Leoguy, you may be on to something about going "back" in time, but I think going back in time still involves going back to the island too.

On the other hand, I'm not convinced that the island physically moved in space as much as it was moved in time -- into the future, the way the bunnies were. I wouldn't be surprised if we see the island rematerialize in the present. For the O6 three years have passed, but to the islanders it's still late 2004/early 2005.

so I was just randomly thinking about how they have to go back ... and I realized that the vagueness of the phrasing could imply that they have to go back in TIME rather than go back to the island ...

I couldn't blog....I stood in front of my TV, riveted for two hours.

Anyone disagree with my usual assertion?: Best. Show. In. TV. History

I have just a couple of things. Sawyer told Kate to take care of Clementine if she got off the Island. In Jack's flash forward this year when he came home early to find Kate on the phone, Kate was talking about Clementine, maybe not too Clementine, maybe to Cassidy but definitely about Clementine.

I would agree that this episode didn't live up to the impossible expectations of Through the Looking Glass. However, it's funny because the reason may be that it gave us more answers than we've ever had before on this show. Usually we are left with so many questions we don't know what to do. I guess the million dollar question is what has been happening on the Island for the last 3 years. But that's obviously a story that needs to be told over the course of the next seasons via flashbacks. Some other questions... why does Sun want to work with Widmore? How did Locke get off the Island? What will become of Desmond now? Does he have to go back?

As for the TVAddict's questions, here are the answers based on podcasts and interviews with Darlton
The four-toed statue? underlying mystery, season 6
The numbers? may not be that important, may not have one all-encompassing reason for existence
The Black Smoke Monster? underlying mystery, one of the final episodes
Dharma? The foundation of Season 5
The technology behind the island? We saw a huge piece of that tonight with the frozen donkey wheel. Also, underlying mystery of the show, season 6.

Actually, now that I see Locke in the coffin, I'm more convinced than ever that Locke is Jacob. Jacob has an otherworldly sense to him so I assumed that he was dead, too. It's interesting, we know Christian was brought to the Island in a coffin and now it looks like Locke will be, too. Christian keeps popping up all over the place on the Island and in a certain cabin. And I think Locke will, too, once his body is rejoined with his Island consciousness. When you leave the Island, part of you stays there. That's why they have to go back.

What a great, roller coaster ride of an episode!!! I laughed, I cried, I was literally trembling in fear/anticipation. Whew. I know it's a good episdoe when my brain is tired afterward. That last scene was worth the price of admission. And I am just so glad that Desmond is alive. I love him so much and was so worried that he'd die on the freighter. I hope we see him again though. I will really miss if him if that's the end of his story. But, at least he reunited with Penny :) I did not see that one coming at all -- how cool.

I feel like this season has been full of answers, so I'm not sure where people are coming from with the "lack of answers" thing. Granted, there are still some things we don't know about but would the show be any fun if they revealed everything now, with 2 seasons left to go? We've gotten more answers in one episode of this season than during most of season 3. I just don't get that line of thinking at all but, different strokes I guess.

Rae: There were 8 survivors of the crash as Aaron wasn't born yet...he was added to the 6 later. Took me a minute to get that straight in my head!

Great episode, but it just leaves my wanting next season!!!
