Good News: ABC announced today that UGLY BETTY is coming back April 30, a week earlier than planned. Bad News: For fans of the underperforming comedy duo of SAMANTHA WHO? and INTO THE MOTHERHOOD, who if we had to guess, will see their remaining episodes burned off sometime in July. [Source]

Good News: FOX has finally done the right thing and apologized for canceling ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. Bad News: Their mea culpa comes in the form of a not so subtle advertisement for the new Mitch Hurwitz animated laugher SIT DOWN SHUT UP. Which, we’re just gonna say… is no ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. [Video Link]

Good News: Actress Monica Potter is joining Peter Krause, Maura Tierney, Erika Christensen and Dax Shepard in the small screen re-boot of PARENTHOOD. Bad News: Bumping Diane Farr, who had scheduling conflicts thanks to her recurring role on the hit Showtime series CALIFORNICATION. [Source]

Good News: WILL & GRACE star Debra Messing is reuniting with the the creative forces behind THE STARTER WIFE for a new NBC comedy that will have the actress adjusting to a new role as full-time wife and mother when she is laid off from her high powered CEO job. Bad News: Not to be confused with Kelsey Grammer’s new pilot that has him playing a corporate tycoon whose is forced to reconnect with his family after his job is downsized. Ouch! [Source]

Because we know you’d never surf the web on ‘company time,’ theTVaddict.com is proud to present what will hopefully become a new daily feature: Our brief roundup of interesting, bizarre, surprising and funny TV news to help you get you through the day (or at the very least, your lunch hour.)

LISTEN: In what we guarantee will be the funniest forty-seven minutes of your day, ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT creator Mitchell Hurwitz and Will Arnett drop by Tim Goodman’s TV Talk Machine to talk about their new animated series SIT DOWN, SHUT UP (premiering on FOX this April), the current status of the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie and Will Arnett’s top-secret new series secretly being developed for Hurwitz for FOX. [Click here to listen]

PLAY: Combining two of this TV Addict’s favorite things, toucharcade.com offers up a first look at the upcoming DEXTER game for the iPhone. [Source]

LEARN: Did you know that according to just-released Live+7 DVR data, FOX’s action packed one-two combo of DOLLHOUSE and TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES increased viewers by 30% and 36% respectively? [Source]

LAUGH: And theTVaddict.com’s award for favorite one-liner from the flurry of reviews lambasting Jimmy Fallon’s shaky LATE NIGHT start last night goes to EW.com’s Ken Tucker who said,” He did an ultra-ordinary monologue — one liners about President Obama and the deficit that sounded like material Jay Leno’s writers had faxed over from L.A.” Ouch! [Source]

WATCH: Jon Stewart lambast TV news for finally discovering Twitter. Or as we put it, welcome to 2007. [Click here for video]

Hey TV Addict, lately you’ve been on a serious roll when it comes to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA spoilers, what have you got for us tonight? — LiveStrongAnders
The TV Addict: Unfortunately, I’ve got some bad news for you that you may or may not want to hear. Tonight’s installment offers up another slow, meandering and quite frankly disappointing tale that only pays off in the exciting final act. But on the plus side, fans of both Katee Sackhoff and Grace Park in particular will be very pleased with the amount of screen-time both actresses receive.

I’m sick and tired of another episode of HOUSE that was practically Cameron and Chase free. Please tell me you’ve got some good news? — FreeCameron
The TV Addict: I do not. Because as I learned after daring to defy the most powerful man in television scoopery earlier in the week, HOUSE scoop is the sole domain of one Michael Ausiello. That said, I do in fact have some interesting HOUSE news (just so we’re clear, it’s news not scoop) that will put a smile on the face of any and all ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT fans. On the March 16th episode of HOUSE cleverly titled “Here’s Kitty,” the always hilarious Judy Greer drops by to play a nursing-home worker who fakes sick to get House’s attention after the home’s pet cat singles her out as being on death’s door by sleeping next to her. Hilarious right? Okay not so much. But as long as the episode’s writers manage to sneak in Kitty’s trademark “Say Goodbye to These!” you won’t here me complaining.

