The TV Addict 

this is disappointing. i thought abc were better than this. men in trees was actually a pretty great show. not compared to a lot of shows on tv right now but it was solid and it was heartwarming. it was a happy show. we don’t have many of those. so shame on you abc, shame on you.

It’s getting to the point that other networks are just as bad about premature cancellations as Fox used to be with sci-fi shows.

Let’s see what the body count is so far in the 2007-2008 season:

– Drive: A *much*-hyped summer show cancelled by Fox after four episodes aired with two other produced eps never aired.
– Journeyman: Cancelled despite being one of the better shows of the this past season with just barely enough warning to turn the season/pre-strike hiatus finale into a quasi-series finale.
– Kid Nation: While nothing definite has been declared yet, a 2nd season feels extremely unlikely.
– The 4400: Announced a few months ago that the show was cancelled and would not be returning this summer, it never got closure to its excellent 4th season cliff-hanging finale.
– The Dead Zone: Admittedly not a great loss, but it’s just another sign of the harshly swinging axe.
– Bionic Woman: Granted, this one actually deserved cancellation, but it’s still disappointing that the show didn’t live up to expectations in the first place.
– Jericho: Cancelled a 2nd time (although CBS deserves some credit for resurrecting it and allowing it some closure).
– Men In Trees: A great show, persistently mistreated with bad & wandering time slots.
– While there’s been no news yet, I just have a bad feeling that the surprisingly intriguing New Amsterdam won’t make it to a 2nd season. I hope I’m wrong.

On top of that… Boston Legal (which has done some of its best work in at least the last three weeks) has been moved, an early sign of a questionable future. I feel Ugly Betty, Brothers & Sisters, and Heroes have all had uneven 2nd seasons. Even Stargate: Atlantis had some oddly disappointing episodes, Grey’s Anatomy continues to annoy, Private Practice turned out to be mediocre, and I’m the only person on the planet who hated Pushing Daisies.

On the bright side, there’s Chuck, Moonlight (although it’s probably on the bubble too), Women’s Murder Club (bubble), and the Sarah Connor Chronicles. And, Lost is having a very redemptive 4th season. Battlestar Galactica has been weird — but intriguing. Allegedly, The Shield and maybe even Rescue Me will return sometime in the next decade as well.

But, still… Factoring in the negatives, I’m worried about TV. I feel we hit the renaissance of TV in the fall of 2004, and it’s been gradually downhill since then as good shows go bad or get cancelled before having the chance to get good (or right after they get good). I’m hesitant to even start watching a new show because of the unlikeliness that it will last long.

I’m wondering what Men in Trees getting cancelled means for the future of Eli Stone. Is ABC making room on their fall schedule for it, or is the axe about to fall on this great show too?

Also, did anyone see the preview they showed for Moonlight after Friday’s episode? Did it seem kinda final to anyone – like this is your last chance to see new episodes? I thought the show was doing well in the ratings. I hope it gets renewed too.

Why do the TV networks pull the “warm fuzzie” shows. They may not want to be happy but your viewers do…or is it all about advertisers and money. With gas prices going through the roof its gong to be a long summer….will we ever know what happens to Cash?Marin?Jack? and the rest of the cast. I hope the show returns….give them another chance. I’m tired of the wasted energy that goes into the shootem up, blood and gore.

I am furious!! ABC sucks!! This is such a great show and they never gave it chance!!

I like the idea of Oxygen or Lifetime picking up Men in Trees, or even CW, or any other network, which will give me one more reason to cut ABC off!!! What will your advertisers do then??? I am so sorry to hear Men In Trees was cancelled, as I sure looked forward to seeing it each week. It was a clean, fun show with happy endings which we just don’t see anymore. Why can’t we have clean shows? Give it a chance and put it back on the air!

I don’t understand why one of the best shows to T.V. was taken off the air. The trash that is one every channel is appauling,one good, clean,and funny show and it is taken off.Do the people that are ABC hane no sense of humor? Dose it always have to be blood,guts and gore?

