MOONLIGHT Fans: Are You Happy Now?

August 16th, 2008

alex oloughlin moonlight

Now that CBS has taken the ‘bite’ out of MOONLIGHT’s cancellation by signing Alex O’Loughlin to a one year holding deal with the hopes of developing a new starring vehicle for him in partnership with high profile TV Producer Mark Gordon [GREY’S ANATOMY, ARMY WIVES, CRIMINAL MINDS]. This TV Addict feels the need to ask the obvious question. Is a talent holding deal enough to get MOONLIGHT fans back to CBS, if [and when] the Untitled Alex O’Loughlin Project premieres?

Thanks to The Hollywood Reporter for the Tip

allie Says:

I’m curious as to the show he is going to star in. I wonder if it’ll be the rumoured criminal minds spin-off.

Mel Says:

Maybe. Depends on what it is. I liked Mick, not necessarily Alex. Moonlight is the only thing I’ve ever seen him in.

Pam Says:

Depends entirely on what show they come up with, and I’m not holding out too much hope given its track record lately.

SimplyKimberly Says:

I’m happy for Alex and will support him on his new show. But the chemistry between him and Sophia and Jason will still be sorely and bitterly missed.

Moonlight should have gotten a second season.

KPat Says:

I’m pleased to hear that CBS has found a new vehicle for Alex. I wish him the best. Whether I actually watch the show or not is entirely another matter. I don’t watch shows just because I like the actors. I watch shows because I like the quality of storytelling, actor/character chemistry, and subject matter combined. MOONLIGHT had all three. Will I tune in if Alex is put in another crime drama? Probably not - sheesh, how many more CSI-type shows do we need??? I watch precious little TV these days as it is, thanks to the glut of lousy so-called “reality TV” (I HATE that stuff with a passion) and general lack of originality in programming. Two of the three new shows I watched and loved this year, MOONLIGHT and JOURNEYMAN, were abandoned far too soon by their respective networks. Only CHUCK is left. So I guess my long answer to your short question is “NO, I’m not happy.” MOONLIGHT deserved a second season.

Sam Says:

Absolutely NOT. Despite what that Tassler woman said (lying, I presume), the mail she received was NOT about the actors on Moonlight, but the show itself. Viewers, in general, do not become passionate solely about an actor. For example, I love each and every one of the Arrested Development actors, but it was the SHOW that I was upset about losing. The great actors will always go on to find great new projects.

That said, I could care less about CBS and whatever new crime drama (c’mon, you know it’s true) they’ll stick Alex in. It was the vampire story we loved and lost. Just ask all of those Twilight fanatics if they’d care about losing the film series….but, oh, hey, one of the stars will be “signed to a talent holding deal for an unspecified crime series!” Give me a frikkin break, CBS. You blew it big time, and you’ll soon realize it when you “The Ex List” bombs like no other series in network history.

Kim Says:

Happy? Not really. I am a MOONLIGHT fan, not just a fan of Alex. The chemistry between Mick and Beth was wonderful to see each week. I loved waiting for Josef to come up with one of his snarky comments each week. This show had it all…romance, drama, mystery. It was a giant thrill ride. If it’s another “crime” show, I can definitely say that I won’t be tuning in. CBS had a goldmine in Moonlight, and they didn’t even realize it. Vampires are SO in right now, and CBS definitely dropped the ball when they cancelled Moonlight.

CC Says:

As a TV fan I’m insulted by Nina whatever her name is (everyone thinks shes an idiot anyway) by assuming all Moonlight fans just liked the show because of Alex, which is completely untrue. She just used that as a copout excuse. Why would we take the chance and watch another show he’s in if it’s on CBS when they’ll just go and cancel it again? Hello, LOGIC!

christian Says:

no im not happy!! i loved MOONLIGHT not just alex… he was AMAZING as MICK, ive yet to check out his other work (even thought i think he is an amazing actor) however i really think the role of mick was great for him.. i’ll definately check out the new show, but if its terrible im not going to watch jsut because he is in it… ill just re-watch my tivo’d episodes of moonlight!

C Says:

Your question and article are like comparing apples to oranges. MOONLIGHT fans looked for the entire show, cast and crew to return. Not just Alex… It’s good for him signing with CBS, but devastating for Moonlight fans that were working hard for the shows return, which won’t happen now. Perhaps your question should have been: Alex O’Loughlin Fans: Are you happy now?

Nina was dead wrong when she stated Moonlight’s popularity was actor based [Alex: who was good as Mick]. Then again she is very good about making idiotic/untrue statements which seem to always insult the intelligence of the fans. She’s so far removed from the fans it’s ridiculous… Like when it was suggested Moonlight become a CSI like show. Geesh! It was a vampire P.I. show that was the best on any lineup for many years…

So no I am not happy nor will I watch anything on CBS with or w/o Alex! (NOTE: I watch shows that keep me entertained and could care less who the actors are)

Linda B. Says:

I have a feeling that holding deal will expire and they will not find anything for him. Maybe they’re just holding on to him so no one else has the opportunity to snatch him up.

And no, I’m not happy. I liked the show, not just the actors.

Karen Says:

Why would anyone think this is a trade off for the return of a cancelled show? So what he’s willing to crawl back to the network that treated him and his fans so horribly? They most likely cut the legs off whatever project they put him in anyway.