Loved last week’s episode of DOLLHOUSE but can’t help but wonder, how long is it going to take for Tamoh Penikett’s Agent Ballard to come face-to-face with Eliza Dushku’s Echo? — TeamTamoh21
The TV Addict: Well the good news, according to my man on the inside of the Dollhouse (also known as the FOX press release that was sent out to the media on Wednesday) is that Agent Ballard will come face-to-face and fist-to-fist with Echo for the very first time on March 20th. The bad news is that we’re not so sure as to how many viewers are going to be around to watch this epic confrontation when the series finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA airs at the very same time! Cut to opportunity to shamelessly plug the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Frakkin’ Finale Party that theTVaddict.com is throwing in Toronto, click here for details.

Dear Mr. TV Addict, you would be legen… wait for it… dary in my books if you could give me some news about my favorite show HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. — GirlwiththeYellowUmbrella
The TV Addict: In what will hopefully cement my legendary status, here is a first look at THAT 70’s SHOW star Laura Prepon playing Ted’s old College girlfriend Karen. Much to Lily and Marshall’s chagrin (see photo), Karen sticks around for multiple episodes starting March 9th.

Is it wrong that I’m only looking forward to KINGS because Macaulay Culkin is going to be on the show? — MacAddict
The TV Addict: We’re not going to lie, kind of (as we make the classic “Home Alone” face!) But really, who am I to judge? Do you have any idea as to how much TV I watch? Which is why I’m going to answer you straight up by revealing that while alluded to in the third episode, Macaulay Culkin’s character doesn’t actually make an on-screen appearance until the sixth episode because it turns out that he was banished from the fictional kingdom of Gilboa for a very juicy reason. One that I would love to tell you more about, but can’t spoil here, due to the aforementioned non-disclosure agreement I signed upon my recent visit to the set of KINGS.

What happened to February Sweeps? — Jeremy
The TV Addict: The traditional home of an endless parade of new episodes, jaw-dropping plot twists and special guest stars was pushed back to March this year because the networks were concerned that their viewership levels would be down thanks to <strike>the internet, video games, a five thousand channel universe,</strike> the big scary switch to digital TV. And to ensure you don’t miss any of your favorite new and returning shows this March, be sure to drop by theTVaddict.com on Monday for your March 2009 downloadable and printable calendar.

Loving the new season of 24, any scoop? — VoteBauer
The TV Addict: Since FOX took the unusual step of going out of their way to send your very own TV Addict an early copy of March 2nd’s back-to-back episodes, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that you’re not going to want to miss what will undoubtedly be a “game-changer.”

Really excited about meeting you at your just announced BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Frakkin’ Finale Party, but I just have to ask. Is TV Addict Podcast co-host Ariel going to be there? — WhattheFrak
The TV Addict: If you honestly think it’s possible to keep Ari away from a bar filled of eligible bachelors on a Friday night, well, clearly you haven’t been listening to our podcast long enough! But in all seriousness, Ari wanted me to pass along the following message, “There’s a slim chance I will be out of town… but if I am in the country there’s no where else I’d rather be.”

I’m loving the latter half of TERMINATOR but am really hoping that we get to see the robot formerly known as Cromartie get up out of that chair and cause some mayhem. Whatcha got for me? — HotforHeadey
The TV Addict: How does an exclusive from the man himself, actor Garret Dillahunt sound? According to Dillahunt, John Henry will very soon get set loose on the world, make a very dangerous friend and find himself in his first fight that acts as a “real learning experience.” Not enough for you? Check back later today for our conversation with Dillahunt in its entirity.

More BSG spoilers please, I cannot wait until tonight! — Cylon423
The TV Addict: Two words, “Amber Alert.”

Well that about wraps it up folks for this edition of “Ask the Addict.” if you’ve got a question for the TV Addict, you can email me directly at ask@thetvaddict.com or follow me on twitter at twitter.com/thetvaddict.

Where the Frak have you been? Do you think you can just throw up an “Ask the Addict” anytime you damn well feel like it? I have needs you know! — TVLover28

The TV Addict: Look people, “Ask the Addict” is a two way street. One that only works when you actually take the time to you know, ASK THE ADDICT! Which is why we’re back. Because it turns out that more than a few of you <strike>have yet to discover google</strike> have some really great TV questions which I’m going to do my absolute best to help answer. Ready….

