Whoa! Longford sounds way intense and a lot disturbing. I am not sure what I think of the fact that the politician was trying to help pedophilles?! Must be some great writing, is all I can say.

Linda B., CALIFORNICATION was a good show and Duchovny in it, but I mostly question it being classified as a comedy. The award most definitely should have gone to Alec Baldwin for 30 ROCK.

theTVaddict, agree that Michael C. Hall should have got some foreign press love. Still can’t believe that DEXTER wasn’t even nominated in the Best Drama category.

Longford was an incredible drama, with great performances but I’m really surprised it won so many awards, as it seems like such a UK-based drama to me, as well as one that was very difficult to watch. Perhaps it got extra votes for being so ‘brave’.

For those who don’t know it’s the true story of a pair of lovers (Ian Brady and Myra Hindley) who brutally raped, tortured and killed 5 children in the 1960s. Some of the bodies lay undiscovered for years and IIRC one is still missing. Lord Longford was a British peer and politician who devoted a long period of his life to trying to get Myra freed and rehabilitated.

I was shocked and appalled to see Duchovny win that award. There were four phenomenal comedic actors nominated, yet he ends up winning? Did the voters with taste cancel each other out or something? Alec Baldwin was incredibly robbed. Why do these shows refuse to give him the awards he deserves?

I thought I would be pissed if 30 Rock lost, but I can’t help but be fine with Extras taking it. I just discovered this show recently and I loved it.

the thing that bothers me the MOST is that I’ve never even HEARD of half of the shows or movies that are nominated!!! I don’t have HBO or SHOWTIME (on purpose), and so I don’t know anything about the majority of the shows. it makes the ones that DID win all the more distasteful. not only did I not get to see the ceremony, but the people / shows I was cheering for didn’t win.