CBS just doesn’t do “orginal” projects. Just look at their “original” series about the non - psychic psychic who just has good observational skills. It’s nothing more than a rip off of “Psych”, and far from original.

I hope Mr. O’laughlin realizes that signing with a network like CBS has the potential to ruin his career. If a second series gets taken off the air before it hits its stride, his bankablitily goes in the toilet.

Terry Says:

No, not any happier than I was a week or a month ago. What CBS does makes no difference in my home with it blocked on my TV - only will have the block taken off if Moonlight comes back. We can live without CBS or anyone they hire quite well thank you.

francis Says:

It depends. I like Alex’ acting, and I discovered him through Moonlight. I wish Alex all the best, but I would love to see more Moonlight. If the show they stick him in is any good, I would watch it, but not if he is the only good thing about it. I never took up The Shield after watching one episode, I just didn’t like it despite Alex. But wouldn’t it be smarter to give him back a show that already has a following and fits quite well in the vampire boom that we are experiencing just now?

April Says:

Yes! I’m very excited for Alex and all of his fans! He deserves it all! If Moonlight fans want to dig their heels in and cling to something that is no more, not watching simply because of that then it’s their loss.

LisaS Says:

Am I happy about this ? Well this is tricky question. So I guess the answer for me is yes and no. For Alex I’m happy because he is at least going to be getting paid no matter what and that is a good thing. This deal could actually work for us Moonlight Fans but it’s still to early to tell at this point.

Moonlight Fans are still out here fighting for our show’s return with the entire cast & crew intact. If Nina Tassler, CBS and all of the bloggers & journalists think for one minute that this going to placate fans then I’m sorry to say you all thought wrong because it won’t.

The only way we are going to be happy is by one of three things either we get Moonlight’s return for a Well Deserved Second Season which by the way it earned despite the writers strike with the ENTIRE CAST & CREW INTACT. Or at the very least we get a mini-series or movies. The main thing is we get it back in some form.

Nina Tassler said recently that they wanted to win back viewers loyalty & trust. Hey Nina if you really want to win back some 8 Million plus fans then get a clue and really listen to what the fans want and return Moonlight back to the airwaves. Vampires are in, in case you haven’t heard.

As I just said the Campaign for Moonlight is still on going, we are still writing & sending letters, postcards, emails. We are still hitting the message boards. We are still focused on and committed to continuing the Blood Drives, the Bone Marrow Registry & Donations and all of our charity campaigns & donations to help those less fortunate and in need.

Those in Los Angeles should take notice because the bus ads calling for more Moonlight will be out this week and will be seen all over the LA area.

We are still out here whether you like it or not, we are not going away and we aren’t backing down and we are most definitely not going away

A Mahoney Says:

I just wanted to make a comment about this. I will support Alex in anything he does, and will give this new show a chance. However, I have some concerns about it. If CBS cancelled Moonlight, and it already had a great cast, good story line, large fanbase, wonderful writers and producers already then will this new show get cancelled too after one year as well (successful or not)? I am just saying there is some trust issues for me about CBS airing any new series. on a side note: I would just like to say that I would be happier if they would bring Moonlight back in some form, but if this new show of Alex’s is any good, I will definitely be watching every week. However, CBS will never make another show as successful as Moonlight was ever again.

Nva_gvup_Mick Says:

Is that a trick question? As an Alex fan, I think he’s a tremendous actor who can totally emerge himself in a role. He played Mick St. John really well and I’m sure he can tackle on any new lead roles he’s being offered. So I’m very happy for him and I’m glad that CBS recognizes his potential.

Now, I’m also a Moonlight fan. I have to accept that Alex is as good as gone from Moonlight, for good… I can’t fault Alex for signing on with CBS, he has to do what’s right for him. But I still want Moonlight to return. I saw some of the comments written by folks who’ve been to the Moonlight Con in April and met the ML writers who discussed about the future story lines for Moonlight .. My heart bleeds for more MickBeth adventure, more Coraline and Josef and more innerworkings in the vampire community…

Now, of course, everyone would prefer Moonlight to return with Alex, it’s a given. And a show without Alex will not be the same. But let’s say, if Joel Silver wants to resurrect his Moonlight but Alex has gone on to become a big leading star in some wild and successful series, would you not want to see ML coming back? I’d pay good money to see Season 2 with the same original writers and showrunners, and as many of the original cast as possible. I have to have faith that the casting director will find actors with good chemistry like he/she did before. I hope Sophia, Jason, Shannon, David etc. are available and willing to come back, of course it’d be the ideal situation. But if they aren’t, I’d still want ML back with the same writers and showrunners.

As for a new Moonlight without Mick St. John (and putting Josef or another character as the lead) ARGH!!.. but I’m in love with MickBeth. To me, it won’t be Moonlight without Mick.

The actor who played Haggan’s son having an affair with his step-mom in Fleur de Lis, he’s a good candidate to play Mick…

Nick.C Says:

To not watch a network because they canceled a show you liked is goofy. Its very naive and kinda child like. This stuff happens every season.Good show with loyal fans get canceled all the time.Be happy you got 1 season of a show you loved and move on.To hold such bitterness is unhealthy and just ,well, stupid.Every season im bummed that one of the shows i like is not coming back but thats life. All you can do is support it while its there.I was one of the people who sent NUTS to get Jericho back so i understand your pain but move on….

jackie Says:

I am not sure what this is going to do for Moonlight fans? We are all attached to the series not any one person on the series. The show was really great. For one hour a week you could lose yourself in something other then your normal stressful life. I think that this is Nina’s way of trying to get herself out of a very bad position. She made a mistake by cancelling Moonlight and now this is what she is trying to do to save face. Oh well I guess you cant win them all.

