Is Your Favourite Show on the Bubble?

March 12, 2007 By theTVaddict 24 Comments

Variety has released its Annual list of Television shows on the bubble, and I for one am not pleased with some of the shows that made their list.

NBC
Over on NBC, the first show mentioned is the show critics love to hate STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP. While this comes as no surprise, count me in as one of the few television voices who is hoping that the Aaron Sorkin skein sees a second season. Hasn’t SPORTS NIGHT and THE WEST WING earned Sorkin a network good will?

Also on the bubble: 30 ROCK, FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, CROSSING JORDAN, MEDIUM, LAW & ORDER, and LAW & ORDER CI.

ABC
MEN IN TREES, SIX DEGREES, THE KNIGHTS OF PROSPERITY, BIG DAY, HELP ME HELP YOU, IN CASE OF EMERGENCY, WHAT ABOUT BRIAN, SIX DEGREES, THE NINE, ACCORDING TO JIM, and GEORGE LOPEZ are all on the bubble.

Two things on the above list surprise me. Firstly, GEORGE LOPEZ is still on the air, who knew? And secondly, ABC has so many shows on the bubble. GREY’S ANATOMY, DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, BROTHERS & SISTERS and LOST really did a fantastic job of hiding the massive holes in ABC’s schedule this season.

theTVaddict.com pleads for the return of: It says quite a lot that I honestly couldn’t care if any of the above shows return next season.

CBS
Thanks to the success of the CSI franchise and the overall strength of the CBS schedule, it’s not a good time to be on the bubble at the Tiffany network. On Monday, the surprise strength of RULES OF ENGAGEMENT could mean doom for THE CLASS and THE NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. That said, after a strong finish to the season, this TV addict certainly hopes CBS shows THE CLASS the same patience NBC gave THE OFFICE.

FOX
As a result of the juggernaut that is AMERICAN IDOL, odds are you may not have noticed that FOX pretty much hasn’t launched a successful show since PRISON BREAK. STANDOFF, THE WAR AT HOME, WEDDING BELLS all look to be on the bubble with the Rob Corddry laugher THE WINNER, well not exactly living up to its namesake in the ratings department.

theTVaddict.com pleads for the return of: THE WINNER, Rob Corddry deserves a second season to shine (with a set of parents who are actually funny)

CW
As much as it pains me to say this, VERONICA MARS may have bigger problems than the fact that death and mystery follow her wherever she goes. MARS hasn’t attracted the audience the new CW had hoped for and THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS are holding on to a far greater number of viewers from its GILMORE GIRLS lead in (again, who is really watching the Pussycat Dolls?).

That said, this TV addict steadfastly believes that CW prez Dawn Ostroff isn’t about to pull an ‘EVERWOOD’ with VERONICA MARS.

theTVaddict.com pleads for the return of: EVERWOOD, yes still. But this season I’ll settle for VERONICA MARS.
