After announcing series pick-ups and debuting a new trailer for season 2 of OZARK, Netflix ended its presentation at the Television Critics Association with the release of premiere dates for five new or returning series, debuted a new trailer for THE GOOD COP and released a few more videos.
THE CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA will begin streaming on October 26, 2018. The series, starring Kiernan Shipka, “imagines the origin and adventures of Sabrina the Teenage Witch as a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror, the occult and, of course, witchcraft. Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit.” It’s written by RIVERDALE showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and produced by Greg Berlanti.
Netflix also announced a new series, THE KOMINSKY METHOD, which will debut on November 16, 2018. “The sun isn’t setting yet on the once famous Sandy Kominsky and his longtime agent Norman Newlander. Academy Award Winners Michael Douglas (Kominsky) and Alan Arkin (Newlander) star as two friends tackling life’s inevitable curveballs as they navigate their later years in Los Angeles, a city that values youth and beauty.” Both comedic and emotional, The Kominsky Method is an 8-episode, half-hour single camera show created by 8-time Emmy Award Nominee Chuck Lorre.
Meanwhile, THE INNOCENTS (a new series revolving around teenagers Harry and June who run away from their repressive families to be together, they’re derailed by an extraordinary discovery — that June can shape-shift) is available beginning on August 24th, 2018.
Netflix also debuted a full-length trailer for THE GOOD COP, a new series starring Tony Danza and Josh Groban. The show is set to premiere on September 21, 2018.
It was also announced that season 5 of CHEFS TABLE will begin streaming on September 28, 2018.
In terms of new shows, SALT, FAT, ACID, HEAT will premiere on October 19, 2018. “Based on Samin Nosrat’s best-selling, James Beard Award-winning book, SALT, FAT, ACID, HEAT is the essential guide to the basic elements of good cooking. Directed by Caroline Suh, each episode of this four-part series joins our spirited guide Samin as she travels to home kitchens of Italy, the southern islands of Japan, the heat of the Yucatán and back to Berkeley’s Chez Panisse—where she started her culinary career—to demystify and explore the central principles of what makes food delicious and how each of us can easily incorporate those elements into every dish.”
Finally, the streaming service also released character featurettes for DISENCHANTMENT, a new animated series from SIMPSONS creator Matt Groening, which launches globally on August 17, 2018.