Linda S. Says:

Yes, I am very happy for Alex. He is moving on with his career and I wish him all the best as he deserves it. I dearly loved Moonlight but there are alwways 2 sides in a “divorce” Joel Silver and Warenr Borthers share blame for not getting a 2nd season.

Claudia Says:

I am very happy for Alex and hope this will be really good for him. I will follow whatever he does, because I know he will do it splendidly.

But I am still fighting to get Moonlight back. As a ML fan I will not be happy until we get ML back. A fan of the show is a an of the show. I just happen to be an Alex fan also.

pinkiepie230 Says:

You bet I am happy. Alex O’Loughlin is one of the most talented actors to come along in the 21st century. He is going to make it big one of these days and we can say we knew him when. I have seen everything he has ever done and I can’t get enough of him. The man is pure magic on the screen. Go Get ‘Em Alex, it’s your time to shine! I will be watching!

GinaJas Says:

I will watch Alex no matter what! I loved Moonlight, still love it, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is over and Alex has to move on and work. He has to advance his career and I support him fully.

SHAME ON YOU WHO CALLED YOURSELVES HIS LOYAL FANS AND NOW ARE TURNING ON HIM LIKE THE RABID FANS YOU WERE CALLED!

As soon as you hear he is indeed moving on you turn on him! Et Tu, Brute??

Yes, alot of you know who I am, I used to be one of you! But I cannot stand by and listen to this garbage any more! Get over it!!!

ALEX, I wish you the best that life has to offer you, and I eagerly await your new projects as a LOYAL fan.

Mandy Says:

I absolutely adored Moonlight and I thought it was a very special show, but I also feel that despite our best efforts it isn’t coming back.

I am very happy that Alex’s obvious talent is being recognised by CBS. It’s true that it may not work out for him in his next show, but that holds true for any actor, in any series, on any network. He can’t not work because it might not ‘take’. That would kill his career quicker than anything CBS could do to him.

I will very eagerly watch anything that Alex does in the future; he is so much more than Mick St John and however much I loved that character, I hope I can enjoy his next character as well.

T. Says:

While we were watching HBO last night, the preview for the True Blood series came on. My hubby looked at me and said how stupid CBS was for cancelling Moonlight. Didn’t they realize they had a goldmine in their hands??? Between this and the Twilight movie coming out, such a shame. Hopefully another network takes notice of this wonderful show called Moonlight.

So, to answer your question, NO I am not happy. I loved Moonlight for the story NOT the actors. It was all of the cast that worked together as a whole that made it magic. That kind of magic is very hard to find.

Most likely whatever Alex will be in will be a CSI-type show with no character depth and that completely turns me off so it depends what kind of show it is for me to even watch it. Just because he is in it is not enough.

Bethan Says:

It really depends on the show, I really like Alex as an actor so will be tempted to watch, but it was Moonlight that I really loved. I will certainly try and support him in future ventures and can understand why this one year deal could be good for him, but I am still angry with CBS. I am less likely to watch him on CBS, where as another network I would have wathced whatever the type of show just to support him.

SusieQ Says:

You bet I’ll watch a new show staring Alex O’Loughlin. For me, he is a very talented actor who’s star is on the rise. I loved Moonlight, but it was because of Alex that I watched the show in the first place. I’m hoping that he’ll have some say in this new show, but no matter what, you can bet he has my support. I’m very excited for him and I’ve got to believe that CBS must have recognized the budding talent in this young Aussie actor. Go Alex! I’m behind you 100%!!!

TGF Says:

I am still very sad about what has happened to Moonlight, it was a very rare show that touched many of us deeply - that is hard to find. The writers, the actors, the creators all played a role in the magic.

That being said, I am thrilled for Alex - he made Mick come “alive” and I will watch his next show in support of this wonderfully talented man who is so appreciative and supportive of his fans. Go Alex!

Poor Nina, she seems to really struggle with the truth. Perhaps a refresher course in how to show apprecaition for your customers is in order!

tagrhm Says:

I’m glad for Alex, the man needs a job but am I happy NO. Moonlight was not just about Alex or his character. Moonlight had one of the hottest and entrancing romances in decades. Alex did a wonderful job bringing Mick to life but I wouldn’t have been half as dedicated to the show as I am if it wasn’t for Sophia Myles as Beth. She portrayed a strong yet vulnerable woman who loved a man no matter what even if he was a vampire. She once said in an interview she felt it was her job to be an avatar for the viewers into the show and the Mick/Beth relationship. Well she was wonderful at her job, she allowed us all to live through her, to see Mick as she saw him. It was the way these two actors sizzled on the screen many times just by looking at each other that made me a fan. Afterwards as the season progress, I began to fall for Jason Dohrings character Josef as well. Jason made a playboy seemingly self absorbed guy into someone you cared about. Heck he had the funniest lines in the show and stole every scene he was in. I won’t be trying out this new show on CBS, if its available somewhere else down the road that won’t give CBS ratings I might check it out like online but CBS will remained banned in my house until they finish Moonlight. I want a tv movie telling how this romance ends. Like Twilight where we know what happens with Bella and Edward, I want to know what happened with Mick and Beth. If CBS provides us with that I will consider it an acknowledgement from them that dismissing their viewers is a bad idea.

