Silly Says:

Oh come on —- where is the sexy Winchesters dad?
He even took a ticket to hell to save his son, if thats not material for best dad than what is?

Todd W in NC Says:

Wow, this is a harder category than I thought. I didn’t realize until now that most of the shows I watch don’t have characters who are fathers, at least not really good ones.

I’ll go along with Sandy Cohen from The O.C. He may even be the best one.

The only other great ones I can think of are Jimmy Brock (Picket Fences) and Captain Benjamin Sisko (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine). As honorable mentions, I’d say Rom (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), Martin Crane (Frasier), Tom Baldwin (The 4400), and Richard Tyler (The 4400).

babygirrr Says:

How could Pappa Mars not be #1! lol He will always be my number one top TV Daddy! HOT DOG!!!! All your others are great, except I agree Daddy Winchester should have made an honorable mention, he tried his best with his boys and there was no doubt he loved those boys!

Aleks Says:

What about Eric Taylor (Kyle Chandler)? And I second Sandy Cohen — his eyebrows are thick with wisdom.

Amber Says:

As much as I love the 90210 shout-out, how could Jim Walsh even be on there? He was the best father on 90210, but that’s not saying much.

He shouldn’t be on the list just for his blatant favoritism between his kids, including yelling at Brenda for making out with her boyfriend on the couch, while allowing Brandon to lose his virginity in his house while his parents are sleeping in their room down the hall with nothing more than a smile and a “I’ll tell your Mom you were careful.” Gross, and such a double standard.

Nick Says:

Peter Griffin. ’nuff said.

Jill Says:

Amber, you are so right about Jim Walsh.

theTVaddict Says:

Firstly, My apologies for neglecting Kyle Chandler’s Coach Taylor. If I could do it all again, I’d probably have included him over Jim Walsh. That said, to TV Addict’s of a certain age, Jim Walsh was one of our first TV parents. I’ll never forget how he totally lost it when he discovered Brenda went off to Tijuana with Dylan. Seriously, crazy stuff!

Ace Says:

Tim “The Toolman” Taylor (Home Improvement)
Michael Bluth (Arrested Development)
Martin Crane (Frasier)
Frank Costanza (Seinfeld)
Danny Tanner (Full House)
Hal (Malcom in the Middle)
Red (That 70s Show)

Downey Says:

There is clearly a lack of JACK BRISTOW!

Seth Says:

My Two Dads: Michael Taylor (Paul Reiser) & Joey Harris (Greg Evigan)

Wonder Years: Jack Arnold (Dan Lauria)

Nick Says:

Completely forgot….but funniest dad: ARTHUR SPOONER.
