Friday marks the series premiere of Outsider’s Inn on CMT at 8/7c. When Maureen McCormick, Bobby Brown and Carnie Wilson leave their Hollywood homes behind and head south, it’s Newhart meets The Simple Life. With eight half-hour episodes, this unscripted comedy documents the trials and tribulations that ensue when McCormick makes the unlikely decision to run a bed and breakfast in rural East Tennessee and enlists the help of her Gone Country friends, Brown and Wilson.

It’s also the season finale of Ashley Paige: Bikini or Bust on TLC, starting with a new episode at 10/9c, followed by the finale at 10:30/9:30c, and the season premiere of Gone Country on CMT at 8/7c.

As for the Olympics, if all proceeds according to plan, American superstar Michael Phelps may have Olympic history — a record-tying seventh gold at one Olympics — within reach when he swims the 100m fly against rival countryman and world record-holder Ian Crocker. Other swim finals: the men’s 50m free, women’s 200m back and 800m free. Also, beach volleyball, a U.S. men’s volleyball match, and, from track and field, the men’s shot put final and qualifying in the men’s 100m.
