I think the saddest thing I read among these comments was “the candidates are seriously overexposed.” Come on… this is the first and only debate, and the first time that sarah palin would be getting anything even close to real exposure to the American people.

Hardly! First, "overexposed" means in the entire campaign period, not just in debate. I know I can find out anything I need to know before the election next month. Second, I only need to know a few big-ticket things about a candidate to know I'm not going to vote for them. Everything else is lies and double-speak and attacks and fluff and words other people put into their mouths. I already know the thing I need to know. I knew months ago--maybe YEARS ago--who I was going to vote for.

If the American people aren’t willing to educate themselves at least a little bit where the most important decision they make every four years is concerned, then they can consider going to bed without television their punishment.

That statement implies that the live debate is the only possible place to get educated, and it's a very false implication.

I watched Smallville and Supernatural. There were plenty of places to watch or listen to the debates; frankly I'm so tired of this endless campaign if I didn't have something else to watch, I might sell my soul to a demon to get some relief!!! Also, you don't have to be a teenage girl to like Supernatural, I'm way over the demographics and I love it!

"No politician was gonna keep me from the best Supernatural episode in series history. Seriously, did you see that…?"

Totally agree. One of the best episodes of the series.

And besides, I'd rather just watch the Vice Presidential debates when they get parodied on SNL where I can actually enjoy it more than I would the real thing. The news and internet can fill me in on how the real thing happened anyways.

I prefer to read transcripts (or summaries) of debates. It takes the "charisma" factor out of the equation. You get the bare facts (or lack thereof in some cases).

I watched Supernatural and spent an hour reading about the debates this morning. I don't figure I missed out on anything.

The debates are analyzed, re-analyzed, and then parodied on SNL (a more entertaining forum). That blibber is available at will and ad nauseum.

I think the saddest thing I read among these comments was "the candidates are seriously overexposed." Come on... this is the first and only debate, and the first time that sarah palin would be getting anything even close to real exposure to the American people. The McCain camp did a fantastic job over the past five weeks, since Palin joined the ticket, of keeping her away from the media and/or microphones. Has she been covered constantly? Yes. But has it been with regard to her stance on the actual issues? No.

Frankly, it should be required that the debates are carried on every channel, including cable. If the American people aren't willing to educate themselves at least a little bit where the most important decision they make every four years is concerned, then they can consider going to bed without television their punishment.

Sarah Palin would make better demon bait! (kidding...sorta)

The debates were over way before supernatural here, so no worries.