Mariah Says:

Um, no, no, no and no. I’d be happy if they brought Alex back in Moonlight. That’s about it. I love Alex, but I’m in it for the vampires, the romance and Mick St. John. Best wishes to Alex, but I’m still jonesing for Moonlight.

Jennifer Says:

No, I am not happy now. I didn’t watch Moonlight because Alex O’Loughlin was in it - I watched Alex O’Loughlin because he was in Moonlight. I wish Mr, O’Loughlin the best in his career since Moonlight showed he can be pretty darn impressive. But I don’t follow actors - I follow stories and CBS took a story that I loved away. I’m not going to give them that opportunity again and so that network stays off.

wpgrace Says:

Are we happy now? I am happy for Alex, I think. But CBS did so badly by Moonlight–a 3 month hiatus of a freshman show, no reruns and no eps even on their own website, how were new fans ever supposed to find this show? And lousy promotion–commercials for Moonlight almost exclusively during Ghost Whisperer, which is not the same audience. Shows which Moonlight beat in ratings are still on, but Moonlight is gone. Vamps are in just as Moonlight goes away. None of this makes sense. So I don’t count on CBS not to tie Alex up for a year and do nothing good with him. I hope they don’t treat him with the same “love” they treated him with during Moonlight or they will kill this wonderful actor’s career. I have seen his other work and I have seen him in Moonlight. He deserved better and he deserves better than CBS.

Julie Says:

Before I found Moonlight I was pretty much done with CBS’s crime procedurals. I am tired of watching mind numbing television. I found Moonlight to be a refreshingly different show. And, I really looked forward to it. When it was cancelled I went back to my DVDs and not much television. So, yes I’m happy for Alex I think it’s great. No, if it’s another crime procedural. I can’t get invested in watching them. I really miss quality television with good stories and creative characters.

Williewolf Says:

Am I happy? I guess I am glad that Alex found a job. However, Moonlight was NOT the Alex O’Loughlin show. I never watched it just to see him. I watched for the wonderful story lines and the MickBeth romance. I also became a fan of the genre because of the show.
I wish Alex the best in his career, as I also wish for the rest of the cast and crew; but giving Alex a contract (or whatever you choose to call it) does not appease this Moonlight fan (the operative word being MOONLIGHT…the show).
To answer the question, “Am I happy now?” …the answer is no.

Jeane Says:

Happy - no on one hand and yes on the other. It was the the combination of actors’ chemistry with each other (all of them), character driven story lines, eye-grabbing sets, music, and style of direction that was so appealing about Moonlight. And it was growing into a first-rate, refreshingly entertaining weekly escape, which is what a non-news television show is supposed to be in my opinion. Not to mention that I would have thought a consistent number of viewers in a freshman year would be a plus for a show — and the possibilities for growth with some “real” promotion were a definite. So having all those positives ignored by CBS definitely makes be unhappy. Simply signing a deal with Mr. O’Loughlin doesn’t change that at all.

A somewhat secure career move for an exceptional actor like he is certainly does make me happy for him. It is pretty hard to trust CBS and its decision-makers at this point, so I wish he was affiliated with another venue. I have come to know his work thanks to Moonlight and I appreciate him for the actor and the man he is. I will give whatever his next project is a chance. The bottom line though, as it is with any entertainment for me and my family, is that the quality and appeal of the show itself matter most.

I will admit I fell for Alex’s voice (I was in the kitchen when I heard that voice coming from the livingroom tv set) then Alex and then Moonlight. I checked out everything Alex has done (even “Feed” which was almost too much for this 81 year old) and found him to be a very exciting actor. But then Moonlight took over the whole family and it became a Friday family fest that even sometimes involved the neighbors and drop-in guests. What a great way to spend quality time together. I want it all back..Alex, Sophia, Jason, David Blue and Jacob Vargas (Logan and Guillermo) and Eric. I want the magic back!
While I will always follow Alex’s career and feel sure it will be meteoric, I want Moonlight with all its original components back, too. Unrealistic, maybe. But I think that down the line someone at CBS or another network will realize they are missing the vampire boat and get the message, too..we want all of it!

Valerie Says:

No, while I wish Alex the very best and I certainly understand him moving on and advancing his career I still stand behind Moonlight. I bet Mr. O’Loughlin understands too because he and the rest of the cast worked so hard on Moonlight. The story, the chemistry between the actors, the Noir techniques are special. In the end cancelling the show reflects badly on CBS. Ms. Tassler handled this verrrrry badly and there are a lot of viewers still quite offended. Besides who cancels a vampire show in The Year of the Vampire. Best of luck to Alex. I hope the rest of the cast does ok too!

Carolyn Says:

Move over McDreamy, because here comes Prince Sizzle-Charming! Alex O’Loughlin is not only good looking and sizzling-sexy, he’s got loads of acting talent and I can’t wait to see what he does next. I still get shivers down my spine watching the “Josef re-turning Mick” scene. I can’t wait for Alex to make magic like that again! CBS, please give him a role he can “sink his teeth into” ;) — not some dull, slave-to-the-plot scientist/cop/lawyer role. Then we’ll know you understand why we’ve been nattering on about losing our Mick. Now if you wanna make us REALLY happy …. :)

coco Says:

YES I’m happy for Alex. I can’t wait to see him on TV again.
I love Moonlight and always will but am so excited to see him (as well as Sophia, Jason & Shannon) in other roles.

joanie Says:

I am happy for Alex. He is so very talented and deserves nothing but good things. However, I loved all of Moonlight: the story, the MickBeth romance, Josef’s snarkiness, the time and attention put into the sets and lighting, the chemistry among the three leads. I want to see the rest of the story. Moonlight and its loyal fanbase deserve a proper conclusion.

