Inspired by yesterday’s news that 31 year-old Trevor Donovan has enrolled at West Beverly as 90210’s newest student, comes today’s TV Addict Top 5 highlights actors who we’re sorry to say, were way too old to be playing high school.

The guy that plays Navid is also pushing 30 (born in 1980). And as much as I love Joanna Garcia, they better make her an older student on Gossip Girl and not pretend like she is young enough to be a freshman (born 1979).

Annalynne Mccord is not too old, she is only 21. James Van Der Beek was not too old either, back in 1998 when Dawson’s Creek first started he was also just 21. But the rest I can agree with.

If AnnaLynne is only 21, I’d hate to see what she’ll look like when she’s 40. But more realistically, if she’s 21, I’ll eat my notebook. Either way, chicks didn’t look like that when I was in HS.

I know you wanted a variety in your top 5 list, but really, just about the whole case of BH 90210 (classic) were guilty of looking too old. With Gabrielle Carteris, you definitely picked the most unconvincing of the bunch, but Luke Perry was a close 2nd.

Not the greatest example in the world, but I think Charisma Carpenter as Cordelia on Buffy:tVS looked too old for high school too. According to IMDb, she was around 27 at the start of Buffy. Hard to believe she’s turning 39 this month, but back then and still today, she’s always been very hot.

On the other side, Keiko Agena as Lane was a very convincing high school student during the early seasons of Gilmore Girls, I was really shocked when I found out she was already in her late 20s when she played a teen, she really blended with then 16 year old Alexis Bledel!

Totally disagree with James Van Der Beek – when the show started, his voice was still cracking!
What about Jessie (Elizabeth Berkley) from Saved by the Bell?

I had the hardest time buying Weevil as a high school student on Veronica Mars. He was only 21 when VM started, which really isn’t that old. But I just could NOT see him as a student.

What about Stacey Dash on Clueless (movie and show) She was 31 when the movie first came out and was on the show for several years after that. I believe she was even married with a couple of kids while playing the role of 16 year old Dionne.