I am so, so disappointed. I have been waiting for the return of this show. Just as I believed I could begin to count on seeing Men In Trees, again, it is cancelled. This was one of the most entertaining, unique shows around. Bring it BACK.

I just found out. I loved men in trees. It was light, funny, and an easy watch. I looked forward to it. This is the second show I lost this season. I was a big Jericho fan. I am scared to give a new show a chance. Shows don’t get a break before they cancel them. Why bother putting them out in the first place?

I really don’t want to here some sob story about networks needing to make money and it is just too expensive to make scripted television. BULL!!! Does anyone really believe that networks aren’t making any money? I have a feeling they are doing just fine. Truth of the matter, reality TV costs next to nothing to produce. All they care about is a quick buck not quality television. Until people get sick of (and stop watching) reality TV, a lot more good television shows will die a quick death. Maybe it is time to boycott network television.

I hate that they cancelled MIT! I love this show! I actually laugh out loud at the storyline. TV isn’t funny anymore. My parents and I call to remind each other that it is on. I am so sick of the reality shows and the super dramas. I didn’t know they cancelled it until I read these blogs. It has been all over the place with the day and time that it is offered so I was hoping that this was just another “bump in the road” and it would be back soon. Each week I turn into nothing but disapointment. Thanks ABC for taking off ONE of the only shows on TV that I faithfully watch each week. #$$#%!

ABC, you got it wrong. This show is incredible – a good mix of comedy, drama and GOOD WRITING AND ACTING. This is a show I DVR and watch over and over. Please, no more reality shows. No more “stars” dancing. Keep the great ones like Men In Trees and Eli Stone on. At least let them find their footing by giving them a chance with a solid time slot.

Is anyone really surprised? Men In Trees was a show that was smart, funny, warm and enjoyable. God knows ABC and TV Executives in general cannot leave anything worth watching on air for us to look forward to each week. Not when tabloid television rules the schedule. If there isn’t T&A or car crashes in every other scene, ABC and TV Executives thinks it’s a loser. Men In Trees had original story lines and excellent actors that played characters you genuinely cared about. I could care less about dancing stars and tone-deaf singers. YUCK! When people say that there is never anything good on TV, they can thank the braniacs at ABC for contributing to that statement. ABC you are a true disappointment to American viewers.

They take away shows that are great like “Men in Trees” and leave other shows that are so crappy to say the least. So again who’s the moran that let a good thing go. Now we’ll never know the fate of Jack and Marin and Buzz or anyone else. NICE GOING ABC! Maybe you should put someone else in charge of all TV Series decisions. Like ME, or the next Tom, Dick or Harry, because it obvious WE can do a better job at it.

I can’t believe Men in Trees has been cancelled. I have watched every show even with ABC moving it around all over It’s funny, quirky, and well written how many shows can we say that about. This was one of the few shows I watched on ABC. What’s next Dirty Sexy Money??? Then I will quit watching ABC.

I have never voiced my opinion in a blog, but I feel compelled to with the news of Men in Trees being cancelled. I really love this show and go out of my way to watch it. Some of my favorites have gotten cancelled lately: Related, Gilmore Girls, What About Brian, etc. This sucks!

I can not believe Men in Trees have been cancelled. I barely found out today. I loved that show so much I always looked forward to watchin it when it was on a certain day. I don’t know why they didn’t put it behind a big show to give it some push.. I mean I know they didn’t cancel this show for Pushing Daisy’s that show is dumb.. I am highly pissed.. I will definitely miss the cast..

SAY IT ISN’T TRUE! Men In Trees IS my favorite show on TV. The writing, acting, characters, and location shots are superb. Please, ABC, bring back this show — it was as heartwarming and funny as another one-of a kind show: M*A*S*H. I’m hoping you will be releasing DVDs of the 2 1/2 (?) seasons — they will be watched in my home.

I, too, am greatly disappointed and cannot understand why they would cancel such a terrific show as Men in Trees. Well, ya know, if someone out there whose got any clout would make a movie with the same actors/actresses I just bet it would be a best seller. Because, really, it was the combination of the people in the show that made it so great. Whoever chose those people to work together was a genius. Sad to say goodbye to Men in Trees.

