Welcome to TV Addicts Anonymous

January 4th, 2008

TV Addicts Anonymous is a fellowship of men and woman who come together to support each-other during this incredibly difficult WGA strike. TVAA is not allied with any sect, denomination, politics, organization or institution; does not wish to engage in any controversy, neither endorses nor opposes any causes. Our primary purpose is to help each-other find alternative forms of entertainment until the WGA and AMPTP get their collective heads out of the sand and realize that a prolonged strike is killing the industry.

My name is Daniel and I’m a TV Addict.

Last night, rather than watch reruns of my favorite shows or endure another unwatchable installment of THE APPRENTICE, I chose to watch THE BEST OF LARRY SANDERS on DVD.

What did you do?

Less Strike News Says:

Since nothing was on to Tivo, I actually fiddled with my Tivo conecting it to my network instead of through a phone line. What a process….I finally got it working after a couple of hours. Better then watching Apprentice though and now with my Tivo back to getting regular updates (it had stopped hooking through the phone line last week) I am officially ready for the strike to end!

I just finished watching Firefly – can’t believe I havn’t seen it before, shame on me. The strike is a good opportunity for me to watch shows I missed during the years – I have to admit that I’m kind of a “tv addict newbie”, just started last year.

Rueben Says:

I watched the last two aired episodes of Moonlight, as I had recorded them. I needed an Alex/Mick fix.

Aleks Says:

I wrote a review for Cashmere Mafia, and caught up on some Law & Order and neglected episodes of Friday Night Lights.

Amrie Says:

I watched a super old episode of Sabrina the Teenage Witch while trying to convince guests that it’s never to late to jump on the 24 or Friday Night Lights bandwagon. When that didn’t work (because, to quote my best friend Max, “we don’t have enough time to watch the whole season, so it’s not worth starting it”…lame excuse), we played Catchphrase for a few hours and I pulled a muscle in my back ha!

Linda B. Says:

Had class til 8:30pm, then watched about an hour and a half of The TommyKnockers that I tivo’d over the weekend.

J4 Says:

until they figure it out….. I am watching old tv shows on dvd. mork and mindy season 2. I wish that retailers would have blowout specials on TV show sets right now. it would increase sales i’m sure. And hopefully put some money in the writer’s pockets,

Josh Emerson Says:

I’m a bit of a political junkie, so I was watching MSNBC last night. I was ecstatic to see Barack Obama win the Iowa Caucus. :D It made up for not having my 30 Rock fix last night.

I blogged and listened to music. I rejoined Netflix so I can watch tv on DVD. I got “Rome” season 2. Looking forward to that while “nothing” is on the tv.

Mana Says:

Had the day off and did a Veronica Mars season 1 marathon… it was lovely.

Stef Says:

I am so depressed about the strike business… I watched Grey’s again. Just hoping I missed something the first time and I’d catch something new.

luvtv Says:

I think the way to end the strike is to stop watching TV altogether. Maybe if we fire up the advertisers and everyone can lose money they would make a resolution quicker. Anyone think this is a good idea?

luvtv — “stop watching TV altogether”

Stop talkin’ Crazy!

What the heck … I decided to watch The Apprentice because I was that desperate.

The fact that half these “celebrities” aren’t taking this all seriously is a joke about the show itself, but I have to say, these guys are pretty funny, and are willing to get on the wrong side of The Donald, unlike those scared teenagers they’ve had on the show in the past.

SR Says:

Watched the new Law & Order. Jeremy Sisto & Linus Roache added? Jack McCoy promoted to DA? I’m there this season.

theTVaddict Says:

SR — Even though am a huge fan of Jeremy Sisto from KIDNAPPED and SIX FEET UNDER, LAW & ORDER was incredibly tedious and boring. Hopefully this week they’ll rip some interesting stories from the headline.

Hil Says:

I watched the last two parts of BBC’s new Oliver Twist. Pretty good for what it was. And no singing. Also good.

Mel Says:

Reruns of Supernatural and Smallville for me!

hey David, did you see the CW strike schedule? No Supernatural repeats after the remaining first run eps are done. There goes my only reason for watching the CW ’til the strike is over.

Diana Keaton Says:

The right to strike is the right of every working American citizen. Writers are workers just like anyone else. No, we do not enjoys watching reruns, but think of how much more we are going to appreciate our favorite television shows when both sides finally resolve their differences and our favorite shows are once again as they were before, surprising and anew, something always to look forward to. Think of how much more we are going to appreciate what we once took for granted.

shanna Says:

I am watching movies and I’m going to move towards some TV on DVD especially The Office and 30 Rock which I’ve never seen but hear is good. I’m also not going to lie that in between some of the films I watched a couple of episodes of ANTM on vh1. I was doing my hair and it was too much to change the channel. OH! and the Psych marathon cause I missed a lot of eps the first time around.

SimplyKimberly Says:

I’ve been taking advantage of the Netflix Watch Now option and I’ve been falling in love with The Office and 30 Rock.

Carly Says:

I’ve been watching my Veronica Mars DVD’s. As well, I’ve been getting into Dexter and The Office. Both are very awesome shows.
