Bryan Fuller Exits HEROES [Again!], We Read Between the Lines

June 22nd, 2009

With today’s big news revolving around PUSHING DAISIES mastermind Bryan Fuller departing from his role as creative consultant (or as we like to call him, saviour) of HEROES so that he may focus his energy on developing new shows for NBC Universal, theTVaddict.com thought it might be fun to read between the lines of the statement Fuller sent to Ain’t It Cool News earlier in the day.

1) “Development was really starting to heat up” — Since NBC’s ‘new and exciting’ fall slate including 101 QUESTIONS, MERCY and THE MARRIAGE REF doesn’t exactly have “Must See TV” written all over it.

2) “And it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC” — Yes, the “Jay Leno” experiment really looks to be a winner!

3) “I love that cast dearly and am sad to go” — But Fuller knows a sinking ship when he see one and if Dr. Horrible taught him anything (besides, you know Neil Patrick Harris = Awesome), it’s that “a man’s gotta do, what a man’s gotta do.”

Yep. Okay then. Goodbye, Heroes.

Ace Says:

My thoughts exactly, ewanspotter. This sounds like the death nell for Heroes. Good for Bryan though. I would much rather he to develop something all his own. Hopefully this one will last longer than 2 short seasons (*cries in a corner*).

Ken Says:

He was trying to save a sinking ship, there isn’t much they can really do to revive it at this point, though he did at least make it bearable.

Todd W in NC Says:

I was already debating whether to drop Heroes from the TV watching roster, and I think this makes up my mind.

I’m not even a huge fan of Bryan Fuller. But, the show has been in such need of being saved, that if the alleged saving grace of the show is bowing out, I have little hope for it getting better.

Theo Says:

I haven’t faithfully watched since the end of season 2, I was debating on whether to jump back in, but I don’t know if it’s even worth it now.

theTVaddict Says:

Theo,
It isn’t!