I just found out that ABC cancelled my most favorite show! What is wrong with these networks???? One of the few shows I watch…I should have known this would happen,. It always seems like I find a show I like, then they move it around to diifferent day & time, take it off the air for a while, then put it back on & expect people to start watching it! I wonder what they will replace it with???? Maybe another dancing show or better yet, how about more “Batchelor” shows!!! The trash they keep on TV just amazes me! I have to admit that I am shocked that “Brother’s & Sister’s” was renewed….probably because there isn’t anything else on Sunday nights!!!!!

I hope everyone that reads this decides to contact other networks to let them know what a quality show Men in Trees really is….with a little luck, maybe one of them will pay attention.

I hate it that MIT was canceled. I really liked that show a lot and it was great fun!! ABC, why don’t you cancel something boring, mundane, and just plain stupid, like The Bachelor!! Give me a break!. Shows like that insult our intelligence. MIT didn’t deserve this but being constantly shuffled around to different days and time slots didn’t help a bit and no show would be able to survive being kicked around like that. Shame on you ABC!!

I have never written on a site like this but I had to this time. I completely agree with all of the above comments about Men In Trees. It was one of the only worthwhile show on right now. I was so disappointed to find out that it was cancelled. It was my hour of escape…….

I agree completely with the concensus that the hopping around of days and times for Men In Trees was it’s downfall. I missed half of the episodes since the show began, all because of programming changes. The show was never given a real chance to pick up viewership. I loved this program, told all of my friends and family about it, and made the boyfriend watch it when I could find it. Great cast.

I should have known that MIT would be cancelled. It was well-written, funny, heart-warming and clean. My husband and I looked forward to watching it whenever we could find where ABC had hidden it. Basically ABC murdered it by moving it around and putting it on hiatus for so long that its loyal viewers couldn’t find it at all. There is almost nothing worthwhile to watch on TV these days. I end up watching reruns – Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, etc. The networks just jerk us around.

THIS IS AWFUL!!! Just in the last week, I am finally finding out that my favorite show is cancelled. I more then agree with everyone else. This was my very favorite show! I LOVE Men in Trees! And I am very sad now that I will not be able to look forward to it every week. I also feel it was never given a chance, with all the time changes on it through out it’s run. It was one of the most well written, entertaining, good feeling shows on t.v. Every single one of the characters on Men in Tree’s were special. Great actors, actresses, and writers. I am going to miss each and every one of their stories. This is horrible. I can only pray that they will put this show back on the air, or another network will pick it up! Until then, or if it ever happens…….the show will be extremely missed!

I am sick of every chanel showing all the different CSI’s. Let’s give up looking in bullet wounds and go back to clean, wholesome friends and lovers that Men in Trees signified. No blood, no guts, no good to ABC? Screw the ratings. Someone else should grab this group of fine actors.

i just sent off emails to people at abc (check the message board at MIT to find the email addresses) to try to have them continue the show. i suggest others do it as well.

Like others here, i am becoming dissillusioned with tv. Shows that actually have interesting characters get the ax.

Oh well, maybe we can all take a cruise to Alaska or start our own town of Elmo.

I am addicted to this show. I have never missed an episode, even when ABC kept messing with it’s schedule. It is funny, clean and just an all-around great show. C’mon ABC BRING IT BACK! You guys always cancel the good shows. The crappy ones are still on. At least give MEN IN TREES a fair chance.

I am stunnned!! I absolutely love Men in Trees. It was thoroughly entertaining, and there were bits of the show that I feel that every women could relate to at one point in timein their life. I have been looking for it on the TV Guide channel hoping it would pop up and it never has. I am disappointed as well because there are a lot of other shows on this network that I don’t relate to that are still on. And for what, they aren’t very funny or even remotely as entertaining as this show. Maybe ABC could do something to make it up but this time I may just have to find some other channel to fall in love with. Because I was totally in love with this show. Thanks for nothing ABC!!!

Are you guys for real?? Most of us are sick and tired of watching reality shows. MIT was a fun and happy show. If it wasnt for my soaps i wouldnt be watching ABC at all and CBS isnt far away from being gone also when they cancelled Moonlite. Hopefully the WB will pick these shows up.

