Thursday’s This Fall: Watch, PVR, Pass!
September 10th, 2009

Ace Says:
Oh and I have given up on Parks and Recreations, but if it is better this season let me know and I might watch it on-line.
bws Says:
Well, let’s talk Thursday. I wish Fringe could have stayed put. Because now I have a triple booking on a dual tuner DVR. I have similar problems on Sunday nights but thankfully HBO, SHO, and AMC all have later evening broadcasts. Grey’s gets bumped to the standard DVR because I hate it and only my wife watches it.
So on Thursdays, I’m doing Flash Forward, SNL, P&R (which I bet got some summer tweaking; ironically, I found Amy P the weakest link of the show, not a good sign), Fringe, Grey’s (wife only), Office, and Community. If I had to guess which ones I’ll be watching Thursday night, I’d guess FF or Fringe (depending on if the wife is watching FF with me or not), SNL, and Office. The rest will wait until I hit the elliptical in the morning.
Nick Says:
I notice TVA plans to watch 3 networks simultaneously at 9pm, while DVRing a 4th. Slick trick. How is that possible?
My Thursday solution: Watch VD and SN live, and check out the NBC comedies during reruns or online (if I need a quick laugh). All other nets are dead to me this night.
Linda B. Says:
Ace is right, this is the hardest night of the week. Plus, my dog Trinity has advanced training class on Thursday nights starting on the 24th, so I’ll be DVRing everything for a while.
DVR – Survivor, Fringe, Thursday comedies, Supernatural, Flash Forward, and Private Practice. Will be watching Grey’s Anatomy when I get home. Haven’t decided yet if i’ll start Vampire Diaries.
bws Says:
Wait til we get to Sundays… if you include Mad Men, Dexter, Curb Your Enthusiasm, plus the networks, it is very, very crowded. And then toss in a an interesting Sunday night football game or say, the FREAKING EMMYS in a few weeks and man, Sunday is near impossible to juggle a DVR.
theTVaddict Says:
NIck,
Or should I say, elementary dear Watson! I get both the east and west coast feed so I’m able to PVR two shows on the east coast and then three hours later watch everything on the west!
Todd W in NC Says:
Wow, even Thursday nights aren’t appealing to me much this season.
I was mildly considering giving Vampire Diaries a try, but if it’s on at the same time as Survivor and Flash Forward, then forget it. And, that’s it. Just those two shows for me.
Ace Says:
bws — I don’t have any of the premium channels, so I’ll be watching Dexter and Curb on DVD once the season ends…makes my life easier. And I haven’t started watching Madmen yet (I know, I know…I’m getting to it!).
Aleks Says:
I’m not watching anything on ABC the night it airs, and I’m only recording FlashForward because the pilot wreaks with potential and I want to see it grow. Otherwise, I just set the DVR to record NBC until Leno. Bones and Fringe for the weekend. And I will continue my sad affair with The Mentalist. Because Simon Baker’s hair has me hypnotized.
Josh Emerson Says:
WATCH LIVE: Flash Forward, The Office, Community (when at 9:30), 30 Rock
DVR: SNL Weekend Update, Community (when at 8:00), Grey’s Anatomy
I gave up on Parks & Rec after a few episodes last year. Same with Private Practice. I’ve been wanting to get back into Supernatural but am thinking I should watch what I missed first.
Tim Says:
I’m jealous of your DVR/PVR abilites. lol Thursday is a crowded night for me. I’m glad that ABC moved UGLY BETTY to Friday. LOL Everything I liked comes on 7-9 and then I’m free at 9. lol
bws Says:
Whose butt do I need to kiss to get east and west coast feeds? (And DVD screeners, etc).
Ace, the premium channels are what keep me alive. I’ll pretty much watch anything that Showtime and HBO toss at me. And Dexter is my second favorite show on the air. Just amazing. I want Michael C Hall to win the Emmy so badly.
You’re really not missing THAT much with Mad Men. It’s the slowest show in the history of shows. It would be much, much better on DVD than on TV, especially cause I can’t get AMC in HD. I find it harder to follow than LOST. Still, the acting and the production value yanks me back week after week.
Nicole Woods Says:
Thursday nights make my two dual dvrs groan!
My secret however, and not really a true one… I do not watch ANYTHING live, I watch it later in the night or on another day. By doing this I can fast forward through all the commercials, and save some more time.

Watch: Flash Forward
The Office/Community (Yay Joel!)
The Mentalist (also hypnotized by Simon’s hair)
DVR: DH likes Amy Poehler, so he can DVR Parks & Recreation
Don’t know where Vampire Diaries fits in-haven’t watched it yet.
starkiller Says:
Some shows you can watch online later if you miss them when they air. I think Fringe will be available online the next day or something on FOD

This is by far the hardest day of the week to schedule
. At 8, I’ll be watching FlashForward and probably DVRing Bones (I think I’ll watch the first Vampire Diaries tonight, but it might be a little too emo for my taste).
At 9, I’ll be watching Fringe and DVRing The Office/Community and catching Grey’s later on-line.
At 10, I’m giving Private Practice two episodes to either pull me in or convince me to delete it from my DVR. And I’ll be DVRing Project Runway for sure.
At least I’ll have something to watch while my husband is watching football on Sunday
.
