On the Set of 24 with Katee Sackhoff (NSFW)

November 4th, 2009

In September, you very own TV Addict was given the opportunity to visit the set of 24. And while I’m not at liberty just yet to share my photos of the unbelievably cool looking new and improved CTU (Think: Apple Store with orange highlights) or interviews with the cast (including new addition Mykelti Williamson and everybody’s favorite analyst Mary Lynn Rajskub), I did want to share — to coincide with last week’s release of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA: THE PLAN on DVD — an unexpected and hilarious somewhat not-safe-for-work tale of Edward James Olmos’ directing the movie, courtesy of Katee Sackhoff. Enjoy.

Morning Static: MAD MEN, SMALLVILLE, 24 & More!

August 18th, 2009

Welcome to our new morning round-up of big/interesting TV news that you may have missed over the past 24 hours because unlike us, there’s a fairly good chance that have a life outside of the small screen.

2.8 million Americans reinforce the fact they’re indeed smarter than a fifth grader by tuning into MAD MEN’s record breaking third season premiere. [EW]

After umpteen seasons on 7th HEAVEN, David Gallagher is finally being let out of Hollywood purgatory, signing on (alongside WAREHOUSE 13’s Allison Scagliotti) to SMALLVILLE as the Wonder Twins. [io9]

Melissa Joan Hart and Debi Mazar’s career trajectories officially hit rock bottom with yesterday’s announcement that they’ll be just a few of the D-Listers to go DANCING WITH THE STARS. [TV.com]

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
After a brief detour into a GG-glamorized vision of the ’80s, Serena and Co. are graduating from high school — but not before they try to finally smoke out the titular blogger who has plagued them for two whole seasons. Like many past seasons of Josh Schwartz’s other drama chronicling the rich and beautiful, everything is wrapped-up nice and pretty in the finale, complete with tantalizing setup for next season to top it off. Grade: B+ — Aleks Chan

24 (8PM FOX, Global in Canada)
If you’re the type of person who reads the last chapter of the book first just to make sure your favorite character makes it out alive, then you’ll probably enjoy this just posted item on Watch with Kristin. If you’re not that type of person, well, we hope that you have enough self control to not click here. And, we’re sorry!

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (8:30PM CBS, E! in Canada)
Wondering who Ted will meet at his surprise 31st birthday party? Hint, it’s not the mother.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
Says @indybyteman, “THE BIG BANG THEORY is the most consistently funny show on TV. Geek centric without being condescending. And Penny rocks.” Adds @thetvaddict: Sure, Penny’s cool and all, but what’s up with her taste in men. First Leonard, and now tonight Stuart? I think you’d agree that she can do better.”

GREEK (8PM ABC Family)
Says @laiq, “Because it’s a great show.” Adds @thetvaddict: Agreed, and tonight’s episode which may-or-may-not have Max getting down on one knee, and Rebecca taking a walk on the wild side is no exception.

GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
Says @moviedo, “HEY, will watching GOSSIP GIRL ’cause I’m obsessed and because I fear Blair Waldorf will come after me if I don’t.”

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (8:30PM CBS, E! in Canada)
Says @thetelevixen, “I’ll be watching HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, because a) it’s AWE-SOME and b) I’ve heard there’s going to be a HUGE surprise tonight!” Adds @thetvaddict: “AWE-SOME.” Don’t you mean LEGEN… wait for it… DARY?

Tonight’s TV Addictions: Monday April 20, 2009

April 20th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
CASTLE (10PM ABC)
The death of a socialite leads to Beckett attending a charity ball as Castle’s date. Talk about finding a way to turn a frown upside down!

CHUCK (8PM ABC)
Scott Bakula returns as Chuck’s dad, who finds himself in need of rescue. As if that weren’t enough, Chevy Chase also puts in an appearance and Morgan becomes a Buy More outcast.

GOSSIP GIRL (8PM CW)
If Serena returns from Spain still moping about Dan, I will personally slap her. Hard. Meanwhile, Blair might just prove herself the self-sabotage queen when she makes a secret pact behind new beau Nate’s back. And expect mugging and eye-rolling galore when Dan winds up having to literally serve his rich peers.

NEW & NOTABLE:
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS)
Yes, it’s a rerun, but it also offers valuable help in solving one of life’s biggest mysteries as Sheldon tries to figure out gift-giving etiquette.

April 13th, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS, CTV in Canada)
Ugly Betty’s first beau, Kevin Sussman decides to step up his game and romance Penny.

CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
If CHUCK does get the ax, it certainly won’t be due to a lack of promotable guest stars. Tonight, Chuck looks to his double-crossing ex-girlfriend Jill (Jordana Brewster) to help rescue his father (Scott Bakula) who has been abducted by Fulcrum forces (Chevy Chase). Meanwhile, at the Buy More, the nerd herd tries to derail a corporate evaluation supervised by Emmett (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT’s Tony Hale)

GREEK (8PM ABC Family)
Casey wants Max and Cappie to get along, so she seeks advice from special guest star Janeane Garofalo. Who, you know, has a great track record at getting along with people (see: Bill O’Reilly)

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (8:30PM CBS, E! in Canada)
Have you met Ted’s new intern? Well, you will tonight when he sets up his very own architectural firm in his apartment.

