ve worked on have not been fun to be on. The vibe that you feel matters so much as to whether or not I like what I do for a living. If I’m working on a show where there is constant fighting and the crew doesn’t get along, it’s not fun because you’re constantly having to work past that hurdle.

Exclusive Interview: BONES Star Michaela Conlin

September 3rd, 2008

Michaela Conlin
The TV Addict with BONES Star Michaela Conlin in Los Angeles, August 2008

Full disclosure. Prior to last season, I had never watched a single episode of BONES and quite frankly, callously dismissed it as yet another oversimplified procedural [ie. CSI].

Yet after having the pleasure of interviewing TJ Thyne, Emily Deschanel, Eric Millegan and Michaela Conlin last Fall and absolutely falling head-over-heels in love with what by all accounts seems to be the nicest cast in Hollywood, I quickly changed my tune and jumped on the BONES bandwagon.

Since then, I’ve been hooked. Because as any BONES fan will tell you. The show is so much more than your average who-done-it! Rather, it’s about the relationships between the characters. Which is why fans are still reeling from last May’s shocking finale. And more to the point, why I started off my interview with BONES star Michaela Conlin by asking the following.

How shocked were you by the outcome of last season’s finale?
Michaela Conlin: It was a big shocker wasn’t it.

I mean “WOW,” I did not see that coming. When did you discover that Zack was Gormogon’s Apprentice?
Maybe a week before we got the script. I mean we started hearing rumors, but really it was confirmed when we got the script. Eric had been with the show from the beginning so it definitely was a shock for everyone. But I think he’ll be back for a couple of episodes. At least that’s what I’m hearing.

And by ‘hearing,’ would it be safe to assume that it’s actually going to happen and Zack will be back!
Okay, Yes [she smiles] Zach will definitely be back.

As a fan I feel so bad for an actor when it’s revealed that they’re actually a somewhat psychotic killer [or killer's apprentice] and forced to exit the show.
It is sad, but Eric is doing fine.