Connie Says:

Yes I am happy for Alex who is so talented and hard working. I hope they treat him with the respect he so deserves and provide him a show worthy of his talents..I will support him and can’t wait to see this incredible actor in other projects. And being the dreamer I am, still hopeful we will see him and the rest of the wonderful cast back with a new season of Moonlight and will continue to campaign to bring it back.

amyvil Says:

I am THRILLED for Alex and just as thrilled for me. I will get to watch my favorite actor every week on TV once more. Alex so deserves this. He has it all–amazing talent, great looks and charisma. When he is on screen, he totally mesmerizes me to the point I can’t take my eyes off him. Can’t wait to hear more details about this upcoming show but whatever it is, I’ll be watching!

Tammy Says:

Yes yes yes I am very happy for Alex and can’t wait to see him on my television screen again,Moonlight will alway’s be in my heart but it’s gone sad as that is to admit,But just as I will follow Alex I will also follow Jason and Sophia,CBS is holding on to Alex because they know what they have, they are not the biggest television network in Hollywood for nothing.Am I mad because they cancelled Moonlight, you bet And I also believe that with the huge vampire craze that’s coming they made a huge mistake, but what can you do,they will never admit it or bring Moonlight back,But they gave Alex a sweet deal and he was smart enough to realize that.I too hope they give him something that is worth his talent.

Kelly Says:

Not even close! I watched the show because of the spectacular chemistry of the 3 lead actors and the romantic storyline . If I was a teenager instead of a 26 year old adult, then the answer to your question would be “Yes, I’m happy”.
CBS decision to appease Moonlight fans by signing Alex to another pilot, doesn’t make a bit of difference to me or my family and friends who fell in love with the show. Until Moonlight, CBS had nothing of interest for me and still doesn’t unless they bring back Moonlight!

Jackie M. Says:

In answer to your question: No, I’m not happy. I WILL be happy if and when CBS decides to bring back “Moonlight”. Until then, my boycott of this network is firmly in place.

Bob Says:

My family and I fell in love with the show - not the actor. We tuned in week after week because of the beloved characters and storyline!

It’s baffling to me why CBS executives would think that Alex was the sole reason anyone watched the show. If anyone took a poll, or spoke direct to the fans, you would realize that is was the chemistry and storyline of Mick AND Beth that everyone tuned in.

So…., No TV Addict.com, I am NOT happy!

zortil Says:

While I still mourning for the loss of Moonlight, I’ll definitely follow Alex anywhere. I can’t wait for his new project to begin. Thanks to Moonlight, I’m a fan for life. I wish him much success. CBS, PLEASE, PLEASE, TREAT HIM & HIS SHOW BETTER THIS TIME! Mark Gordon, take good care of my beloved Alex. I like your shows, so I’ll trust he’s in good hands.

Rowena Says:

I wish Alex only the best in this new career path. I support him and will follow his career with great interest and enthusiasm. And yes, I’ll be watching his new show … avidly. That doesn’t mean I love Moonlight any the less. Alex, Sophia, Jason, Shannyn are actors. They need to work. They must move on. They brought us a beautiful show that touched a deep place within my heart. Moonlight will always be special to me. Go for it, Alex. I can’t wait to see you back on our television screens.

Paula Says:

What a stupid question! Sorry Tv Addict.com but I don’t know any sane adult and fan of this beloved show would be happy other then to have Moonlight back on air!

I for one fell in love with the CHARACTERS and Storyline - not for the leading actor! Give me a break! I’m 34 - not 15 anymore with a crush on an actor to be appeased by a network!

kim Says:

No, I am not happy! Where Alex ends up next makes no difference to me. I am a fan and loyal viewer of the SHOW - not the actor. I want my Mick and Beth back and only then will I be happy and tuning in to CBS. Until then, CBS holds no interest for me….

paula Says:

No, not happy at all. Good for Alex, but I will only tune in to CBS again when/If they bring back Moonlight. I am a fan of the show and the storyline- not the actor.

bill Says:

Not happy at all unless they bring back Moonlight. If they don’t, I doubt very much I will tune in. CBS as a network holds no inteerest for me now. Everything is same old / same old…. In other words, BORING!.

Jane Says:

Not even a little. Good for Alex but it was because of him that I was obsessed witht he show and tuned in week after week.

I loved the characters and storyline. Unless CBS brings back Moonlight, I have no interest in seeing Alex in another detective series. That’s all CBS seems to air now.. Boring!

Rory Says:

No, I am am not happy and won’t be until they bring back Moonlight. Until then, CBS is being boycotted in my household.

luckyLG Says:

I love Alex and I support him on what ever projects he chooses. MoonLight was an amazing show, and I will never forget it. That show’s success was due to a fantastic cast and crew.
Alex is very passionate about being true to his roles. I have no doubt he will make his new role an equal success. I will follow him to any project because he is a genuine person. I also believe, his true fans will also follow him and be happy for him as well.
We love you Alex and we believe in you! Good Luck! :)

LuckyLG

Peter Says:

No, not happy. I tune in to be entertained by a show - not to follow an actor. So unless CBS brings back Moonlight, I don’t care where Alex goes.

