Last Monday, theTVaddict played Paparazzi for an afternoon at the NBC UpFronts. Click the link below for some more great photos of 30 ROCK stars Tina Fey and Jane Krakowski. Not surprisingly, Alec Baldwin was missing in action.
Cause to be Concerned: Leading ladies of “The Girlie Show” have a nasty habit of being unceremoniously (or is it mysteriously) replaced. ‘Original’ Jenna, Rachel Dratch has yet to be seen since disappearing from the original pilot in April of 2006.
Is anyone else completely psyched for tonights return of MUST SEE TV COMEDY NIGHT DONE RIGHT on NBC? TIVO/PVR/VCR users take note, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK and SCRUBS are all super-sized and start at really strange times
8PM: THE OFFICE
8:44PM: 30 ROCK
9:23PM: SCRUBS
9:59PM: ANDY BARKER, P.I.
10:28PM: MY NAME IS EARL
Looks like it’s time to condense our ‘Save One Show’ poll (see sidebar). Via press release, NBC has just announced that it will renew its ratings starved critically acclaimed comedy 30 ROCK (returning to the network’s lineup on Thursday, April 5, with a special supersized episode at 8:40 p.m. - 9:20 p.m. ET) for the 2007-08 season.
“From the beginning, 30 ROCK has proven to be the kind of quality comedy that doesn’t come around very often, and we are very pleased to have this show back for a second season,” said NBC president Kevin Reilly. “We expect it to continue to build its increasingly loyal audience and become another of NBC’s classic comedy series.”
Now with 30 ROCK renewed, all that’s left for Kevin Reilly to do in order to secure his status as network television God is to give an early renewal to his other critical darling FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS. And while I’m wishing for things, how about bringing back STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP sometime this season.
Kevin you alone have the power to make a TV addict’s dream come true. Make it happen and we at theTVaddict.com will even promise to give RAINES another chance.
In an interview with Broadcasting & Cable, 30 ROCK creator and star Tina Fey revealed that she recently got a positive vibe from NBC that the network is expected to bring back the brilliant but ratings starved comedy for a second season. Said Fey in an interview to B&C:
“I literally just got off the phone with [Reilly], and he still tells me he will do everything in his power and feels strongly about it. We really are lucky to be one of the handful of shows he feels personally responsible for—us and Friday Night Lights.”
Keeping 30 ROCK and FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS are a good first step, but this TV addict would also like to see Reilly give STUDIO 60 a second season as well. That and get on the phone to the Donald and tell him, “You’re Fired!”
In a move that can only inspire confidence in the network’s critically acclaimed, yet low rated 30 ROCK, NBC has announced that the Tina Fey laugher will return early, on April 5 for a special night of super-sized comedies and laughs that include original episodes of THE OFFICE, SCRUBS, ANDY BARKER, P.I. and an encore episode of MY NAME IS EARL. The following Thursday, April 12, 30 ROCK will move to 9PM on Thursdays, formerly home to such comedy luminaries as CHEERS, SEINFELD and FRASIER. Sounds like comedy night done right to us! (Yes, even we’re surprised at how quickly we’ve been brainwashed by NBC’s newest catchy marketing slogan!)
For five weeks we’ve enjoyed a jam-packed Thursday night of television. But today is March 1 — and the party — or February Sweeps to be more specific, is officially over. That said, thanks to NBC’s ‘COMEDY NIGHT DONE RIGHT’ we’ve still got half a night of new comedy to look forward to (and one TV addict who’s already been brainwashed by NBC’s new marketing campaign).
Starting at 9PM with SCRUBS, the staff remembers past events while helping a patient regain his memory. Hmmm.. Would creator Bill Lawrence really sink so low as to give us a clip show? Tune in tonight find out. Following SCRUBS is the funniest new comedy this season — 30 ROCK starring the brilliant Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. On tonight’s episode, Jack gets a hip-hop producer to endorse his family’s line of wines. No doubt hilarity will ensue.
For a guaranteed laugh, tune into SCRUBS and 30 ROCK tonight. Afterall, NBC does promise ‘Comedy Night Done Right’ — and if there’s one thing a television network would never do, is hype up a show’s laugh-factor to attract viewers. But seriously, trust theTVaddict.com with this one (have I ever steered you wrong?). Gives SCRUBS and 30 ROCK a chance and you’ll most definitely laugh out loud, or at the very least crack a smile. If you don’t, I’ve got some shocking news for you — you may be a cylon.
Depressed that you’re sitting in your cubicle on a cold and snowy Monday (at least up here in Canada). Why not start your week off on the right foot. Check out theTVaddict.com’s Three funniest moments from last week’s TV. Guaranteed to put a smile on your face. Unless of course you don’t find 30 ROCK, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and THE OFFICE funny. And if that’s the case, you’ve got bigger problems on your hand. Namely a total lack of sense of humour and personality.
With sequences like these (click here to see the clip), theTVaddict.com is still amazed that more people are not tuning into 30 ROCK on NBC. Even more amazing (or disappointing) is the fact that NBC’s benching the comedy for six weeks in March in place of Andy Richter’s new comedy ANDY BARKER P.I. (Rest assured Mr. Richter, we do love you and will be tuning in). Support quality comedy. Don’t let 30 ROCK suffer the same fate as ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. Check it out this Thursday at 9:30PM (or at least PVR it while you watch GREY’S ANATOMY!)
If there’s one thing I learned from THE WEST WING (aside from the fact that I wish Martin Sheen were President), was that if you have bad news to deliver to the American public, release a press release on Friday afternoon when the media is focused on weekend fun rather then work.
Well fortunately for you [and unfortunately for NBC] theTVaddict never stops working! Subsequently, I’m here today to pass on some bad news for fans of quality television everywhere — specifically fans of STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP and 30 ROCK. According to an NBC press release:
NBC’s new mid-season drama “The Black Donnellys” will premiere on Monday, March 5 (10-11 p.m. ET) — following the hit drama “Heroes” (9-10 p.m. ET) – while the new comedy “Andy Barker, P.I.,” starring Andy Richter, will debut on Thursday, March 15 (9:30-10 p.m. ET), it was announced today by Kevin Reilly, President, NBC Entertainment.
“Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip” (currently Mondays, 10-11 p.m. ET) will return later this season on a date to be determined. “30 Rock” will return to its previous Thursday (9:30-10 p.m. ET) day and time with original episodes on April 19 after “Andy Barker” completes its slate of episodes.
Regardless of the fact that NBC promises that STUDIO 60 will return, the fact that the date is ‘to be determined’ is not a good sign for die hard Aaron Sorkin fans such as myself. Oh how I wish Jordan McDeere were President of the network. (see tshirt!)
