Review: TRUST ME

January 26th, 2009

TRUST ME is MAD MEN for the rest of us.

What it lacks in 60’s style and elegance, obsessive attention to detail and Christina Hendricks, it more than makes up for thanks to two of the most likable actors in Hollywood.

WILL & GRACE’s Eric McCormack (Mason) and ED’s Tom Cavanagh (Conner) play two best friends and working partners at one of Chicago’s most prominent ad agencies. They’re also the sole reason this TV Addict is buying what TRUST ME is selling.

From goofing off poolside on a business trip, bickering thanks to an unexpected promotion (for one of them) or drinking Starbucks by the gallon, Mason and Conner demonstrate television friendship at its finest. And if the first two episodes are any indication, the start of a beautiful bromance.

TRUST ME premieres on Monday January 26 at 10PM on TNT

Or, perhaps, “Bosom Buddies” for the rest of us?

theTVaddict Says:

Joe in LA,
Having never seen BOSOM BUDDIES, I’ll have to take your word for it :)

TheTVLegion Says:

Having seen the first two episode myself, I have to agree with your review. The show has it’s problems but Tom Cavanagh and Eric McCormack make the show worth watching. I think Tom Cavanagh is truly the star of the show and I think the show wouldn’t be the same if he wasn’t one of the main characters. I think the show could work on the advertising storylines and the supporting cast needs work as well, but I am going to continue watching the show.

Can’t wait! I’m very excited for this. I love Tom!! :)

Frank Says:

First there’s “Lie to Me” on FOX now there’s “Trust Me” on TNT I don’t know what to believe!

Paul in Ottawa Says:

Hey TVAddict,

Is the show playing on any Canadian channels? I like both these guys and I’d like to give the show a try. I don’t think we get TNT.

theTVaddict Says:

My Fellow Canadians,

Both TRUST ME, and the CLOSER, alongside another TV Addict favorite (SKINS) can be found in Canada on a very obscure and somewhat new cable channel called The SuperChannel. For more info, including how to subscribe, check out:

Paul in Ottawa Says:

Thanks for the info!

Tyler Says:

This is my kind of series! It’s fast-paced, high energy, funny, and it has heart. If you love good creative, this is the show for you. Set in the ad world, you get a glimpse of both sides of the biz, both fun and frazzled. The lead actors are loveable and engaging. Trust me, it’s worth your time. Highly recommended.

Jotta Says:

Just waiting to see it.. Nice guys, I love it!