I’ve been pulling my hair out all week long trying to find a pair of 3D glasses in time for Monday’s 3D episode of CHUCK. Help me TV Addict, you’re my only hope. — DownWithFulcrum

The TV Addict: The good news is that according to our sources, and by sources I of course am referring to NBC’s official CHUCK news page, 3D glasses can be picked up for free at any of the the following retail locations: Kroger, Ralph’s, Frys, Safeway/Vons, Supervalu, Food Lion, A & P, Pathmark, Coburns, Fresh Brands, Hy Vee, Nash Finch, Roundy’s, Winn Dixie, K-Mart, Dollar General, Hess (select stores), CVS (select geographies), Meijer (on 1/31) and Target (on 1/31). CHUCK’s big news page also claims that, “Should a display’s supply of glasses run out or if a retailer near you does not carry the glasses, consumers can call 1-800-646-2904 to obtain a pair for free.”

The bad news is that if you currently reside outside the United States you’re pretty much out of luck. <strike>Unless of course you can scrounge together a cheap pair of plastic sunglasses, a red and blue permanent marker (ie. Sharpie) and a flat piece of clear plastic (ie. a transparency sheet) which combined, can easily be MacGyver’d together to create your very own pair of 3D glasses. Assuming of course you can follow these ridiculously instructions (Click for Video)</strike>

[Update] After checking in with our good friends over at NBC publicity, we’ve been informed that our attempt to MacGyver together our very own pair of 3D glasses will not work! Furthermore, viewers must use the “Color Code” glasses as the footage has been processed so it works with the Color Code technology.” D’oh!

Please tell me tonight’s episode of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA more than makes up for what Michael Ausiello called last week’s, “painfully tedious and self-indulgent art film.” — AusholeCharterMember#4

The TV Addict: What can I really tell you about tonight’s episode of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA other than it’s FRAKtastic? Well, it turns out a lot. Because I recently had the pleasure of viewing what I’m calling BSG meets Valkyrie and holy Frak it rocked! Sworn enemies are forced to work together to quash a Zarak and Gaeta led revolt, Starbuck and Lee Adama heat up the flight deck by doing their best Mr & Mrs. Smith impersonation and to cap it all off, the episode ends on a “to be continued…” so exciting that we pretty much can guarantee the death of at least one (possibly two) major characters when the episode concludes.

Is there any hope for a fourth season of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS? — shanemd (via twitter)

The TV Addict: It certainly look so, at least according to Brian Stelter’s incredibly informative TV Decoder Blog which reported this week that, “Ben Silverman, the co-chair of NBC Entertainment, sounds hopeful about a fourth season of the critically acclaimed drama.”

I need 3cc’s of HOUSE scoop, Stat! — ThirteenHater

The TV Addict: Since your insurance only covers you for 2cc’s a scoop, you’re going to have to settle for the following. On Monday’s 100th episode of HOUSE, Foreman’s attempt to sneak Thirteen into the clinical trial will have serious reprecussions for both of their careers. While two of your favorite Princeton Plainsboro docs start off the episode in under the sheets.

Any update on the ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie? — BlueMan4ever

The TV Addict: No. But, if you live in Toronto, fall between the ages of 17 and 27 and would like the opportunity to ask lone hold-out Michael Cera himself why he has yet to officially sign on the dotted line, stay tuned to theTVaddict.com next week to discover how you can become an extra on his upcoming film Scott Pilgrim vs. The World.

Any word as to when the final three episodes of PUSHING DAISIES are going to air? — to_paraphrase (via twitter)

The TV Addict: The facts are these: No. But I can tell you that “the episodes were fantastic!!!” thanks to our good friends over at thepiemaker.com who were lucky enough to be invited by Bryan Fuller himself to a very <strike>special</strike> exclusive screening of the final three episodes held for the DAISIES cast and crew. And in case you’re wondering, no we’re not at all insanely jealous that our good friends over at thepiemaker.com got to spend an evening with the entire cast of PUSHING DAISIES. Really.

Which means it’s time for another installment of May We Suggest: TV on DVD. [How many hours until HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER returns?]

Tonight’s theme is “Brilliant But Cancelled” and features an eclectic mix shows we wish were still on the air.