CASTLE (10PM ABC)
It’s the case of yet another killer with little-to-no imagination who quite literally takes a page from one of Castle’s best-selling books. This time, it’s a ritualistic killing that draws Beckett and Castle into the world of Vodun, a mysterious religion Castle researched for a previous book.

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
CHUCK (8PM NBC, CityTV in Canada)
With THE BIG BIG BANG THEORY, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER and GOSSIP GIRL all airing old episodes tonight, it’s CHUCK versus the REPEATS. Which means you really have no excuse not to tune into tonight’s brand new episode that has Chuck coming face-to-face with his TV dad played by Scott Bakula.

GREEK (8PM ABC Family)
When Casey and Ashleigh begin to doubt Rebecca’s work as a mole and suspect that she may be a double agent for Frannie, we begin to wonder if the GREEK writers may have spent a little too much time watching 24 on their hiatus.

SURVIVING SUBURBIA (9:30PM ABC, CityTV in Canada)
If Bob Saget wanted to distance himself from his roots on FULL HOUSE, he sure succeeded: he’s gone from in-over-his-head doting father to a cad of a ne’er do well husband. That wouldn’t be so bad if SURVIVING SUBURBIA wasn’t like every mid-’90s sitcom that already ended (or was canceled). Perhaps Saget should stick to stand-up and his narrator gig on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, both of which are far funnier than this. — Aleks Chan

CASTLE (10PM ABC)
A woman found frozen at a construction side leads Beckett and Castle to reopen a cold case. COLD CASE, really? You’d think a best-selling author like Richard Castle would know a thing or two about plagiarism, we’re just sayin’

Tonight’s TV Addictions: March 2, 2009

March 2nd, 2009

WHAT WE’RE WATCHING:
THE BIG BANG THEORY (8PM CBS)
That big bang you just heard was Wolowitz finally getting some action.

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (8:30PM CBS)
How is this for huge news? On tonight’s very special episode, we guarantee you’ll meet a mother. Not the mother mind you, but a mother nonetheless.

CHUCK (8PM NBC)
Since quality storytelling and the most likable cast on television has done little to attract America’s attention, who are we to blame co-creators Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak for tonight’s shameless stunt casting of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Brooklyn Decker.

NEW & NOTABLE:
24 (8PM FOX, Global in Canada)
With Jack continuing to root out conspirators inside the government, Agent Walker leading the investigation on the ground and the villainous Jonas Hodges (Jon Voight) exacerbating the situation, are we the only ones who regret having jumped off the 24 bandwagon six episodes ago?

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT (9:30PM CBS)
Tonight’s third season opener is entitled “Russell’s Secret.” Which we can only imagine is one helluva doozy considering he’s managed to keep this series on the air for three seasons.

SAVING GRACE (10PM TNT)
A sure sign March Sweeps has arrived is when serial special guest star Christina Ricci (GREY’S ANATOMY, ALLY MCBEAL, JOEY) arrives on the scene for the first of a three episode guest arc.

Ask the Addict: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, HOUSE, TERMINATOR & More!

February 27th, 2009

Hey TV Addict, lately you’ve been on a serious roll when it comes to BATTLESTAR GALACTICA spoilers, what have you got for us tonight? — LiveStrongAnders
The TV Addict:
Unfortunately, I’ve got some bad news for you that you may or may not want to hear. Tonight’s installment offers up another slow, meandering and quite frankly disappointing tale that only pays off in the exciting final act. But on the plus side, fans of both Katee Sackhoff and Grace Park in particular will be very pleased with the amount of screen-time both actresses receive.

I’m sick and tired of another episode of HOUSE that was practically Cameron and Chase free. Please tell me you’ve got some good news? — FreeCameron
The TV Addict:
I do not. Because as I learned after daring to defy the most powerful man in television scoopery earlier in the week, HOUSE scoop is the sole domain of one Michael Ausiello. That said, I do in fact have some interesting HOUSE news (just so we’re clear, it’s news not scoop) that will put a smile on the face of any and all ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT fans. On the March 16th episode of HOUSE cleverly titled “Here’s Kitty,” the always hilarious Judy Greer drops by to play a nursing-home worker who fakes sick to get House’s attention after the home’s pet cat singles her out as being on death’s door by sleeping next to her. Hilarious right? Okay not so much. But as long as the episode’s writers manage to sneak in Kitty’s trademark “Say Goodbye to These!” you won’t here me complaining.

Loved last week’s episode of DOLLHOUSE but can’t help but wonder, how long is it going to take for Tamoh Penikett’s Agent Ballard to come face-to-face with Eliza Dushku’s Echo? — TeamTamoh21
The TV Addict:
Well the good news, according to my man on the inside of the Dollhouse (also known as the FOX press release that was sent out to the media on Wednesday) is that Agent Ballard will come face-to-face and fist-to-fist with Echo for the very first time on March 20th. The bad news is that we’re not so sure as to how many viewers are going to be around to watch this epic confrontation when the series finale of BATTLESTAR GALACTICA airs at the very same time! Cut to opportunity to shamelessly plug the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA Frakkin’ Finale Party that theTVaddict.com is throwing in Toronto, click here for details.
