T.R. Knight dropped by THE ELLEN DEGENERES show this morning (Wednesday), and rather then the usual generic interview, decided to tell the truth with regards to what happened on the GREY’S ANATOMY set last October.
Knight said that Isaiah Washington “referred to me as a f—-t,” and loud enough for everyone to overhear. “I could’ve just let it slide and not said anything,” Knight told DeGeneres during the interview, “but it became important,” to speak out, as word leaked to the internet.
For some ridiculous reason, Washington continues to plead his innocence, even while backstage at Monday’s GOLDEN GLOBES. As Michael Ausiello reported today in ASK AUSIELLO:
It was by far the ugliest, most uncomfortable press-room moment I have ever experienced. And judging by the shell-shocked faces on the cast — particularly T.R. Knight and Patrick Dempsey, who have been class acts throughout this entire ordeal — it was a new low for them, too.
Why Isaiah Washington continues to lie about what happened is completely beyond comprehension. I’m all for people making mistakes, and I for one was willing to forgive Washington for his. But in order to move on, one must fess up and apologize for what happened. Aside from embarassing himself and his career, Washington’s continued denials are hurting the actors, the show, the network and most importantly, the viewers.
I think it’s time Shonda Rhimes [GREY’S Showrunner] gets back to her laptop and starts writing some new scenes for Dr. Burke. Rumour has it that Preston’s hand might not be healing as well as it should. One can’t help but wonder if Burke’s failed hand operation might effect his job at Seattle Grace? Here’s hoping!