Our evening kicks off at 8PM with FOX’s ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, followed by our behind-the-scenes Hollywood hour at 9PM courtesy of Jay Mohr’s ACTION and Darren Star’s GROSSE POINTE. 10PM brings us a double helping of Aaron Sorkin. As we press play on the under-appreciated gem that was SPORTS NIGHT, finishing off the hour with a condensed version of STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP. All the Sorkin greatness minus the parts where he gets too preachy and condescending.

Call me the cynical addict, but the recent report about an ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT movie in the works couldn’t help but get this TV Addict thinking. Why exactly does Universal Studios want to spend millions of dollars on a movie based on a critically acclaimed yet highly unsuccessful television show. (Which rest assured, I’ll be first in line to see.)

Our theory. After the ridiculous success of SUPERBAD and JUNO, Universal wants to be in the Michael Cera business. And if backing up the Brinks truck for creator Mitch Hurwitz and his brilliant team of writers and actors is the quickest way to that so, well so be it.

Think I’m crazy? Wondering whether I’ve spent a few too many nights covered in blue paint? Check out this unconfirmed and not-at-all-fake advertising mock-up that may or may not have been leaked to theTVaddict.com.

You guys know me, right? You know what I like on TV, right? So you all know that my favorite thing about my favorite show, Arrested Development, was the amazing and adorably spot-on hilarious George Michael Bluth, played by Michael Cera, right?

Imagine my sheer delight when I found out about the most amazing website I’ve visited in a long time (besides thetvaddict.com of course), where CBS has produced and is airing what they call a “microseries”, 10 episodes of a television show about two sad-sack roommates attempting to sell their idea for a television show.

That website? Clarkandmichael.com

The sad sack roommates? Michael Cera (or as the credits call him “Mikey Cera”) and his real life best friend Clark Duke.

The microseries, which started as Clark’s thesis project in college, deals with Michael and Clark living in an apartment, trying their hardest to get these scripts out to producers throughout LA. These two guys have their own headshots littering the walls of their apartment. Their quirky personalities and just all out “we are awesome, we will succeed attitude” makes me so happy and provides plenty of hilarious, awkward situations for the two of them to get stuck in.

Michael Cera, who just recently turned 19 years old, and Clark Duke, who also stars in the new ABC Family show “Greek”, are fabulous together. I’ve said over and over again that very few people can pull of the awkward reaction shots and awkward uncomfortable humor like Michael can. Together with Clark, and his darling southern accent, I’ve found myself unable to contain fits of laughter each and every time I watch the show.

Just a few things that I love about the three episodes I’ve seen so far and some reasons for you to tune in –

1. They have a 1970s era opening credit sequence that involves costume changes, tandem bikes, hiding behind trees, sequined dancing and so much more.

2. Random guest appearances, like a cameo by Tony Hale (Buster Bluth) as the head of the fake network ATC Family who doesn’t like the script.

3. Their agent doesn’t know who Michael is and who Clark is so he just gets them mixed up repeatedly. My favorite agent-related thing is when he calls their voicemail and says “Hello Clark and Michael…oh and hello Clark”. You have to hear it to understand it but it’s fabulous!

4. The boys can’t agree on anything, and in their arguments, they provide the best reaction shots I’ve seen.

5. Clark, a lighter, and his dentist’s phone number. You have to watch episode three to know what I’m talking about.

6. “Roger, you know it says no bathroom stuff”. Episode 2!

7. Back to the opening credits – “Mikey Cera” in his scarf….to fit his “pencil neck”.

8. Their landlord invites them to a pasta party. He has 15 varieties of pasta. They are required to bring the sauce. “Not tonight. Not tonight ever.”

9. Clark drunk.

10. Rubbing alcohol

I can’t do it justice guys, but trust me, if you’re like me, and you’re missing your Arrested Development type humor, this is the “microseries” for you.

Episode 4 goes live on the site on Wednesday morning. Be sure to catch up. There is also a personal blog that the boys are using to keep up to date with their fans. The personal profiles had me giggling for a full day. The photo galleries and photo journals never fail to crack a smile, or sometimes move into another fit of laughter. Again, that’s www.clarkandmichael.com. Bookmark it, love it as I do (beware there is some coarse language, so don’t listen too loud at work)!

What about you guys – have you caught on to the amazing-ness of Cera and Duke?
What are you into these days – feedback is welcome – mytakeontv@thetvaddict.com
