Actress Melissa McCarthy who’s portrayed Lorelai’s loveable best friend Sookie St. James for the past six seasons has signed on to the ABC comedy pilot SAM I AM. “Sam,” from ABC TV Studio and Brillstein-Grey TV, centers on a woman (Christina Applegate) with amnesia who has to rediscover her life. Jean Smart (24) will play her self-absorbed mother. Regardless of whether or not “Sam” goes forward, the fact that McCarthy is actively looking for another project begs the question — Does Sookie St. James know something we don’t? Is GILMORE GIRLS really coming to an end? Stay Tuned.