Julie Says:

No, not happy at all. I don’t follow actors. I tune in to watch a show that captures my interest. Moonlight was my escape but if they don’t bring it back, I have no interest in seeing Alex in another one of their never-ending detective shows.

Moonglow Says:

No, not really. I would like to see the return of Moonlight.
I loved the characters that the actors/actresses played
and the story it’s self. The romance is what kept me in
tune each week ! I loved the mystery that surrounded
Josef and wanted to know more about him. While I do
like Alex , and hope CBS doesn’t screw up his career.
I want my Moonlight. I will be curious to see what show
they make for him or put him in if he replaces someone. Other than that I will not be watching CBS !!!

MWJ Says:

I’m sooooo happy for Alex and this opportunity to advance his career! I’m a fan of his for life now and will follow his career wherever it leads! CBS sees his value and potential as well. He brought us a beloved main character and the truth is, Moonlight wouldn’t have been without Alex! I miss Moonlight too, but Alex is more than Moonlight. It’s a part of his past now and all of the actors have to move on. I wish them all well!

MOONCHILD69/BETH :-) Says:

First and Foremost……..YESSSSS This FAN will watch Alex wherever he is on whatever network or show! I am not a fair weather fan, I am Alex’s follower and love ALL his work and own ALL his DVD’s(movies ets.) because he IS THAT GOOD! I like Gina am so surprised and saddened that people don’t want him any other way………a little tunnel vision maybe? You cannot be his fan and supporter and not back the choices he makes, it doesn’t work like that. As a very happy fan I will support him in any and all endeavors he chooses to participate in. I love to watch him work, and at the end of the day that’s how most people found him(working). Moonlight was his rocket that’s catapulting him into stardom, if you really care for this GENEROUS man (like you say you do) and are really on his TEAM, you should revel in his success and support ALL THINGS ALEX O’ LOUGHLIN~~!!

I AM YOUR FAN ALEX, I WILL BE HERE WAITING FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER!!

XOXOXO

Beth~~Moonchild*69*~~ :-)

cobby Says:

I will watch the new show and if it’s good I will continue to watch. If it is bad then I won’t tune in.

I loved Moonlight and all the characters, story line, sets, etc.

The “forked tongue witch” cannot be trusted. Alex needs a job for his career and he needs to support himself one way or another. I wish him luck and success….but the witch is hanging on to him so no other network can get him…..I wish nothing but bad things for her.

justmick Says:

Many have already said it better than me but I will follow Alex to whatever he does next and next and next. I am his fan forever and will follow his career. I think he’s the best actor to come along in a long time and I’m anxious to see what he does next.

Still, whatever Alex does on CBS is the only thing I will watch on CBS.
I wish Alex on the greatest success and much happiness.
Alex deserves this and i hope he chose the best deal available to him. This seems to give him some very nice options and will pull even more fans to him.

Do I miss MOONLIGH?! You bet I do. Do I continue to fight for MOONLIGHT? You bet I do. Alex’s contract is for a year. I don’t think even if MOONLIGHT were brought back in some form that it would happen before that. So who’s to say that Alex might still reprise. Mick St. John for a season or two more. I would love that but I also don’t want him typecast as a vampire. He’s bigger than that. However, MOONLIGHT was Alex and the tremendous chemistry generated with the rest of the cast. I don’t know of any other actor that could do that. So no Alex - no MOONLIGHT for me.

Cassopeia Says:

I don’t know that the “bite” has been taken out of Moonlight’s cancellation. I will cherish all 16 episodes forever. It was and is a wonderful fantasy, but realistically, it was television. Many of my favorite TV shows get cancelled and then there are the ones that stay on the air (same old same old reality cr@p). Nature of the business, I guess.

I am SOooo excited for Alex!!!!! Hopefully, this will be another terrific stepping stone for his star to shine even brighter!!!! You GO ALEX!!! Good on YA!!

DimWitte Says:

While I am a fan of Alex (and Sophia and Jason and Shannyn) and will support and watch him in this new show and anything else he does, I am not entirely happy.

Nina and the Eye treated the cast and fans of Moonlight abominably, and that cannot easily forgiven. To think that we will appeased by signing Alex to another show is naive at best.

In Hollywood, out of sight is out of mind, so I am very happy that Alex will be seen. He has the talent and the charisma to become big, and I mean big, like Old Hollywood big–Cary Grant, Lawrence Olivier, Clark Gable, etc. I expect that he will have a long and phenominally successful career, and I will support him every step of the way.

maryp Says:

I’m very happy.. as are the majority of Alex’s TRUE fans. Sure I loved “Moonlight” but that ship has sailed. Time to move on.. not live in the past. I don’t think that Alex figured that Mick St. John would be the only character he’d ever play.

I look forward to see what the show developers come up with.. hopefully it will showcase Alex’s talent.. and attract a huge audience.

I also look forward to other big things in Alex’s future.. he destined for a long career.. and his fans will be there to support him through the entire wild ride!

Sharika Says:

I’m not really happy, I wanted Alex back in Moonlight. It was not only him but all the other actors as well. It was also the story line they had so much potential and CBS blew it. Nina is an idiot. I’m happy for Alex but I’d rather see him in Moonlight!