Once again, the networks (ABC in particular) fail to keep witty, clever, beautiful writing on the air. It was so refreshing to watch something worth sitting down to watch! I am 36 years old and it is getting increasingly difficult to watch an entertaining, relaxing program!

You want cancel something, ABC? Cancel The Bachelor and The Bachelorette! I’d much rather see Cash with his shirt off than some 20 something wanting their 15 minutes!

Searching the web I see an episode of Men In Trees set for tomorrow. Can’t you see how many people love this show? I see some of the new fall shows coming out and I am not interested in any of them. Some are stupid, immoral, and not relative to anything else. Men In Trees has great characters, stories and leaves you feeling better about life and yourself. I’m Totally Disgusted with ABC for cancelling Men in Trees. This is by far one the best shows for the 50-70 year old bracket. How dare they keep crap on the air like the Bacholorette and other reality shows that no-one in my age bracket can stand. I found it hard to find Men in Trees because they kept changing the day. They should stick with a Wed. or Thursday night time frame and leave it!!!!! ABC Sucks!

WHAT?!?!?!?! I can’t belive this! This was such a great show – my top of the list season pass! This Just makes me so sick. MIT was the most unique show. I don’t generally get hooked on these types of shows but this one really caught my heart. This just makes me sick.
They did not promote this show like they should have because I talked to alot of my friends who had never heard of it. IT was just an awsome show and as someone said….. It was warm and fuzzy and that is not what selling right now….. which is why I don’t generally watch these types of shows. Just makes me sick.

I am so disappointed that this show was cancelled. It was a wonderful show that had uniqueness and nice characters. It was a show that I could watch with my daughter and not be embarrassed.

No reason to watch television any longer when a decenct shows are continually cancelled. The ABC suits ( talking head idiots) have their heads where the sun does not shine! Yes, Men in Trees is a chic show, but HELLO….. we are the ones buying the products their sponsors are hawking!!!!!! This was the first show that I have gotten into on ABC in about 2 years or so. I understand that Abc has Desperate house wifes BUT NOT everybody cares for that show!!!! Annie must get back with Partick……..the ending of the show broke my heart from the very first show I awlays thought that Annie and Patrick made what a couple should be..loving each orther with all of their hearts! To little surprise, series creator Jenny Bicks was informed of the Men in Trees cancellation last week. She lamented to TV Guide, “I wish the show had not been moved six times and put onto two long hiatuses. No show could survive that.”

Every show that has some type of meaning to it and not full of blood, guts, fighting, cursing is being canceled. This makes no sense to me and millions of other viewers I’m sure. You find a great show like “Men in Trees” and have a night of great t.v. and then its gone. I guest it’s true “Hollywood only wants trash” thats about all that is on television.

WHATTTTTT???? This is so sad. Men in trees was the only show on ABC that I truly enjoyed watching. The fact that I missed episodes from time to time was not so bad, because I would always catch up on episodes over the weekend…. ABC has reached an all time low.
I am going to start watching more cable from now on…. GRRRR

What will be waiting in the wings when WipeOut is wiped out? It’s mildly entertaining, but ABC is stretching each week to change it up a bit from week to week. WipeOut doesn’t bring you back with evolving story lines like Men In Trees did. And I am very disappointed we were left hanging. At least wrap things up nicely in the storylines before pulling it off the air.

I cannot believe that Men in Trees has been cancelled!! I watched it every week on Living TV in the UK!!! It had a perfect time slot in England….Why couldnt ABC get it right….?!? It was an amazing show!!

ABC – what is your deal? One of the best shows to come along in eons and you nix it !!! Apparently you don’t believe in your own handywork but then again money and politics must have gotten to you, huh? Unless it’s got “reality’ in the title or theme, guess it’s not gonna be aired on your network. I’m extremely disappointed and can only hope for a DVD to come out at which point I’ll just keep hitting replay and then make up my own happy ending.

