Josh Emerson Says:

DEXTER! I’m glad that and 30 Rock got so many nominations. I’m surprised Pushing Daisies was excluded from the Comedy Series category, and I still can’t believe the Academy loves Boston Legal that much.

scsc Says:

You must be ecstatic not to see Monk or Tony Shaloub in the nominations list…but 2 1/2 Writers…I mean Men still continues to garner attention. oy.

Nick Says:

What does it say about the state of network TV (and idiot viewers) that only NBC’s 30 Rock and The Office (neither watched by masses) are joined by the inane 2.5 Men as the only non-cable comedy noms? Charlie Sheen as a “best lead?” You’re joking, right?

Here’s how to analyze what the Emmy voters do: They LOVE to nominate older actors (see Shatner, Bergen, H. Taylor, Danson, etc.) and FILM actors (Close, Hunter, Sedgwick), because they feel it raises the status of TV to have these folks working in their medium. In order to “keep them on TV,” the Academy divvies out awards to them yearly.

Amrie Says:

What kind of incriminating photos do the cast of 2.5 Men have on the Academy? Seriously? Every year? I’ll accept that Boston Legal sends in kick-ass episodes (their one standout every year), so they might deserve a nomination. But 2.5 Men? Also, Seacrest was nominated for outstanding host……just wow.

jecoup Says:

Survivor snubbed :(
I’m so happy with the nominations for Pushing Daisies! It’s ok they got snubbed for outstanding comedy but the nominations for chenoweth and pace are deserving. Just sad Chi McBride did not get a nomination

and I really hope MICHAEL EMERSON wins!

SimplyKimberly Says:

Yunjin Kim not nominated as supporting actress in a drama is just wrong.

Michael Emerson should walk away with supporting actor in a drama. There is no one else on tv that does better work than he does.

And are Emmy voters even aware of Battlestar Galactica? Have they seen it? Because no frakking way should it not be nominated for a whole boatload of awards. For once I wish these people would not be lazy and actually make some non-predictable nominations. Yet another year I won’t watch because I just don’t give a crap about who wins 90% of them.

qualler Says:

HOW IS THE WIRE NOT NOMINATED FOR BEST DRAMA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? BUT RYAN SEACREST IS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

The world is an unfair place.

paketep Says:

The Emmie nominations suck, as always.

Trixie Says:

How is it possible to snub FNL anymore than it already was??? What a joke. Maybe next year – I’m not holding my breath. At least Amy Poehler got a nod for SNL.

James Says:

You guys are talking about Survivor and Pushing Daisies snubbed??? Who CARES?

One show above all needs to be praised by this horrible association…and that show is…*drumroll*…THE WIRE!

I’m sick of saying this.

Neena Says:

Yah…for Mad Men…please let Jon Hamm win Best Actor. I really wanted Mad Men to win Best Series too..here’s hoping…

But…i am so disappointed about Battlestar Galactica…a fantastic series; ignored yet again by the Emmy’s – :(

nick Says:

Good for Michael c Hall(Dexter)and John Hamm(Mad Men).2 great shows and actors.I wish they could both win.
Im sorry but Two and a Half Men is kind of funny.I love 30 Rock(ahh Tina Fey) and smart funny shows like that but many people think its funny and Sheens a big part of that.(i can’t believe im defending it)
Also good for Neil Patrick Harris, for me,Barney is the best part of How i Met Your Mother.(ok that and Cobie Smulders)
I don’t get peoples love for Battlestar Galactica.I watched the first few and it was BAD.Maybe i will have to give it another try.Not all shows can be good from the start like LOST and Mad Men.

Hil Says:

So I see they are continuing their tradition of mediocrity. Probably why I have not bothered with it in nearly ten years. The only bright spot is Dexter and a couple inspired supporting nominations.

Mark Says:

I think we all saw these nominations coming from a mile away. The Academy never likes to change up their taste or watch anything else outside of what they think is decent enough.

Oh well. I won’t be watching the Emmy’s anyways.

Todd W in NC Says:

Sad to see Drama Actress top 10 finalist Mary McDonnell not get the nomination for Battlestar Galactica. Sci-fi gets snubbed again.

I’m probably in the minority for being both surprised *and pleased* to see nominations for Boston Legal, James Spader, William Shatner, and Candice Bergen. However, I don’t think Boston Legal can stand up to Lost or House.

For the whole season overall, William Shatner can’t stand up to Michael Emerson, but if that category is judged on only one episode, and if it’s the one BL episode I think it is, Shatner is more deserving than most give him credit for.

My picks…
– Best Drama: Lost *or* House (can’t make up my mind)
– Lead Drama Actor: Hugh Laurie *or* James Spader (really tough choice there too)
– Lead Drama Actress: Sally Field
– Supp. Drama Actor: Michael Emerson
– Supp. Drama Actress: Candice Bergen (2nd choice: Rachel Griffiths; 3rd choice: Chandra Wilson)

Andy Says:

Where is Rose Byrne for Outstanding Supporting Actress?? That’s what I want to know! :(

And always good to see Mary Louise-Parker up there… again :)

Josh C. Says:

and now it’s time for people to make their picks….

Outstanding Comedy Series: 30 Rock
Outstanding Drama Series: Dexter
Lead Actor Drama: Jon Hamm
Lead Actress Drama: Glenn Close
Lead Actor Comedy: Lee Pace
Lead Actress Comedy: Christina Applegate
Supporting Actor Drama: Michael Emmerson