Mary Says:

VERY.
Let’s face it: Moonlight was sometimes fun to watch but it was really lacking, esp in the writing and acting department. It lacked the creative thrust Buffy / Angel had, though it wasn’t as pathetic as Forever Knight. I’ve always sensed Alex is better than the material given to him on Moonlight, and I’m glad he may have a chance to prove it now, hopefully in a better show.

bunchesofun Says:

I am quite happy for Alex for this opportunity. Glad that he is moving on to something new. But moving on and going back to playing Mick are not mutually exclusive to one another. Actors frequently do more than one project at a time. Moving forward and taking on other projects does not mean that he couldn’t or wouldn’t play Mick St. John again. I want more Moonlight and I will continue to campaign for more Moonlight in ADDITION to supporting him in his current projects.

Sharon Says:

I will support Alex 100% as I would for Sophia and Jason in their endeavours too.

I will watch anything that Alex appears in as I am a fan through thick and thin!!, we have hopefully had the thin, now lets try the other.

I can’t wait to see him back on our screen asap, it’s about time too.

alicefaz Says:

I am so angry that the so called Moonlight fans are taking the matter in such immature manner. Nina took the first punch for merely doing her job because Moonlight was not making in enough ratings according to the network standards. Now they are stabbing the actor who worked his butt off to bring Mick and the show to shine. CBS was the network that gave Moonlight the show a chance, if they did not pick it up in the first place, there would be no Moonlight, there would be no Mick or Beth or Josef or Moonlight fans.Be appreciative of the past and move on already.I just hope all this negativity is not going to affect the actor. I wish O’loughlin the best in whatever rproject he takes and I will watch him because he’s one talented actor..

Septbday Says:

I wish all the cast members of Moonlight every success. Yes, I will watch Alex in his new show. He is an extremely talented actor. I will also watch Sophia, Jason, David and Shannon as well. Smart move on Nina’s part; maybe the losses of 8 million+ viewers made her think twice. BUT I STILL MISS MOONLIGHT!!!

meceje Says:

Am very pleased for Alex as I feel is such a fabulous actor who deserves to be recognised as such.

However, I still miss Moonlight immensely and will not cease my support of the show and my campaign for it to be granted it’s warranted season 2. We need Mick/Beth romance and answers to all the loose ends. We need the unexplored storylines to be founded and we need our Alex back at the helm of this wonderful addictive show.

ToryE50 Says:

Totally agree with those who say Alex deserves the best of opportunities. He’s that good, and he’ll know what to do with any role he’s given. Now, will Nina and crew suck him in and spit him out again? Don’t know. Is she giving the fans lip service? Could be. But, as others said, anything with Alex in it would be the only thing I’d watch from the Evil Eye network. But especially if they bring back Sophia and Jason as well. I think that would be called… Moonlight?
Just don’t trust them not to put something decent on, and get it all confused with a reality show when it comes to hitting the “cancel” button, again.

Beth Says:

I wish Alex the best. I have followed his career in movies and I thought he was very good. But as good as Alex is can he resurrect CBS. That’s a tall order even for him. I hope that he will have a vehicle that will show his talent off. But, Nina, you have really alienated a lot of viewers. Canceling Moonlight, Shark, and Journey Man were just more examples of CBS’s short sightness. I for one am head shy about coming back.

Lillian Says:

Moonlight was a show that truly and deeply touched me. And I thank Alex, Sophia, Jason, Shannyn, the rest of the cast and crew, and the writers for their hard work and talents. I wish each of the them the very best. Yes, Moonlight fans care about all the cast members, the writers, and the crew.

I don’t have the patience for “reality” shows. Network procedurals put me sleep. Same old, same old, ensemble dramas. No, thank you.

I admit I do watch some network TV. I love Heroes, Pushing Daisies, and Chuck.

You guessed it. I want different. I want inventive. I want intriguing. I want quality writing. I want high production values. I want chemistry between the actors that I can feel when I touch the screen. I want to go on an adventure every week. Moonlight did all that for me. And it made me laugh and cry and care and tune in.

The characters are still with me. They tell me about their pasts. they perform scenes in my head, and they make guest appearances in my journal. Very few shows do that. Not even the ones I mentioned above.

I dearly hope that Moonlight is resurrected. But right now I feel as if I’ve lost a friend, someone who understood me and spoke my language. And we were cut off in mid-conversation.

CBS even on it’s very best day will never again match the magic that Moonlight cast. Unless that day is the day they bring the show back.

Peace.

Joe Says:

Good luck with that. I don’t think it’s going to make anyone happy, except Mr. O’Laughlin. Don’t get me wrong, he’s got to wrok and I wish him all the success in the world. It’s just that my daughter loved watching Moonlight, not watching a particular actor.

Donna Says:

I am happy that Alex has an offer of work but I never had any doubt that his talent would not be soon discovered. However, the fans of Moonlight want Moonlight back…the whole package of which he is a large part. We love the show that is what we are, and will continue tofight for. CBS is foolish to think they can buy us back this way when all they have to do is just negotiate to bring the show back. Perhaps they should check the stability index on SyBoards.