One of the few programs that I always watched all the time and they cancelled it!!! I really enjoyed the program, watched the characters develope and they cancelled it!!!!!!!!! This teaches me not to follow another program on this station because it also may just be cancelled !!!!!

I’m not much into those types of shows, however my girlfriend and I really enjoyed watching this together. There was something for both of us. How to we get it back ob the air??? I know that other networks have brought back shows, so how can we do it? Any suggestions???

Bring back Men in Trees. It was a good show and compared to most of the “blank” on your station, it was actually good. Things like this is why most people I know are going to the other stations. BRING IT BACK

Truely dissapointing that this show was cancelled. It was a family favorite! Again another network makes a good show and cancel the show without a proper ending. We understand all shows must end eventually but at least think these things through so they have an ending. I would never want to buy seasons of this show on dvd without an ending. If it had ended Like “friends” then I would and enjoy watching it again and again. It is sad, that it makes you question watching any show when you can’t know if the network will just chop it.

Men In Trees was my favorite show of all times and that is saying quite a bit. Cant believe it wont be coming on this fall. Am hoping some station might pick it up. There are very few shows I am even watching now. Very very disappointed with its cancellation!

I sincerely agree with each and every comment from above, and it is October and people are still writing in about Men in Trees. What is wrong with you, ABC? You have to know that Men in Trees is a great show for fans to still be writing in about it. You really need to reconsider your decision and bring it back on the air. It has such a following of loyal fans and you have to know that it would have gotten more fans then you could have imagined, I am sure. I would also like to know who has the power of deciding what shows stay on the air and what shows are cancelled. Because all they are doing is abusing the power they have and they do not know what they are doing and do not deserve their job. I could go on and on about this but I am sure that it will not do any good. It really does not make a whole lot of sense, does it?

Maybe if enough of us keep this going on bring Men in Trees back I think the idea of anther network picking it up is a great idea. I’d follow for sure. Canceling Men in Trees was a huge mistake, like some of the other people said it didn’t have any killing going on, no reality and it was okay for a tween to watch. Bring it back or one of yu other networks pick it up. If possible I’m going to suggest that to Lifetime or Oxygen or any one of them. Anyone care to join?

Well ive been waiting and waiting for Men in Tress to come back on and now i know why. That really sucks !! Take off some of the other crap like wife swap and bring back Men in Trees

You’ve got to be kidding me!!! I’ve been waiting for MIT to come back on for Fall and are you serious? Last season they said “Don’t worry everyone, we’re not going to cancel it” Now it’s back to being cancelled!?? I said it before and I’ll say it again – the ABC exects who made this decision should be fired. Maybe I can talk to my cousin who is an exec on another ABC show and see if he knows anyone who can help……

I really loved men in trees,I think it was a stupid decision to cancel the show… That was one of my favorite shows and I was waiting for it to return, but now NO!!!! this sucks… ABC really needs to get their act together… And come on give us back Men In Trees, it was a good wholesome show….I am very disappointed…

I am so bummed to hear Men in Trees is no more, I LOVED it and it was my favorite show since Northern Exposure. Please bring it back!!!! Maybe another network?

Oh man I can not emphasize how UNHAPPY I am that ABC cancelled MIT. This is/was my FAVORITE show, it was actually the first show that I looked forward to every single week (when I could find what time and day it was being showed). Are you serious?! All these stupid over played and over hyped reality shows, who gives a crap about them! Has anyone noticed that thats the only crap theyre putting out now is stupid freakin reality shows??!! Why because your too lazy to keep up with all the writing and producing and directing of an amazing show with depth, good actors/actresses, a beautiful setting and story line?!?! I am not watching your network anymore thats for sure, and the least ABC can do is release MIT on DVD so all of the many MANY people who enjoyed the show can watch it at home. You know since you decided to screw around with the show and move them around so much that it never gave the show a chance to continue building a loyal fan base?! Yea ABC you are ridiculous. Keep just thinking about money and thats it, its what you do best.

I only have one thing to say. This is unbelieveable….canceling “men in trees” and ABC is still airing “lost”!???!!!! REALLY??!!!? Of all shows to cancel and they picked one of the BEST shows on ABC. This is outrageous!
