There’s only two episodes left of THE 100, and a multitude of storylines are still up in the air. Last week, Clarke, Bellamy, Octavia and Jasper failed to convince Luna to accept her birthright and defeat A.L.I.E. Instead, trouble found them out there on the oil rig, and the four were unceremoniously sent back to dry land.
Then back at Arkadia, Raven tried to use the admin login and kill switch, but not before A.L.I.E. was able to pull herself out of their computers. Meanwhile, the same thing happene over at Polis, where Pike destroyed the backpack just as A.L.I.E. escaped to the Ark in space. With no more options for the group, it’s hard to tell where the two-part finale will go next.
So in this week’s episode, titled “Perverse Instantiation (Part 1),” Clarke reaches out to an old frenemy, King Roan, to lead her into Polis. It’s a risky strategy, but it seems Clarke is desperate now with no one left to count on.
The episode is named after philosopher Nick Bostrom’s idea that a machine (or A.I.) interprets human commands according to their letter and not their spirit. Although this most certainly applies to A.L.I.E., in this case it may also apply to Clarke. At this point, she’s willing to achieve her goal by whatever means necessary.
What will Clarke do to defeat A.L.I.E.? Can she find another Nightblood? Will Murphy, Indra and Pike make it out of Polis alive?
Don’t miss tonight’s episode of THE 100 airing at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