Melissa Says:

I’m happy for Alex in the sense that he has work. However I am very wary of what CBS and Nina Tassler could do TO his career not FOR it. I think Alex is a great talent and while hope he finds success, I, like many others did not watch Moonlight just for Alex. It was fresh and different. The chemistry between all of the cast was awesome. I have never in 38 years been in love with a show like I am with Moonlight and I will continue to campaign for its return.
There is nothing else of interest to me on CBS. Like others have said, SSDD. Just boring. I watched Ghost Whisperer and Numbers, but after the way Moonlight fans were treated, I wanted nothing else to do with the network what so ever.
I saw that some people posted earlier that Moonlight didn’t hold its own. Well it did win its time slot nearly every week as well as the People’s Choice award for best new drama. Oh, but that’s right, CBS doesn’t care about any of that or their viewers. The way that the cast and the fans were treated by the network and that “forked tongued witch” as a previous poster so aptly put, it is absolutely abominable. And to think for a second that keeping Alex would appease Moonlight fans and bring back viewers is just another insult.
So the answer is NO, I’m not happy.

Angela Skjeie Says:

Moonlight is what would make me happy. Nothing less. I will tune in just to see what type of vehicle CBS comes up with for Alex, but as others have mentioned, if it is not any good, it will not keep my attention. I watched The Shield while Alex was there and didn’t pay much attention to him, but in the role of Mick St. John, he shined bright and kept me enthralled week after week, along with the fellow actors Sophia Myles, Jason Dohring and Shannon Sossamon. Moonlight was a great show and I just hope that whatever CBS has in store for Alex, it isn’t a CSI ripoff!

Donna F. Says:

No I am not happy. Moonlight was the best show I have watched in a long time. Every character was great their chemistry was great and all of the story lines were great. There are so many directions this show can take. The possibilites are endless. I really hope CBS will re consider and bring back moonlight.

I am happy for Alex, absolutely. But what some people seem to be missing is the fact that Moonlight fans were fans of the show, not just of one actor. Unless CBS is bringing Moonlight back, with the complete original cast, well, nope, I won’t be happy.
I WOULD be willing to settle for a prequel show though…get me some Jason, Alex, and Shannyn and I’ll try to be happy ;)

Cara Says:

I understand that Alex has to move on, but with CBS?! Come on, we have seen what they do. CBS really dropped the ball with canceling Moonlight with this Fall and Winter Season of the Vampire just getting under way. My library branch put out all of it’s “Supernatural Romance” books because there was such a demand from people waiting for Twilight and the genre books. Two other series on Vampires will be out this Fall and CBS had 8 Mill already waiting to see a second season of Moonlight. I was a fan of the show Moonlight. I never heard of Alex before since I don’t have cable and only watch broadcast. I loved the emsemble, the chemistry and the story lines and wanted to see where the writers would take it next. Yes, I will wait and see what they find for Alex to do next but it might be a long wait and in the mean time, all that Moonlight Fans can do is wait for the DVD of the 16 episodes.
As for the replacement for Moonlight, Ex-List, you have got to be kidding. I only started watching Moonlight because it was on after GW. Same sort of genre there. I bet Ex-List will be DOA and not last two episodes before they come to their senses and realize how insulting that a woman who has been “dating since she left the womb” has to rely on a fortune teller who says she must troll through her discards or she will face a fate worse than death of never being married. Please, is this what women have worked for the last 30 years!?
Anyway, just add me to the CBS boycott list. Maybe it is childish to not want to be disappointed again or to hold it agianst CBS because they are just “doing business”. I still say I will vote with my feet. If I hear of anything that Alex or the rest of the cast of Moonlight is in, I might take a look but that is all.

jennene Says:

No Moonlight = Not happy! Plain & simple. Not coming back without Moonlight. End of story.
I do wish Alex all the success & happiness in the world.

Marge Says:

the title of the thread should have been alex o loughlin fans: are you happy now?
since it’s not moonlight they’re keeping.
we, or speaking for myself, moonlight is the whole package of the vampire genre, the whole dynamic and chemistry between the actors especially sophia with alex, and the whole gang including jason even the guy that played guillermo, jacob vargas, and the computer geek logan, david blue.

Diva Says:

It was Moonlight and Mick St John that we were loving…It’s great for Alex but keeping the show and all its wonderful characters are what we are really fighting for. Would someone please bring back MICKBETH!

Rod Says:

Here’s what is really going on, Nina Tessler and CBS signed Alex O’Loughlin to a 1 year contract with no set show, because they know that the Moonlight fans have shown just how many fans of the show there really are. Other networks know this as well, and there is a very good chance that some other network would likely pick up Moonlight as a mid-season replacement. So Tessler signed Alex to keep this from happening. It is unusual for the networks to sign an actor with no set series. Tessler and CBS know that they blew it, and if another network picked it up, it probably would be a huge success and this would exposed them as having tin ears and poor judgement. So they made this move to put the final “nail in the coffin” for Moonlight. Once again they’re putting their egos ahead of the fans. That is why Tessler says that fans really just liked O’Loughlin not so much the show. This is a lie she knows is false. She thinks she can hoodwink the fans so that they will watch his new show and maybe forgive them for their blunder. If only there were someone with a backbone at CBS who could admit they make a terrible mistake, and correct it by bringing back Moonlight.

eydie Says:

it’s not alex o’laughlin, the actor, that i was enamoured of. it was mick st. john, the vampire detective. alex o’laughlin as another character is NOT the same. i can’t be bought as cheaply as mr. o’laughlin apparently can. moonlight was murdered. mick st. john was murdered. the murderer is cbs. i would be less inclined to watch a new show starring o’laughlin than i would just a new show in general. i want mick and moonlight back.
